Default Rod out 4 months

Had surgery on his hip today, per 950AM

Also, I didn't hear it but it was the reason I went to listen to their top of the hour update, but the Broncos Scout board claims 950 is saying Graham should be wrapped up within the hour.

Damn, is Rod that old? Rod could have a heart transplant and still be on the field out working everyone else.

Wow, I hate to say this but hip surgery and out four months could be a career ender for most receivers his age. But, then again, it's Rod so he probably won't even miss an offseason workout.

Hip surgery. Was starting to worry there that it may have been a replacement.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Hip surgery will keep Rod Smith out for the vast majority of the Broncos' upcoming offseason program.
Smith underwent an arthroscopic debridement procedure on his left hip on Feb. 26. Dr. Marc Philippon at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic performed the operation, which entails a four-month recovery time.
In a debridement procedure, dead or damaged tissue is removed from the affected area, allowing for the living tissue to heal more quickly. (Click here for more information on debridement.)
The team is scheduled to conduct its mini-camp in July, as it has in each of the previous two years. The three-day series of practices falls outside the four-month window from the date of the procedure.
Smith hasn't missed a regular-season game because of injury in over five years, when a sprained left ankle kept him out for a Dec. 2, 2001 game at Miami. He was inactive for a season-ending 2003 game at Green Bay, but that game came after the Broncos' playoff place was clinched, leading the team to rest Smith and several other key contributors for that contest.

I hope Rod Smith can make it back for training camp. That sucks. All the best for a speedy recovery.

This seems bad, but as I understand it's a procedure to remove scar tissue from wear and tear and a person can return from the surgery with greater range of motion and comfort. Could buy Rod a little more time. Hope the Graham signing goes through. I'm betting since we don't need to throw money at Kerney we can be competitive for Graham.

Graham would be a nice signing. Anyone know how much cap saved if they cut Alexander?

I've noiced his limp has been more visable the past few years. Old man isn't getting younger...........

I'm afraid he is going to go out like Tim Brown, Rice and others.

Rod will be fine. He's tough as hell and has a great work ethic, so he should be up to speed by the start of the season.

No one works harder than Rod, but I'm afraid his body may not have much left for football. I wish him well, he's been a great player and team player. Drafting a WR kind of high would not surprise me, though I don't know about in the 1st round.

They're the real deal on the field, young and they like Michael Vick - they're going to make a touchdown in yo' town.

I'd rub myself ot either.

So many good good playas.

hate to say this but if it's true we can't pay him more then say 2 million a year or we will probably have to release him.

That's the end for Rod. And that explains the no restructuring.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. My dad had that done several years back and it made a vast improvement for him.

That's good news about Rod. Hopefully he can come back and have a stronger season than last year, even if he isn't starting.
