Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: D Levi Brown OL Penn State 6053 323 34 1/2 9 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: Thick and barred chested. Monday Practice Notes: Great feet and pretty agile, moves like a player closer to 300 pounds. Can get to be off-balanced against inside moves and slants. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Ryan Harris OL Notre Dame 6046 299 33 3/4 9 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: Slim shoulders and soft body. Monday Practice Notes: Excellent leverage player, plays low in run blocking which can get him overextended. Very strong hands, nimble feet, could be a tackle or guard in NFL. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Marshal Yanda OL Iowa 6037 304 32 1/4 9 3/4 Weigh-In Notes: Soft. Monday Practice Notes: Plays well within his body and balanced off the ball. Excellent against speed and technique, but power rushers can overpower when he plays too tall. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Josh Beekman OL Boston College 6016 315 31 1/2 9 5/8 Weigh-In Notes: Spare tire around the middle. Monday Practice Notes: Very active on playside especially with double-teams. Good hand technique, but obviously learning the playbook still. Loves to get to the second level. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Doug Datish OL Ohio State 6037 302 32 1/2 9 1/8 Weigh-In Notes: Flab around the middle and underdeveloped chest. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: James Marten OL Boston College 6073 303 34 9 5/8 Weigh-In Notes: Soft body. Tall. Monday Practice Notes: Played guard and looked way too big to play along the interior, but his footwork was not great for tackle. Beaten several times by bullrushers. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Dan Mozes OL West Virginia 6023 300 31 1/2 10 Weigh-In Notes: Solid but room for improvement. Monday Practice Notes: Battles off the ball with big, strong hands. Sets up very well after the snap, and can be a primary blocker with his speed. Did have trouble with DTs swimming over him. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Manny Ramirez OL Texas Tech 6027 335 32 10 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: Big shoulder and arms but soft body. Monday Practice Notes: Let a defensive players get inside his body and control him along the line, but settled down and did well blocking on pulls and traps. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Samson Satele OL Hawaii 6022 294 31 3/4 10 Weigh-In Notes: Needs development everywhere. Monday Practice Notes: Does not have the look of a great lineman, but he will block with the best of these guys. Tags well on seals, has great hand placement, and good footwork. Very well coached. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Nick Leeson LS Virginia Tech 6014 258 31 1/4 9 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: Beerguy... Monday Practice Notes: Gets upfield very well for a player of his size with great reaction to the ball. Does not move very well laterally against the run. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Adam Carriker DL Nebraska 6057 292 33 9 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: Long thick arms. Monday Practice Notes: Long arms, but more of a power player at this point in time. Good reaction in the backfield, and rides the hips of defenders well. Needs to find a home between DE and DT. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Jay Moore DL Nebraska 6045 276 32 9 1/4 Weigh-In Notes: Thick and solid. Monday Practice Notes: Guessed a little too much throughout the day on snapcounts. When he was on, he was in the backfield. When he was not, easily stopped at the line. His reaction time is subpar. Tuesday Practice Notes Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Anthony Spencer DL Purdue 6024 266 32 3/4 10 Weigh-In Notes: Soft body. Monday Practice Notes: Shows an inconsistent effort. Looks more comfortable playing downhill than in space. More powerful than quick, but wants to use his quickness on the backside of the line. Once he learns this, he could be a good one this week. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: LaMarr Woodley DL Michigan 6013 269 34 1/4 10 Weigh-In Notes: Thick arms but soft body. Monday Practice Notes: Loves to use his upperbody strength almost exclusively, and with his sheer muscle he can get away with it. As a result, he can play high and get pushed back some, but his reaction and hand quickness is excellent. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Brandon Mebane DL California 6010 304 32 1/2 10 Weigh-In Notes: Tank butt and soft torso. Monday Practice Notes: Quick hands, plays low off the ball, powerful lower body, and could be a two-gap player in the right places. Very good work ethic. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Amobi Okoye DL Louisville 6020 287 34 10 1/4 Weigh-In Notes: Built like a brickhouse Monday Practice Notes: Has a great swim move playing over the center, but leaves his body open for blocking as he uses his hands. Want to see him add a little weight to play nose. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: David Patterson DL Ohio State 6017 274 32 10 1/8 Weigh-In Notes: Sloppy and soft. Monday Practice Notes: Best motor on the team, he never stops. Plays very wide and can take on double teams well keeping his ground. Can get to the backfield quickly as he loves to shoot the gaps. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Quinn Pitcock DL Ohio State 6023 301 32 9 3/4 Weigh-In Notes: Monday Practice Notes: Plays smaller than 300 pounds, wants to do too much in too little space. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: David Harris LB Michigan 6022 239 32 1/2 9 3/8 Weigh-In Notes: Long and developed Monday Practice Notes: A powerful player who diagnoses plays quickly and shows power in taking on blockers. He fails to distinguish himself in coverage. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: H.B. Blades LB Pittsburgh 5106 237 31 5/8 10 1/8 Weigh-In Notes: Thick legs and broad shoulders. Monday Practice Notes: He is powerful at the point of attack and shows soft hands in coverage. