Default Plummer trade with Houston

The Broncos trade Plummer plus our second and a second 3 round pick for Seth Payne and Houston second pick, The Broncos target Michael Bush, Griffen ,Ross or Merriweather in the second round. Then my dream draft would be 1 Adam Carriker 2 Michael Griffen 3 Kareem Brown plus they added Seth Payne.

The way Shanahan has been talking, he obviously feels Plummer has trade value. How much remains to be seen.

There's been talk of a Plummer and our second for Houston's second and a 5th or 6th rounder. So if that has any validity you're saying Payne is worth a mid-3rd rounder?

Hell no. I'd be cool with getting Payne as a body for the DT rotation, but not at that high a cost.

Payne's season-ending injury last season is probably career-ending.

Just use Jake as collateral to move up in the 2nd with Houston.

Payne is washed up, and clearly his best years are behind him. That was before he suffered a season ending injury last year.

If anybody thinks we will be able to do a straight up deal for Jake and a pick is dreaming. I wouldn't release Plummer's rights unless it will really benefit us. Kubiak knows that he is on a limited time frame with Houston. He has to make some wins start rolling in quickly because coaches only get a season or two of below .500 ball before the home city gets restless. Plummer would be enough of a vet, and upgrade to put that team in contention. They are not that far away. They beat Jax twice last season, Indy once and I'm not sure about Tennessee. They could compete for a 8-8 or 9-7 record if they play their cards right.

I don't see the trade with houston happening... I just can't believe other coaches in the NFL are unable to see game tape of last season. I want to get compensation for the guy as much as anyone... But put yourself in the shoes of another teams fans. How pissed would you be if your team gave up a 3rd round pick for Jake Plummer?

And as far as the Houstonians are concerned, that whole FO is on a short leash for passing on Bush and especially, Young - regardless of how good Mario is. I wonder if people aren't pasting Plummer to Kubes merely because they know, and like, each other. I don't know if that move would go over too well amongst their fans. "Great! We pass on VY and Bush and go after Jake?" Not exactly the way to earn fan love down there. Now, if they were to do what it took to trade up for AD, that might sell some season tickets. I imagine Millen would listen to offers.

If I'm Houston, I make some moves to solidify the QB play as well as developing for the future. I think Plummer can help them win now... but they need to draft a young guy as well. IF I was Rick Smith, I would consider a vet that can come in and win right away (Plummer can, 40-18 as a starter in Denver) and I would think very hard about drafting a QB, maybe Quinn, with their number one pick.

That is a lot of resources devoted to QB play but lets be honest... in the AFC South, they are going to need it going against Manning and Young twice each season.

Our second and Plummer for Houston's second makes sense for both teams. Denver would get late-3rd value for Plummer, which they are not going to get otherwise, and moves into the top part of round 2, where they could get someone like Griffin, Mebane, Crowder, Abriami, Rice, or Harrell. I would be happy with any of those guys. For Houston, they could add a veteran QB who has proven he can lead a team to the playoffs, keep the ammo to move up for Peterson and can then move Carr for another pick. Adding Peterson and Plummer, plus a couple of other first day picks could help turn that franchise around in a hurry.

agreed. i personally would like to switch thirds with them too but maybe im trying to get too much out of the deal. getting into the top half of the second would be a major upgrade. any of the players you listed plus maybe even a patrick willis could fall.

Put yourself in Houston's shoes. If you had the chance to send Carr for an earlier 3rd, then send your 2nd for the Broncos 2nd and Jake you're walking away with a veteran QB Kubiak knows how to work with, an extra third, and the price you paid was moving back 13 spots in the second.

If I was a Houston fan I'd laugh my way to the bank and expect the team to finally win some close games with a QB who wins games. Plummer might have really struggled last year but we were 7-4 with him at the helm. He doesn't make game losing mistakes and can avoid pressure on his own even when his line breaks down. That should be a breath of fresh air in Houston.

It was reported on Cold Pizza that Houston and Denver were in negotiations for Plummer last week. Id bet my bottom dollar that a deal is already in place.

And if you dont think we can get at least their third, maybe more for Plummer, think again. No other QB available offers more to Kubiak than Jake does. He knows the offense inside and out. He will be able to help coach the team with his knowledge, not to mention he will be a coach on the field. If you draft a kid, hes not going to pay off this year.......meaning Kubiak is messing with his job security and future if the kid flops. Plummer gives him stability and help because unlike Carr, Plummer doesnt hold onto the ball forever. That means sack totals will go down, not to mention stalling drives.

Other than Jake, no one offers more. Not Garcia, not Leftwich, not Bledsoe, nor Johnson.

Theres a market for Plummer, and Houston will probably give more than they want to secure his services and cap friendly contract. Jake will do whatever to get back with Kubes.

My guess is Denver either gets somewhere between their second and third guaranteed. If Miami gave a second rounder for a Culpepper with a shredded knee, Jake will probably get the same.......but only from Houston.
Houston NEEDS Jake.

I think it might be possible they talk Denver into Jake and Tatum for their second.

How about Jake and our third from Washington, and fourth from Washington next year, for their first round pick next year............

That amounts to Jake and Lelie for their first next year....................

If we could get Houston's 3rd for Jake straight up, that would be unbelievably great. Three thirds!!!! That's prolly asking a bit much, but really if they have already ruled Carr out of their future there isn't a whole lot out there for them in terms of other options.

Unfortunately, the Redskins don't have a second, third or fourth round pick this year.

Bummer.

Great then I'd have to cheer against Kubes all year, that would be bitter sweet.

I would love to move up to texans second round pick. The Broncos trade Plummer and their second and their 2 third for Houston second and 5 round draft picks.

There is no question the logical move for both Pubes and Jake is Houston, and will garner the best compensation. I think this will be a friendly divorce here, and all three parties will treat and act amicably and fairly.

They might right now allready getting a new cap friendly contract negotiated. Jake is perfectly healthy and has plenty of tread left. I wonder if Carr is in the mix...I doubt it but it's possible.

We eat the signing bonus anyway one or two years...Denver can move around to free up some cap money.

I've been very impressed that we were able to get Cutler and still have a full draft last year and will have a full draft this year. I'm 99.9 percent sure Jake will be a Texan. Git R Done!

I also doubt T. Bell is moved.

So that values Jake at around a late 4th? How about no?
