Default The Official Make Your Picks here Thread (Mock Draft)

Folks, we will be starting the Draft this Sunday, January 28 at 12:00 PM Noon PST, at that time, Oakland and TheDave will be on the clock.

In the first round, each team will have 24 hours to make their selection, after that point, if they still have not made their selection, they may still pick at any time, but if there is a dispute on a player between two teams, just like in the real draft, its the first to the podium who wins. We will NOT simply select a player for a given team if they do not make their pick, as it would inevitably be stealing away a player that someone who is taking the draft seriously, was targetting and we arent going to reward the slacker to the detriment of that person who was taking it seriously. We will simply let it be. However, if that team has still not made a selection at a point of two weeks after the clock expired on that pick, we will choose a new poster for that team.

For subsequent rounds, the clock period for each selection will be 18 hours.
******CHANGE: We are now changing it to 12 hours per selection in the 4th round and on, per the wishes of the community

Please use this thread for ONLY (subject to a few exceptions listed below) making your selections. This year we will be using Jens's proposal, which is one thread solely for picks and another for discussion, analysis, ridicule, praise etc. of picks.

When you make your selection, please include the following in your post:

1) Player (first and last name)
2) College
3) The exact time and day you made your selection (you do not have to list the time in every one of the four US time zones, just your time zone and specify which one it is)
4) Which team/poster is next on the clock (This is optional, you dont necessarily have to do it, but it would be helpful.)

As noted above, there are a few narrow exceptions to the "only post your picks here rule". During M-F, I generally will not be online for most of the workday (9-5) PST, so I will not be able to always immediately update when the clock has expired on a team, so if the clock expires on some team, anyone can feel free (and is encouraged) to post that "X's teams time expired at ....., X is now on the clock".

I will try my best to PM each poster every time they get on the clock (although because I cant use the net at work, I wont be able to do it everytime as inevitably someone will get on the clock in the middle of the day), in that case, when I get home and notice a change, I'll PM them at that time. In any case though, if you recieve a PM or not, you are still responsible for checking in and making your pick on time when your slot comes up.

On this post and the following post, we will maintain the "Big Board" of all picks and I'll try to continually update it so posters can see who has come off the board when they are ready to pick. I'll also update it when I see that trades have been announced and agreed to on the trade thread.

Trade Key (for OM trades, real life trades will be noted as (from/XX) next to the pick.
* SF traded firsts with JAX and acquired JAX's 3rd rounder.

I dispute the draft order. The Tampa Bay/CLE selections have not been decided yet. Three is a lot more valuable than 4 and I want a coin flip

All Right lets get this party started... Since Da'Raiders have been on the clock since hiring Art Shell, I figured that there has been plenty of time to negotiate a contract early with this players agents. So without further delay........

With the 1st pick of the O'mane's 2007 draft the Oakland Raiders Select:

QB - LSU

JaMarcus Russell

6'6" 255 LBS

Pros: Has a rocket launcher attached to his right shoulder, tossing 70 yard passes without breaking a sweat. Good pocket passer who shifts well to avoid the rush. Has impressive touch for a guy with the best arm since Jeff George. Difficult to bring down. Has the most pure potential of any QB in this draft and most drafts of the decade. More upside than any player in the entire draft. Very intelligent, like a coach on the field.

Cons: Probably closer to 270 than his listed weight of 255. Was on a potential national championship team, loaded with talent, but still lost 2 games. Showed up when the spotlight was on him, but flew under the radar when it wasn't. Questionable work ethic. Inconsistent, needs to eliminate mistakes.

Pick made at 9:00pm Saturday January 27th...yeah it's early

Well, it was a nice idea, SoCal. Too bad this board has so many fugging me-first retards with the attention spans of gnats.

I don't think folks are doing it on purpose, maybe they just glazed over the first post in this thread.

To repeat, for all, please use this thread for PICKS ONLY, subject to the narrow exceptions listed above in the first post (i.e. if someone makes a pick and doesnt mention the time of their pick, mention it, or if someone makes a pick and doesnt mention who is next on the clock, mention it, or if the time expires, mention that X is now on the clock as of ..., etc.).

I am a huge Joe Thomas fan, thought long and hard about him, but here's the #4 pick:

Cleveland selects Adrian Peterson, RB Oklahoma

Pick was made at 7:29 PST p.m.

Arizona (SpringStein) is now on the board.

Russ Grimm goes crazy! He forgets he didn't get the Cards job and runs to the mike shouting, "Thank you Jesus!!!" (although he has not been known to ever have a religious experience before.)

Obviously, with the easiest selection, the Cardinals select:

Joe Thomas, T, Wisconsin

This pick was made at 9:00 Mountain Time. Herc and the Redskins have their moment of glory before heading off to the bars until round 5.

Miami (Arkansas Bronco) is now on the clock after their trade with Washington (Hercules Rockefeller) who was on the clock. Miami continues to have the time Washington had to make its pick, ...until tomorrow evening (Tues) at 9:00 PM Mountain time.
