Just played in the LA poker Classic at Commerce Casino in the $300 limit holdem and came in 115 out of 540. Finally a tourney with blinds at least 40 minute long. Hand I went out on? Pocket queens up against A K spades. Hit trips on flop but spade on river gave nut flush. Next up is WSOP $300 NL holdem at Harrahs RINCON in San Diego. Start of the circuit events. Good luck this poker year.

We are planning on being out in Vegas for the WSOP. Wife is going to play in the ladies event. I would like to play in either one of the lower buy in Omaha events or some other mixed event, although my tournament play sucks lately.

Heck not this year. Im going to be playing my very first real $ games on my cruise. I've up till now only played in local tournys and while I've done very well I think its prolly easier playing without my own dough on the table
![]() I'll test the waters on some limit hold'em and see how I fair. I love no limit tournys to be honest. I've tried my hand at computer poker and really dont do very well. Im thinking its the lack of human element that hurts my game. I also need to get more experiance before jumping in with the big fish. Heck I'm surprised I've done as well as I have considering I'm just now starting to understand position/odds/outs & the theorys behind betting. It must have been beginners luck to this point. ![]() I look at the fact that every finals table I've been seated at I get taken apart in fairly short order. Im not up to par with the serious/experianced players yet. Out of 5 tournys I've made the final table 3 times but my highest finish was 7th. Once Im thrown in with the big dogs they simply beat the crap out of me. A perfect example of my demise at finals tables. I'm under the gun with pocket Q's. I limp in and everyone but one guy bails on the hand. The flop comes up K K 8. I'm thinking oh crap I just know that guy has a K thats why he stayed in. So I check and he quickly checks behind me. (Im very short stacked and in danger of getting blinded out soon if I dont pick of some chips mind you) So I'm so obsessed with the K's on the flop and happy he does not raise. The turn comes up some crap like 2. I look at the table and dont see alot of danger from a straight or flush and am certain he does not have the 3rd K so I go all in. He VERY QUICKLY and quite excitedly I might add follows me in. I turn my QQ and he turns his AA......**** Last edited by Hotrod; 01-30-2007 at 01:31 PM.. |

I think I might try to make that over presidents weekend. I could prolly manage to make the 60/60 & C-note on a Saturday and the 40/30/30 & C-note on Sunday. Thats 300 bucks but 4 shots over a long weekend to justify the drive
![]() Or maybe just both C-notes..... |

The 40/30/30 is a pretty good one. You buy in all at once and they give you more chips to start off with

Anyone want to analize my final hand in my previous post. I dont really know what else I could have done in that situation. Did I play that correct or should I have done something different.....besides the obvious fold post flop.

I twould have not mattered in that situation since aces limped in also. You dont want a ton of calls in early position as you are inviting many to limp in with k 5 and hit the king nd knock u out. If you have 5 to 6 times the blind or less, u have to go all in. 7 to 8 times I would raise 3 times if no one else has raised. If someone raised before you, reraise all in and get (hopefully) that heads up with that player. Sometimes being OTG and short stack might make others think you are desperate and calling with ace 7 which if they have anything like Q J , they might call with odds and pot in their favor.

I've never played in a tournament but last night I fell asleep watching some WSOP. I was on a roll in my dream. It was wild. I kept seeing the cards in my dream. My hands must have been tied to what was on the TV. It was so vivid I could even see the pile of cash on the table. Woke up before I could grab the cash though. Damn.

UPDATE: WSOP CIRCUIT HARRAHS RINCON
649 Players $300 +$40 NL hold em Place 126th READ MY POST FROM THE Commerce Casino and you almost have this final hand except worse. Blinds $300/$600 Ante $75 MY HAND Pocket Qs (again!) With $2675 left, i call raise then realize not much chips left so only right decision was going all in. Player reraises all in with his last 5k. Heads up. My queens versus his 10s YES 80 to 20% favorite. River comes 10 to f me out of a $7000 pot (averge was about 8300). At least the guy made the money thanks to that suck out. 5% chance of hitting the last 2 remaining 10s and i get screwed by poker gods. One thing i noticed was ace queen ruled regardless of being non favorite in heads up. Knocked guy out with that hand when he held ace king. FREE ROLL THIS SATURDAY. No money spent at least for this one. Good luck dengerate players. |

