TEAM NAME POS. HT. WT. COLLEGE
1. Raiders JaMarcus Russell QB 6-5 253 LSU Tremendous athletic ability combined with a powerful arm makes Russell a quarterback who could turn sad sack Raider franchise around with just a little bit of help. He has the build of a defensive lineman and is difficult to bring down. Has a fluid throwing motion and great confidence. At times he will try to force the ball into coverage and that will be a habit he has to break. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Lions Brady Quinn QB 6-4 228 Notre Dame Based on his history, Matt Millen will probably be tempted to pick receiver Calvin Johnson, but he won’t be able to pass on the Notre Dame stud. Quinn has all the physical attributes NFL teams want in quarterbacks. Arm strength, accuracy, the ability to survey the field along and pocket awareness are his best attributes. He needs to learn to throw with a little less zip on his short passes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Browns Joe Thomas OT 6-7 310 Wisconsin Cleveland needs tons of help on the offensive line and that makes Thomas the pick over Georgia Tech's Calvin Johnson. Thomas is a big, strong man who has been consistent as a run blocker throughout his career and has improved steadily as a pass blocker. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Bucs Alan Branch DT 6-6 327 Michigan A huge man who can shut down the interior run and collapse the pocket from the middle. Jon Gruden says his team needs pass rush, pass rush and more pass rush which will make Clemson’s Gaines Adams tempting, but Branch will give the aging Tampa Bay defense the new blood it desperately needs. His height could be an issue because smaller offensive linemen will have more leverage. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Cardinals Gaines Adams DE 6-5 257 Clemson If Calvin Johnson is still on the board, the Cardinals could trade down in a two-for-one trade. New coach Ken Whisenhunt is an offensive minded leader, but the Cardinals were 29th in total yards allowed and need a difference maker on defense. Adams should be just that as long as he is motivated. Some scouts think he could take it easy once he has his payday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Redskins Leon Hall CB 5-11 193 Michigan A great technician who can mirror the best receivers because of his work ethic and skills. He runs well, but Hall is not a true burner for the position. Gibbs will be tempted by Johnson as well, but the Redskins were killed by their pass defense all season. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Vikings Calvin Johnson WR 6-4 226 Georgia Tech An impact player who has prototype size, speed and leaping ability. Johnson is similar to Houston’s Andre Johnson, who led the NFL with 103 receptions. Calvin Johnson is big, physical and tough and plays his best when the game is one the line. He can overpower nearly every cornerback he will play. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8. Texans Adrian Peterson RB 6-2 220 Oklahoma A sensational back who may have the potential to turn this error-prone franchise around. We are not suggesting that Peterson will make up for not drafting Reggie Bush a year ago, but Peterson has power, breakaway speed, athletic moves and big-play ability. He may not be the most durable player, however. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9. Dolphins LaRon Landry FS 6-2 208 LSU A big-time hitter who has the intelligence, instincts and physical talent to change a game. Landry will fly to the football and make plays. He also can also play corner or strong safety. Better prospect than his brother Dawan, a safety from LSU who was drafted by the Ravens in the fourth round last year and had an excellent season. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10. Falcons Dwayne Jarrett WR 6-5 213 USC Atlanta could move up in the draft to select Johnson, but Jarrett is a fine pick regardless. Michael Vick has poor weapons at the receiver position and new coach Bobby Petrino wants to install a complex offense that relies on the medium-range pass. Jarrett is not only a top-notch receiver, but he has improved steadily throughout his career. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11. Niners Amobi Okoye DT 6-2 317 Louisville Tremendous upside on a player who is only 19. Great quickness and instincts, Okoye can take over at his position and cause havoc with his quickness. Bigger guards could cause problems, but his first step and moves should make him a productive player. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12. Bills Jamaal Anderson DE 6-6 272 Arkansas It would be tough to find a player who improved as much through his college career as Anderson. He ended his career as a first-team All-SEC player with 47 tackles and 14.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Quickness and a strong first step are attributes, but is a bit inexperienced 19 starts at defensive end. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 13. Rams DeMarcus “Tank” Tyler DT 6-2 310 N.C. State St. Louis has needed an infusion of physical toughness for some time. Tyler is strong and can dominate in the middle of the line of scrimmage. He plays with a low center of gravity and has excellent strength at the point of attack. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 14. Panthers Paul Posluszny LB 6-2 235 Penn State An instinctive player who will outwork the competition. After his knee injury following the 2005 season, he was full healthy by the midway point of the 2006 season. Explosive hitter with outstanding range. He plays with intelligence and emotion. At times will be too aggressive and overrun a play. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 15. Steelers Levi Brown OT 6-4 324 Penn State A big, physical tackles with excellent durability and natural attributes. Can control a pass rusher with his long, strong arms and has a powerful base. Needs to control his emotions, and there could be questions about his maturity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 16. Packers Ted Ginn Jr. WR 6-0 182 Ohio State A playmaker who can give his team a lift as a receiver or a return man. He not only times well for the stopwatch, he is fast in and out of his cuts and is an improved route runner. He will have to show he can deal with the physical play in the NFL, but once he makes the adjustment he should be a highlight film guy for years. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17. Jaguars Sidney Rice WR 6-4 205 South Carolina He disappointed Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier with his decision to declare, but he is a big, physical receiver who can make the tough catch in traffic and has also shown he can make big plays when the game is on the line. The Jaguars have a huge need at receiver and Rice can turn this position from a weakness to a strength in a hurry. