Much ado about nothing really since Bush is a lame duck president. Wall Street doesn't really care about what he has to say except about stepping up the move to ethanol. The American people have no confidence in him so they really don't care either.

Republicans are not going to endorse him if they want to be elected in 2008 and Democrats have no reason to support anything he has to say.

And yet, he can still escalate the war in iraq with a solid injection of troops into baghdad. Yeah, you are right, I wouldn't be worried about what he's thinking, he's lame duck so it doesn't matter? Just the opposite. Now is the time you better pay close attention, no telling what direction he may go........dman

I agree Dman...the attitude displayed above is lacking. What our President has to say is key.

You missed the point. Congress has no control over Bush sacrificing more Americans for his dreams of grandeur in Iraq nor do the American people. The State of the Union Address is for announcing policy (usually new) and addressing progress on existing policy.

I'm thinking he'll mention it. But, we'll see. I'm not up on everything coming out of DC that's for sure...dman

What he'll mention is Iraq, ethanol and healthcare and not much more I'd wager (not anything in any real depth anyway). He most definitely is a lame duck though and I don't see that changing as long as he keeps sacrificing Americans in Iraq.

I will agree, the time has come to fish or cut bait. IF we can't establish some sort of "beachhead" in baghdad in short order, another avenue of deployment must be considered. I too am tired of soldiers dying and not knowing whether or not we can pull this one out late in the 4th qtr. We certianly will see in three or four months I'm guessing..dman

For Chrissake, stop with the standing ovations after every goddamn sentence! I know it's a miracle when he completes one error free, but it will be next week before he concludes at this rate.

None of them are listening...they hear the clapping start and react like Pavlovs dog. When Bush said "support the troops" I thought a couple of them would fly through the roof they got to their feet so fast

yeah, very complex. A lot of ideas that other people proposed years ago and almost no details on how to reasonably implement any of "his" ideas

It's not his job to tell them how...that's what they as law makers need to figure out. Doesn't mean they have to agree with him either.

It was a good response too. Jim Webb is basically a republican, but differs with republicans on the war.

You do realize, of course, that applauding the prez points is a tradition. Its done by members of both parties for presidents of both parties.
