Lidge is obviously still suffering from that 3 run shot he gave up to Pujols. He hasn´t been the same since.

I gambled on Lidge in the 11th round of a draft. Not looking like a wise risk at the moment.

If he gets loses his closer spot, I'm banishing him to waiver wire land.

Behind a dominant performance by Jake Peavy and a 4 for 5 day at the plate from Josh Bard...the Madres stomp the Giants 7-0. The first opening day shut out by SD in the club's history.

Tomorrow should be a good one...Chris Young vs. Matt Cain.

I loved the deal that brought him over from the Mets last year.

Keep dreaming. Schilling is still getting into shape because he was unable to get his regular off season condition program going this year, he will bounce back. Meche had a heck of game, but Sox bats will get it going and Beckett and Dice K nice stopper to have if Schilling struggles early

You need to spread some of that love to Wakefield. I have feeling that he goes on one of those rolls with knuckler this year.

I am not holding out hope for Clemens, I think he will end up back in Houston. Just so he could play with his son.

The youngsters come up huge for the Rockies. Troy Tulowitzki with a two out RBI double in the 11th to tie it and an RBI single by Chris Iannetta to win it.

The kids are alright.

The Mariners can surpass their win total of last year against the A's in the 2nd game of the season, lol.

Also, Hurdle sucks at managing. I mentioned it in the Rockies thread, but nobody out, bottom 11, runners 1st and 2nd and down a run, bunt the men over. Instead, Hawpe hits into a double play, 2 outs, runner on 3rd. Lucky Troy and Ianetta bailed him out with some clutch hits.
I will say, I like Troy and Ianetta, I think they will be good hitters for the Rocks. Especially Troy. I could see him hitting 2nd by the end of the season, maybe. Solid power to left and right field, good defensively, I think he could become an All Star SS.

Hurdle wasn't managing in this game, he was serving a one game suspension for an incident in spring training. Jamie Quirk assumed the managerial duties tonight.

Your point that Hurdle sucks is still a valid one, though.

Beckett is going to have to find his curve ball again if he's going to be an ace. Teams with bats will just sit on that fast ball and shell the guy. I'm interested to see how he does against Toronto in the middle of April...

lol, forgot about that, the suspension, but damn, that almost killed me because its basic baseball, bunt the guys over, guaranteed a tie at least.
