They've traded a tackle who was going to get cut and our starting RB to aquire a Pro Bowl Cornerback, and then go out and sign a better running back. We essentially, in terms of what we have on the roster, got Dre Bly for George Foster and moving down 10 or so spots in the 5th/6th round(s).
We are spoiled rotten. I hope we can land Deon Grant and Kevin Curtis, sign a veteran backup for Jay, and, hopefully, we can nab Amobi Okoye somehow; but lets say all three of those fall through, we're still a much better team now than we were Week 16. Here's to a fantastic start to the offseason! Here's to the best GM/HC duo in the league! ![]() Might seem like a needless thread, but I am really ecstatic about what I've seen so far. |

I would love for Denver to get Okoye, who prepped in my hometown of Huntsville, Ala. I've met the kid, what an articulate kid and impressive speciman for someone that young.
But I think he will be snatched up by the time Denver drafts, unless they trade up. |

As great Okoye would be, i don't think he fits what they are trying to do. could be wrong, but i know Bates likes big DT's...Okoye barely reaches 300, if that

I think the Broncos whole season depends no the draft. That means they have to get lucky and find a Devon Hester type impact player. They can bring in all the right guys and still have an uphill climb.
I always enjoy Broncos off seasons. |

I don't think any team is in that scenario... or every team is. We have some pieces, have added a few and will look to have another draft where hopefully some players pan out. Even in the unlikely event that none did, we would still field a pretty competitive team this year.

I think after loading up on a couple stud defensive linemen and an offensive tackle and safety in the draft, they'll be set if they can nab a few steals like a Hester and Colston for good measure. This will be an awesome draft, plus they'll pick up a few eventual starters from rookie free agents like they did with Mike Bell this past year. I can't wait!

we still need somebody who can pressure the qb. just remember all those games we watched where there was absolutely NO PRESSURE.

Best off-season (free agency) in the last 3 years. I still feel that they have two signings left.
The draft has our pass rusher. |

Other than that I am loving this offseason. |

i think we have the talent to be in the playoffs, of course a lot depends on how jay plays for an entire season, but as always in the NFL you only make it to the playoffs if you stay healthy

as for this offseason, i have to agree that we are not done yet in FA even if we dont sign graham...i think we bring in another DT and maybe look at S as well as obviously a backup qb Last edited by chaz; 03-06-2007 at 11:50 AM.. |

I was listening to The Afternoon Blitz on Sirius NFL in the car for much of yesterday, and the hosts -- Adam Schein and Solomon Wilcots -- were just creaming in their shorts about the job Shanny and Sund have done in FA and trades the last several years. "No team plays the FA game better" or words to that effect. The Travis Henry deal was sending them into orbit. It was unreal.
By the way, that Solomon Wilcots has turned into a very good radio dude. |

when you're 19 you're done growing vertically, and he is what...6'0" maybe? he doesnt have a huge frame to add weight to. i know he's talented but asking someone that short to add weight...he wont be able to carry it well.

I like the Bly trade. On paper, I think there's potential for that getting at least one more W during the reg season than without him. Foster and Bell just weren't contributing all that much to the team, and probably could have been cut without any noticeable difference. Adding Henry isn't all that exciting to me, but he's a decent back that has scored 13 rushing TD's at least once, and that's a big deal.
Between Bly and Henry the cap went up significantly, but Champ restructured, bless his soul, and I guess Jake retiring gives some cap room ?Anybody heard if Rod restructured? |