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18. Bengals Justin Blalock OT 6-4 332 Texas A massive lineman who can crush opponents in the running game and is solid as a pass blocker. Has the ability to engulf defensive ends and redirect them. Much stronger as a run blocker than a pass blocker, but he should be able to improve in that area. May be better suited for guard than tackle. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19. Titans Darrelle Revis CB 6-0 194 Pittsburgh A skilled performer who excels in man-to-man coverage with range and solid hands. Revis plays his best against top competition. If he had a bit more speed and athleticism he would be viewed as a can’t miss prospect. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20. Giants Marshawn Lynch RB 5-11 221 Cal A major need for the Giants. Lynch gives them the kind of instincts and all-around running ability to step right in for Tiki Barber. He is a patient runner who can wait for his blocks and then zip through the cracks for big plays. Elusive once he gets into the open field. He also has the kind of power that can stun linebackers and defensive backs. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21. Broncos Victor Abiamiri DE 6-4 266 Notre Dame Abiamiri is a paradox. He is one Notre Damer who has largely been overlooked throughout his career despite great athletic ability and excellent pass-rushing technique. He has also been a durable performer who has never missed a game due to injury. Big and has the frame to get even bigger. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 22. Cowboys Lawrence Timmons OLB 6-3 232 Florida State There’s no doubt Bill Parcells loves linebackers with the initials LT, but Timmons has a long way to go before he can approach Lawrence Taylor’s ability. Timmons has the athletic ability scouts seek and the great quickness off the snap. However, his instincts are not great and he will misdiagnose plays and overrun the ball from time to time. His teammate Buster Davis is a legitimate NFL prospect who often covered up Timmons’ errors. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 23. Chiefs LaMarr Woodley DE 6-1 273 Michigan Big, strong and powerful, Woodley had a monstrous senior season for the Wolverines. While there was plenty of talent on Michigan, his ability to stop the run was a reason the Wolverines dominated for so long. While he is on the short side and may be considered a tweener by some, he has good technique for the position and knows how to flatten out and get to the quarterback. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 24. Patriots(from Seattle) A.J. Davis CB 5-10 190 N.C. State While the Patriots have clear needs at receiver, Bill Belichick and G.M. Scott Pioli love to do the unexpected. Belichick always values corners with speed and instincts and that means Davis is his kind of player. Excellent leaping ability and balance, but isn't physical or effective against the run. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 25. Jets Zach Miller TE 6-5 260 Arizona State The Jets will have to be tempted by a quarterback, but Chad Pennington has plenty left -- plus a tight end like Miller will help him out. Miller does not have eye-popping speed, but knows how to get open, make the tough catch in traffic and make big plays in the clutch. Nicknamed “The Truth” by his teammates because he lived up to his billing with the Sun Devils. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 26. Eagles Dwayne Bowe WR 6-2 222 LSU A big-time, big-game receiver who emerged as a playmaker this season. Excellent size and strength and he uses those advantages to win the battle against smaller defensive backs. Has fine speed and the power to break tackles. Good-to-excellent hands. Not super quick off the line of scrimmage. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 27. New Orleans Patrick Willis MLB 6-2 235 Mississippi Clearly the best middle linebacker in the draft. He should be able to start right away and stop the run because he is big, thick and mean. However, he is not the pass defender he needs to be at the next level and must show improvement in coverage. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 28. Patriots Adam Carriker DE 6-6 292 Nebraska Bill Belichick can never have enough strong defensive players, and with some wear and tear starting to show on the defensive line, Carriker would be a great fit. He is a hard worker who is tough against the run and also has the first step to get around the offensive tackle. He has long arms, and that should enable him to bat down passes. His physical tools are excellent and he could become a Pro Bowl type player with some work on his technique. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 29. Colts Aaron Ross CB 6-0 192 Texas A physical corner who is not afraid to throw his body around against the run. He also has the excellent coverage skills needed and can make the difficult interception. He should work well with a hard-hitting safety like Bob Sanders. Can go along way toward giving the Colts a more physical defensive identity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 30. Ravens Antonio Pittman RB 5-11 197 Ohio State An opportunistic running back who can get the tough yards in the middle or break the big play to the outside. While he has been overshadowed at Ohio State by players like Troy Smith, Anthony Gonzalez and Ted Ginn Jr, Pittman is the kind of player who can make big plays when it matters most. He has a chip on his shoulder and if he thinks he is being disrespected, he will make his opponent pay. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 31. Bears Robert Meachem WR 6-3 212 Tennessee Great size and speed combination for a team that has lacked big-time playmakers at the wideout position for years. Meachem has the look and feel of a great deep threat. He has long arms, gets deep in a hurry and extends well for the ball. He is strong enough to run through tackles. Needs some work on his ability to make plays in traffic. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 32. Chargers Anthony Gonzalez WR 6-0 195 Ohio State The Chargers had an outstanding season but there are some holes. Particularly at the receiver position where they lacked consistency. Gonzalez is not necessarily a home run hitter, but he runs outstanding routes and has excellent hands. He should be catching passes from Philip Rivers for years. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

