Default Well, looks like Im gettin hitched

So, pray or congratulate or whatever you want to do. Lord knows I dont deserve this woman nor her daughter to be part of my family but, being as teh Lord loves me more than most of you, He said "Let you be blessed among the wretched".

Heh, just kidding. Anyway, Im doing this thing in September and was wondering about some good honeymoon spots. Maybe get some advice

Let me give you the conditions:
1) Pops has enough frequent flier miles to go anywhere in the US including Hawaii and Alaska.
2) Mom is giving 1K of spending money.
3) Places not within my interest: Las Vegas, California, NYC, Miami.
4) Current places of interest: Alaska (possibly a cruise), Hawaii, Virgin Islands, Colorado.

Im looking for some first hand recommendations for the above mentioned places or other places that I dont know about. Anything goes as far as activities, weather, scenery. I dont want to stay in the country as I have no desire to see the darkness beyond America's borders at this time. That, and I cant really afford to leave the country though since the Caribbean is so close that is within my realm of financial acceptability.

Id prefer to be where you know, people are friendly, speak English and have cheap booze and above all will be a good time for both me and my gal. She wants warm weather, white sand beaches, Id like that but would also prefer to see some glaciers and/or the Aurora Borealis. Im nto sure what the northern lights are like in September or even if you can see them, but if so, how far north do I have to go?

Anyway, let's hear some suggestions.

Congrats Alec!

If you are thinking about Colorado any of the Ski area town in September should be beautiful. Leaves changing, mild weather (might be too mild for a p***Y like you though) and it's off season rates at the various hotels/resorts. If you like to hike, raft, mountain bike, fish, lake kayak or would like to try these things head to Summit County or the Vail Valley. Estes Park would be cool too. Lots of good B & Bs, front gate of Rocky Mountain National Park, Elk are bugling. I think these are all fairly inexpensive honeymoon ideas.

oh, and there's great pot in CO!

I didnt want it during football season because invariably I will end up with an anniversary day on football Sunday which is going to cause issues but I also wanted to wait until I was officially off probation which doesnt end until September 6th.

Typically it's great 70 degree weather in September in the high country....however there's a decent chance of it getting cold and possibly snowing. Let me know if you want any more info on this stuff. I bet Meck can give you some Steamboat ideas (which is just West of RMNP)

Congrats! If you are looking for somewhere with some nice weather then Hawaii is choice. It's 80-85 year round. I would recommend Kauai. It is absolutely gorgeous and very romantic.

Kauai is awesome, very expensive (Hotel, food, drink, activities) though. I've been there a few times and loved it. Kauai =

Congratulations, man. Marriage can either be a blessing or a curse, and most of it will depend on what you make of it.

As for the honeymoon, there's no place I've ever been (and I've been everywhere, man - at least in the US) that I'd rather go for a short period of time than Hawaii. If I was going for, say, a week, I'd split time between Oahu and Maui - probably 3 days and 4 days, in that order. Lots of great hotels on each, depending on your budget.

Yes yes, thanks for all the congrats, honeymoon ideas, come on people! Hawaii is already on my list and appreciate the good comments about one of those islands I cannot pronounce but will likely enjoy.

More, I got like 8 months to decide here so need all the info I can get.

If I was going to take my wife on a second Honeymoon right now, it would be a Mexico cruise.

Go to either the Big Island of Hawaii or Kauai. Oahu sucks and is too crowded, Maui is fun but is becoming more like Oahu. If you just want to chill out with your new bride the Big Island and Kauai are great. Be warned if you like to go out and party then you may want to look at Oahu and Maui. There isn't much night life on the Big Island and Kauai. I have three brothers who currently live on the big island and I don't think they will ever leave. However, depending on how long you go for it could get pricey. Check into some of the hotels on the Koahla Coast of the Big Island. Hilton Waikoloa Village is a cool hotel. Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and the Hapuna Beach Hotel sit on the two nicest white sand beaches in all of Hawaii (imho). There is another hotel next to the Hilton Waikoloa that I believe is less expensive than the others if you are just looking for a basic hotel with out alot of frills but you want to be in Hawaii.