Ok AK if I can get there Im planning on trying to make the
Saturday 3pm $100 buy in <-----maybe and Sunday noon 40/30/30 (most likely) and maybe the 7pm $100 Its been a wild day. First they closed the road at fairplay/kenosia pass so I cancelled till tomarrow then they reopened so I figured I'd head out after work and just go the southern route thru down thru the springs and up. Now I just heard they are closing Monarch for avalance control for a couple of hours. I may have to cancel the trip till tomarrow morning or go all the way around and take a 6+hour trip to Denver ![]() |

I should play the noon tourney on Sunday. Make sure you get there around 10:30 or so, as they tend to sell out pretty quick. Just buy in and go piss away the rest of your money on slots

Well I played the Bicycle Club Big tournaments (all month long) $300 Limit Hold 'em with 149 players came in 43rd. About 28th percent. I slipped a little from 20% the last two tournies. Didnt have a bad beat to end tournament this time but worse bad beat was pocket 9s and flop is 9 4 4. I check until King hits turn. I call bet to get last two behind me to call or raise (yummy). THey fold but another stupid king hits river to give guy with K J a higher boat.

Getting killed with bigger boats has been tthe story of my 2007 also. Im going to Vegas at the end of March and hope to play in one of the Friday or Sat Bellagio tourneys. You guys see what former local boy Paul Wasicka has done in the month of March? over $900K in winnings!

Heres a question. There was a lady at one game this weekend. She bet anything/everything. Not little bets mind you retarded ****. Just chasing people off pots right and left. Now sure I took her down at the final table knowing I just needed to bust her ass with the nuts but it really pissed me off her style of play that is. I dont know have many freaking times I was pretty sure I had her but the cost was too much. She just bullied her way to the final table.
I did take her out finally. Heres the scoop. Someone limped in she raises 600 and I call with AA....blinds fold.....limper mucks. Thought about reraise here but knew damn well whatever the flop was she'd pull her bazillion chip raise but if I had re-raised she might not have. Sure enough the flop was crap and she goes all in about 2,000 I call she turns over some 3/8offsuit..............see you psyco. Am I wrong to not like someone elses style I guess its her right but it was kind of annoying knowing damn well he made the final table playing like that.Last edited by Hotrod; 03-06-2007 at 01:05 PM.. |

It either works for her or she is just psycho as correctly named. Normally, you will be able to take advantage of her. You played it perfectly. Best thing is to trap. Her raise of 600 was a huge percentage of what was left so you knew her thought was to push on flop. Congrats on final table. Just played last night a daily tournament of rebuys and add ons of 130 players. They paid to 18 and I get canned at 22nd place. Blinds at 1k and 2k with 200 antes. I could have folded KQ but decided I just dont want to money, I want to get deep in tournament so I push all in. Big blind has 10 5 suited so because it is suited (4% increase in hand) he decides to call and hits 5 on flop then kills me with str8. I figured most would fold with that hand to call 6k more but he did. Not a bad showing though.

AK,
you got rooms yet? I wonder if many rooms sell out that early in the schedule. I would love to play again but this time in Vegas. I am playing more HORSE or stud and Razz to get my overall game better. Ill play Limit and No limit Holdem for now. I need a cheaper HORSE tourney to start. Seems many are $500 and more. They have the circuit WSOP in Vegas sooner than the June July events. Last edited by ak1971; 03-11-2007 at 09:33 PM.. |

They had some circuit events in Iwoa, but I missed them, otherwisw i would have taken the drive Im going out at the end of March for 3 days to play. I really havent been playing a lot of holdem at all lately. Been playing a ton of Omaha. I think the cheapest HORSE tourney they have at the WSOP is $2500. I know they have a couple Omaha tourneys at Paris and I think at Orleans. The problem with anything but holdem, is you have to go up to pretty big stakes to find a table, and then you cant afford it. |