You'd think they'd have the sense to update it after the SB.

No Reggie Nelson? Some say he might get picked as high as #10 to Atlanta. Good lord. Skins spending the #6 pick on a CB, when they drafted Rogers not too long ago?
No Moses or Moss? Pittman in the 1st? Bah |

Hands down the worst mock I've seen this year.
Off the top of my head: Teams passing on Calvin Johnson to #7? He won't get past 4. Giants taking an RB? Sorry, Jacobs is good, they know it, and will roll with him and a speedy #2 next year, won't invest a first on it. Leon Hall isn't going to be a top 10 pick after he runs his combine 40. Gaines Adams will not go before Jamaal Anderson. Okoye will not be drafted as a 3-4 NT. Poszlosney won't go before Willis. Carriker won't be the 8th DL in the first round, and there won't even be 8 first round DLs. Close, 6 maybe 7, but not 8. Pittman, Gonzalez, Blalock, Zack Miller, AJ Davis, and Lamaar Woodley won't be 1st rounders. I'm doubtful Abiamiri or Tyler will either. Its like they're just throwing together various sources of hype they've heard, not realizing that the recent workouts obviously are far more relevant than the months old crap they're buying into. |

Anthony Gonzalez might not be a first rounder, but he's going to have success at the next level.

IMO, somebody will get a steal with Steve Smith in the third round. He got overshadowed by all the other stars on the Trojans, but the guy is as reliable as the sunrise. He's one of those lunchpail recievers that every team needs. Nothing spectacular. Just catches the ball and gets the yards, game after game after game.
