For a while I thought about starting a thread where folks in the community can exchange information about any good books that they read and point out something that some of us, might missed at the bookstore or library. Since I am iced in today I figure it might as well start the thread today. Perfect day to cozy up with a good book
As it probably fitting that first book I recommend is called (since deals with reason the mane is successful) "The Starfish and the Spider: The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations" Summary: It management book that exams the power of decentralized groups/circles (think early Napster, craigslist, Al Qaeda, AA, EBay and our own Orange Mane) and how they are more successful/innovative and then top down centralized companies (Music Industry Companies, GM, etc). It an easy read and has very usefully ideas that you bring to your boss, or those working for you to make your company/organization be a lot more nimble./energized, and how to inspire your social group/company (circle in the author's terms) to take advantage of the network. Out of 5 beers (1 being the Milwaukee Best Light and 5 being Guinness) it a 4 beers rating. Great ideas, easy read and nice job of develop some of the central themes. Hopefully you have something out there your read that just as good to share with the rest of Omane community. anything goes and it all about sharing. |

I've always like John Grisham books. The Client, The Partner and The Chamber were all very good books.
Here are some of my favorites. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Vince Flynn is my favorite author. Filled with non stop action, and page turning suspense.

"When Pride Still Mattered" by David Maraniss
Book's about the life and leadership of Vince Lombardi - 4 1/2 beers. "Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer" by Warren St. John Documentary of a free-lance writer who spends a season tailgating at every game with the Alabama Crimson Tide RVers to try to get a better grasp on the mentality of the sports fan. Pretty funny, especially if you tailgate to road games. Probably the fastest I've ever finished a book. - 4 1/2 beers |
