Default ESPN Chat with David Irons

I thought this was hilarious. Plus see what he says in orange...

Quote:
David: So how has the week been for you?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:29 PM ET ) It has been great. I've beeing doing very well in one on ones. My week has been great. I'm doing a great job being around the ball and making plays.

Matt (Tallahassee, FL): Any predictions on next years BCS Championship game?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:30 PM ET ) It's going to be Auburn vs. Louisville! Louisville will edge us out by 3 points.

Brandon: (Fort Bragg, NC): How cool would it be if you and your brother got drafted by the same team or would you rather compete against him?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:31 PM ET ) I'd rather compete against him. I don't want him on the same team. He's not the prettiest guy to look at. If he had some pom poms and was on the sidelines cheering for me, that might be OK. He could huddle up with all the other cheerleaders and do a little dance for me.

Jordan (D-Town, Tx): Who is one of the toughest WR's to cover in practice?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:32 PM ET ) I would say it was Courtney Taylor. He's just very physical and runs great routes. Dwayne Bowe and Johnnie Lee Higgins are great.

Brandon: (Fort Bragg, NC): Weather.com says 60% chance of ran for Mobile Alabama on Saturday.

SportsNation David Irons: (12:33 PM ET ) I don't care if it rains. It it rains I'll just have a little mud bath in the middle of the field. Hopefully the rain can wash away my brother's ugly face.

Brandon: (Factoryville, PA): Do you guys get compared to the Barber brothers at all? Kenny would be Tiki, and you would be Ronde?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:34 PM ET ) I don't want to be compared to nobody. I want to be compared to myself. I think our games is above their game. They are great, exceptional players but Kenny and I have an advantage playing so long together and we can make a big impact. We will come in right off the bat and contribute to an NFL team.

Chris (Tampa, FL): David, what kind of defensive system do you see yourself fitting into best?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:35 PM ET ) A lot of press man, cover 2, etc. I need a breather every now and then. But I can make plays in any system.

Ryan (hartford): Is their a certain team you want to be drafted by?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:36 PM ET ) I would like to go to the Broncos. Champ Bailey. I'm a huge fan of his. That's why I wore 4 .. I watched him when he was in college. I was trying to play both ways this year but we had this guy named Kenny. The coaches were all about Kenny. I would love to play with Champ and be a 1-2 punch.

Raymond (Baltimore): Confident, I like that, thats wassup... What do you think are your strengths/weaknesses? What have you been trying to showcase down there this week?? Good Luck son

SportsNation David Irons: (12:37 PM ET ) My strength is man coverage .. I can run with anyone. My weakness is off man .. I was never taught that. I would have to get used to that. The 49ers coaches have been helping me a lot with that. It's something I can work on in the offseason. Once I get that down I will be a complete player.

jeff nj: any bet with your brother as to who gets drafted first?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:38 PM ET ) Yeah, there is a bet. I told Kenny if I go first he has to go to a spa and get his face redone. It's not the prettiest thing you are going to see on draft day. If he goes first, I have to get my teeth fixed. We have some money riding on it as well, but I won't say how much. We'll see on draft day.

Jake (Scranton, PA): Many scouts have you climbing up the draft board. You look really good in practices. What is one area the coaches at Senior Bowl week have helped you out in the most?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:40 PM ET ) Basically my off man coverage. A lot of people didn't know how fast and explosive I was until they saw me here. This is a business trip to me to show off what I can do. I proved this week what I can do and now I just want to finish out strong. There are 32 teams out there so I just need to open one person's eye.

Tyler East Longmeadow Ma: What do you think your brother's biggest weakness is?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:40 PM ET ) His biggest weakness is being ugly. And his blocking. He has to learn how to take on blocks. Those LBs are huge in the NFL and he has to take them on.

SportsNation David Irons: (12:41 PM ET ) His hands need to be more consistent. He doesn't need somebody else coming in to do his job on third down. He needs a little more weight under his belt. His biggest weakness though is not being as pretty as his brother.

Ryan ((LA)): Hey David can you now admit that you were holding Craig Davis at the end of the LSU game? There is photographic evidence.

SportsNation David Irons: (12:42 PM ET ) That wasn't me in that situation. If you watched the game, they didn't throw my way the whole game. They stayed away from me. I didn't have anything to do with that. I don't need to hold any SEC WR's. Ask Dwayne Bowe who was the most feared DB he went against.

Raymond (Baltimore): Yo David, who is older??

SportsNation David Irons: (12:42 PM ET ) I'm older than Kenny. He's an infant.

Brien (NC): So Kenny is really that ugly? Does that hurt his draft stock?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:43 PM ET ) Brien, you hit it on the head. If the draft was by looks, I would be No. 1. His ugliness is really hurting his draft stock.

SportsNation David Irons: (12:43 PM ET ) He might be drafted into the Ugly Bowl.

Jake (Scranton, PA): Do you ever get tired of the Kenny questions?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:44 PM ET ) I get tired of it. But I don't mind. I just want everybody to recognize my talent. That is why I came here to the Senior Bowl. I do get tired of everybody talking about Kenny because he is an offensive guy. But just watch how I cover guys. Nobody threw to my side until about the 11th game of the season.

Danny (Philly): Whats up Kenny? What have people been telling you as far as where you will go in the draft?

SportsNation David Irons: (12:45 PM ET ) Nobody has been telling me anything. I'm just going to keep working. You never know what will happen on draft day. I don't want to get too hyped up. I'll say somewhere between the 7th and 10th round. How's that? I'm the real deal Holyfield.

SportsNation David Irons: (12:46 PM ET ) If my name was Quentin Moses I would say first round. But I'm not him.

I thought this was pretty good too.

Quote:
Jeremy (Bellevue): Hey Todd, is David Irons showing some skills down there? He is talking like he is!

Todd McShay: (2:06 PM ET ) Maybe he is doing the talking for his brother who is a much better pro prospect. Irons is a decent CB but he won't hear his name called on the first day. He might be quieter on the last Sunday of April.

I'd draft him just for his sense of humor.

I doubt it would happen but if we could pull down a mix of Carriker or Griffin in the 1st, Brandon Mebane in the 2nd, Kenny Irons with 3a and Jonathan Wade with 3b.

Yeah, it was harsh. But selfishly I hope he's right. If Denver goes CB on the first day and David Irons is available at the end of the 3rd round, I would love the Broncos to snatch him up. I think he would fit well into Bate's press coverage scheme.

I agree, but not early. The targets will be two DL, A Wr and a RB on day one if they find ones that fit the bill.

Didn't I just see somewhere in one of those Mobile reports that Irons was playing like the best corner there?

Not to get too lovey dovey over these comments, but Irons is exactly the type of addition that should be made through the draft to supplement the corner position, IMO...mid-rounds.

That was actually quite funny...

Sounds like he's the team-clown type...nice.

Could certainly use a little levity on the team. Haven't had that since Sharpe. Portis tried, but couldn't pull it off.
