I was watching the game at a bar and noticed DJ wasn't there for the last 3 series on defense and Winborn was in there? Did he get injured?

Did anyone else notice Jamie Winborn #51 making plays in the 4th Qtr? Why wasn't DJ in there did he get hurt? Was he pulled ala TD in blowouts back in the glory days? Am I imagining things?
Granted I could be wrong, but I could have swore I saw Winborn make a tackle and was then congratulated by Webster and Gold suggesting that DJ was not on the field. Can anyone help me out here. Was DJ injured, benched in a blowout? Assessing personnel issues for next season? Was I too drunk at the time to grasp the reality of the situation at hand? Winborn was making tackles. Am I insane? |

doesnt DJ have a torn muscle? I remember hearing something about it earlier in the season...maybe they benched him cuz of the lead because he is by far the best LB on the team

That's true, I forgot about that, it was a pec muscle or something of the sort. Might explain his absence.

He was shaken up on the previous series when he and John Lynch made that tackle on the goalline. He was down for a bit after that play. The next series Winborn came in.

Yeah, Lynch blew up DJ and Kolby Smith on the same play. I think he'll be fine, Winborn did play pretty well in his absence.

Wilborn and Paul Smith both were bringing it on Special teams coverage today. Looked like a differnet squad out there!

Looked to me that he and Lynch cracked heads on that play. Probably was doozy and with the lead, let him sit. You could hear that pop on TV.

I thought that DJ looked good today. He had a bunch of plays where he met the HB in the hole.
I think its funny that our defense looked so good 1st week post-Sam Adams. |

Winborn might be the best LBer on the team,. He needs more reps. He also had two great Special teams tackles.

then again everybody looks good in a 41-7 romp... i'm glad we won so convincingly but it also scares me that we may think the team is better than it is.... i mean nate webster looked like an animal out there....we both know that can't be the case right? |

I remember asking the same question, but shortly after that, they showed what I believve were four LB's coming off the field (regular 3 + Winborn). I don't know if we were trying him out in the "Big Nickel" package we used to run with Sam Brandon (big guy covering big tight ends).
I will have to watch it again, but that's what I thought at the time. |

Footnotes. It's true. The Broncos are throwing the ball more to Graham than New England did. After a fine game Sunday, Graham has 23 catches for 244 yards, his best season totals since 2004. Returners Andre Hall and Glenn Martinez returned after they sat out the Oakland game. Hall suffered a thumb injury and safety Hamza Abdullah was poked in the eye. Abdullah didn't return but said he is fine. |

Maybe if we were playing 8 in the box, they essentially had a 4-4 alignment.
