The CFL and The Arena League might be excited about these two hitting the market.

Guess that means they'll be going after a couple DT with Warren and Veal all that's left.

Hmm, replacing them shouldn't be too difficult. They were serviceable at best.

Didn't we just grab Carlisle of the street? He won't get much action. Too small for the taste of most NFL oline coaches and not that talented. Meyers is a journeyman dt that wont get much coin, or be missed much if he goes. I can't really remember one play that has stood out in my mind from him.

Couple of mere cogs but they're starters...what does this mean for comp picks if they leave?

I like Myers. He's been underrated during his time here. With that said, I believe he's 30 or 31. Plus, we need to put a difference maker somewhere on the line, and while he's solid, a difference maker he's not.

as long as we didn't sign 2 guys to offset it we could possibly get a comp pick or 2. It all has to do with the ratio of how many FA you lost compared to how many you signed.

I don't mind having Myers back, but he is a #3 DT at best in a rotation. I was watching Warren play with bad toes all year and Myers getting blown off the ball regularly.
Cooper is merely adequate as well. I would rather see another Kuper starting in his place. Both of these guys could easily be replaced by a fraction of the cost. If Myers leaves at least we will be forced to find somebody new to plug into his spot. |

Carlisle was a 4th round draft pick by the Broncos a few years ago.

They are UFAs, correct? I thought Den pretty routinely let guys check their values, if they wished to, and left the door open if the value was in line with what Den thought and could fit into the cap?
I'm not ok with Carlisle moving on. Myers is most likely ready to start, but RT is in dissaray. I'm not sure they'd do it, or even should, but what would be the cap impact of cutting Foster? And, I'm still not sure that his regression isn't at least partly the coaching staff's fault for having him a 335lb road grader (with a lawnmower engine). |

I think this is a bad move. Myers is a good rotation guy who can play both DE and DT and a good character guy. Carlisle is one of the most underrated guards in the NFL and will probably get a good sized deal somewhere else.

I realise most of us rate both these players as nothing more than average but the bottom line is both were starters and not because of injury. They were the 2nd best players at their respective positions on our roster. Let's hope they are not replaced by scrubs. BTW Kuper has proven nothing in this league yet so I'd hold up on automatically slotting him into the vacant guard spot. As we've witnessed so often on this team a training camp and pre-season whirlwind often peters out come cut down time.

Dumervil was one of the few bright spots on the D-line. I see him as a starter next year, as well. I agree with your overall statement, though. Last year was a GREAT draft...

Didn't Myers do what he was supposed to do in Coyer's scheme? I thought Carlisle did a pretty good job and someone pointed out n a thread a while back that a lot of yards were picked up behind Carlisle's blocks......
There are some options there, but Myers' potential leaving means there are maybe two Dlinemen needed. Slipping backwards..... |

I'd be a little worried going with Meyers and Kuper to replace Carlisle with no safety net, but Carlisle isn't exactly a stud anyhow, so trying some young blood might be just what our interior OL needs. I'm fine with both of them leaving, Myers should be a rotational player, Carlisle is league average but its a lop sided average, much better run blocker than pass blocker. Letting them go opens the door for improved replacements. |
