Default Brad Johnson becomes a Cowboy.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports the Cowboys have agreed to a three-year deal with Brad Johnson to be their backup for Tony Romo.

Johnson felt "a strong comfort level" with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, whom he's older than. He should be a good mentor for Romo to fall back on and if Romo gets hurt, a better option than Drew Bledsoe.

Damn it.

Good. He's not a Bronco. Let him stand on someone else's sideline.

Jay needs a mentor fellas. Not a wanna be starter behind him hoping the kid faulters or worse gets knocked out.

I felt Brad would be perfect for this. He clearly knows he is in the twilight of his NFL days, he's run the west coast system, he's won a ring and he's been there done that, meaning he has the knowledge to teach.

Plus he can start if needed to.

Damn, I bet we get stuck with Bledsoe................

This sucks. We are screwed.

Brad Johnson was the missing piece for our SuperBowl push.

Well the list is narrowing. Bledsoe would be a good mentor, imo, but if he had to playwere porked. What about Anthony Wright...any thoughts ?

Wright is a much better option anyway. He is a vet that is mobile and has a good arm.....better fit for the Broncos.

Good pickup for the Cowgirls. I read somewhere that Brad Johnson is an "elite QB"....

"Wright is a much better option anyway. He is a vet that is mobile and has a good arm.....better fit for the Broncos."

The guy has 19 career starts. I wouldn't quite call him a vet. His worse-than-Plummer 66.9 career passer rating and 25 INTs in 19 starts leaves much to be desired, as well. I'd take Bledsoe of Wright in a heartbeat.

Wright over Bledsoe? Are you serious??

Stats don't tell the story. I bet you have never even seen him play. He started a few games for the Cowboys and when he was in he moved the team. Denver is not bringing him in to start; he would be a great QB off the bench because there are so many things you can do with him. He is like BVP except he has experience and he is a better passer. HE is a 6 or 7 year vet so I would say he is experienced no matter how many starts he has.

I'd rather have then Bledsoe too. He is a better backup QB.

Bledsoe believes that he can still start in the NFL.

Good signing for the 'Girls. Brad would have been good at helping Cutler progress.

Wright or Harrington would be better fits with the Broncos if they had to play since both have mobility, while Johnson is pretty much a statue. Actually, Johnson is even less mobile than Bledsoe, so Dallas could have troubles if they have to go to their backup.

why is mobility the thing everyone seems to have as priority #1?!?!?! i realize it is A PART of our offense, but its not as important as you guys are making it out to be. Being a good mentor and leader as well as knowing how to win is much more important. Brad signing in Dallas is a big loss, whether or not he is slow.

Add another Big Guy on the Damn it band wagon. Cutler needs a teacher/mentor. No one better than Johnson was available.

Probably because if Johnson has to play, teams will blitz the crap out of him and look what happened in Minnesota last year as a result of his inability to escape pressure. It's hard to have immobile QB's unless you have a system designed for the QB to get rid of the ball quickly, which the Broncos don't really have. If worried about a mentor for Cutler, then why not hire a Steve Beurlein or someone like that as a QB coach or assistant of some kind?
