Happy 9th Anniversary
I didn't remember until this afternoon when listening to ESPN Radio, but it is the ninth year to the date that the Denver Broncos won its first Super Bowl.
I wasn't thinking of the actual day that we won our first, but when I heard the guy (Jeff Rickard, who worked at KKFN when they won) mention it, I got goose bumps. The thing I enjoy about that is I expect that will happen every time I hear that for the rest of my existence.
A memorable day for me - watching by myself (I couldn't go to a party as I was too nervous) with my father, a Packers fan. My father never "went for a walk" a day that I can remember, but when the clock read 0:00, he said that's what he was doing. I had been jumping up and down so much after Mobley knocked down Favre's pass that I didn't even think about my father seeing his team lose for the first time in the Super Bowl - while I was seeing my team win its first.
It's memorable for all the struggles I had as a Broncos fan - year-after-year agonizing about every single down. To be rewarded with that win, and the feeling I had for John and Shannon and Steve, and others, was amazing. I was born in 1983, too young to remember the Super Bowls of the 80s - and not even alive for 1977. But I bought those on DVD so I could watch and further appreciate how lucky I was on January 25, 1998.
May we feel that way again soon!

A sweet day for me in many ways. In Vegas for the game with some good buddies. Hit a royal flush in Video Poker that Saturday, and hit Cheetahs with a wad-o-hundreds! Hungover as hell watching the game, but nuthin a few pitchers couldnt cure!
