New Poster - random Bronco thoughts
New poster here, life long Broncos fan - my thoughts this off season
1.) All the rumor talk of trading for Houston's #8 overall is pretty exciting, but I dont know how valid any of it is.
If it happens, I would love to see the team try to move up again with that #8 and perhaps our round 3rd pick and a player if needed to snag A.Petersen.
I know Denver has history of plugging in RBs and having success with them but I also think that has a lot to do with the fact the Broncos are rarely in postition to take an elite RB prospect to begin with.
After picking up Cutler, Jevon Walker, and the potential T.Sheffler and B.Marshall showed - I wouldnt mind the Broncos bucking the RB trend in favor of adding another potential superstar to a solid young offensive corps.
If not - obviously I would hope they could get a true difference maker on the D Line with that #8 overall pick. Who?
2.) If we stay put at #21 - D Line is deep in this draft, but we could also use a cover safety. Who could be available that could provide impact at either position at this spot?
3.) FA / Trades:
I hope we dont try to bring in J.Lewis. I think his best days are behind him and wont live up to the contract he likely demands.
I am also not sold on Thomas Jones, I think he is overrated.
Willis McGahee is likely too expensive and I still cringe remembering his knee injury.
In other words, I dont want to see an expensive used RB on our roster. If we are going to invest in a RB, go for broke on Petersen. If not, fall back on the status quo (late round, plug in a system guy)
I wouldn't mind bringing in P.Kearney provided his contract is reasonable - but seems every year teams overpay for a pass rusher who doesnt produce compared to the contract he signs. He is solid, but not spectacular. Thoughts?
4.) Coaching staff:
Like what we have done with the changes on defense.
Any word on if Bobby Turner will stay or go to Miami? IMO an unsung hero in our running game's history of consistency and would hate to see him go.
Also heard Alex Gibbs is available as consultant, I would love to bring him back. Our o-line hasnt been quite the same since he left

I have doubts they can really trade up for Houston's #1 pick. Houston is on the spot already with so many people believing they goofed not taking Bush, so not sure the fans would go for trading the pick.
I would prefer Lewis over Jones if signing a RB. Lewis is still pretty young at 27 years old, but they were interested in him before. But I see the Broncos signing a RB in free agency and taking another one in the draft someplace.
Kerney would be a nice pickup for two reasons. He has a track record of getting to the QB and would allow any rookie DE that probably gets drafted to watch and learn and not have to be thrown into the mix even if not ready.
Hopefully Turner stays and it would be great if Gibbs did come back, but not sure how his relationship with Shanahan is at this point.

Good to have you. I doubt that it applies, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. If you happen to be a teen Ethiopian boy, there are certain posters here you will want to stay away from. Don't respond to requests for sleepovers. Don't respond if they say something to the effect of, "I give the best tailgates here."
I won't tell you who they are, because I don't want to slander them. But one of their names might just rhyme with Rot Hod.
That's all I'm saying.

Hell, Shanny may be hoping Turner gets a job offer somewhere. He might be thinking Turner's too big for his britches here lately.