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Stewart Bradley LB Nebraska 6035 256 32 3/4 9 7/8 Weigh-In Notes: Muscular and well built. Monday Practice Notes: Has stiff hips and looks uncomfortable playing in space. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Prescott Burgess LB Michigan 6031 246 33 1/4 10 Weigh-In Notes: Solid all-around. Monday Practice Notes: He diagnoses plays quickly, maintains good position and shows soft hands when given the opportunity. He is not physical enough at the point of attack. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Kevin McLee LB West Virginia 5116 239 31 1/4 8 3/4 Weigh-In Notes: Soft up top. Monday Practice Notes: Is aggressive and shows good speed as an edge rusher. He is a fluid player who is comfortable turning and running with receivers downfield, but looks unnatural catching the football. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Paul Posluzney LB Penn State 6012 237 32 1/4 9 5/8 Weigh-In Notes: Thick and cut. Looks good. Monday Practice Notes: He is physical and aggressive with excellent footwork. He never quits on a play but struggles to sift through the garbage inside. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Tanard Jackson DB Syracuse 6000 192 31 8 5/8 Weigh-In Notes: Very good. Monday Practice Notes: Appears fluid in coverage and can change direction seamlessly. He has soft hands but needs to be more aggressive in attacking the ball. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Marcus McCauley DB Fresno State 6005 200 31 1/2 10 1/8 Weigh-In Notes: Cut and solid. Monday Practice Notes: Is physical at the point of attack and has great leaping ability. He lacks closing speed, can be fooled with double-moves and doesn’t always attack the ball at its highest point. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Josh Wilson DB Maryland 5091 188 30 9 1/8 Weigh-In Notes: Compact build. Monday Practice Notes: Has excellent speed and shows good footwork. He struggles against larger receivers and can play out of control at times; he has a hard time defending underneath routes. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Josh Gattis DB Wake Forest 6010 206 32 1/2 9 3/4 Weigh-In Notes: Well built and solid. Monday Practice Notes: He is a smooth player with the good speed and awareness. Has questionable hands and needs to be more aggressive attacking the ball. Senior Bowl South Team Practice Reports
Auburn DB David Irons (Getty) By TFY Draft Preview Posted Jan 22, 2007 *UPDATED* 1/22/07 - Daily practice reports from the South Squad practices. Player Pos School Height Weight Arm Hand Kevin Kolb QB Houston 6027 220 31 3/8 9 7/8 Weigh-In Notes: No upper body. Monday Practice Notes: Very erratic. Stares down primary targets. Trouble with the out routes. Seems to direct his throws more than just letting them go. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Jordan Palmer QB UTEP 6053 229 33 9 7/8 Weigh-In Notes: Thick build for a passer. Monday Practice Notes: Solid arm but sprays his throws. Very indecisive. Threw his obligatory pick which was a trend in his collegiate career. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Chris Leak QB Florida 5117 203 31 1/4 9 5/8 Weigh-In Notes: Slender but thick legs. Monday Practice Notes: Throws a nice ball. Very crisp on outs with good zip. Can get the ball downfield, but sprays the ball all over the place. Downfield passes are not accurate. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Kenny Irons RB Auburn 5101 188 31 3/4 10 1/4 Weigh-In Notes: In shape but needs weightroom work. Monday Practice Notes: Showed a gear not seen this season. Exploded through the hole better than any back on the south roster. There is a competency for catching the ball, though does not seem entirely comfortable running routes. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Lorenzo Booker RB Florida State 5103 188 30 3/4 9 Weigh-In Notes: Slender and skinny. Monday Practice Notes: Lot of quickness and cutting ability. Because of size he naturally gets lost behind his blockers. Also showed a competency for catching the ball. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Kenneth Darby RB Alabama 5101 211 29 1/2 9 Weigh-In Notes: Limited definition. Monday Practice Notes: Was able to turn the corner but was indecisive at times with his cuts. RB coach corrected him on multiple occasions in regards to being off balance and cutting off the wrong foot. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Le'Ron McClain RB Alabama 6000 265 32 9 Weigh-In Notes: Thick with definition. Monday Practice Notes: Caught the ball well but he’s big, stiff, and not fast. Will bury his nose in a linebacker’s grill on isolation blocks. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Martrez Milner TE Georgia 6036 256 34 9 Weigh-In Notes: Needs work in the weightroom. Monday Practice Notes: Very athletic and made several athletic catches. Made a difficult catch over the middle while being slammed by the safety. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Joe Newton TE Oregon State 6065 257 34 1/2 10 5/8 Weigh-In Notes: Long and lean. Monday Practice Notes: Solid hands, caught everything. Not quick of the line, lacks speed, and a poor route runner. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Courtney Taylor WR Auburn 6015 200 31 3/4 9 5/8 Weigh-In Notes: Well built but thin legs. Monday Practice Notes: Very good. Caught most balls his way. Made quite a few tough catches. Stayed with the action and worked hard. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Dwayne Bowe WR LSU 6022 222 33 1/4 9 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: Built like a linebacker. Monday Practice Notes: Good practice. Marginal route runner, but caught everything thrown to him. Worked his routes and physically beat down opponents for balls. Was the interest of several teams at hand. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Chansi Stuckey WR Clemson 5101 193 31 9 3/4 Weigh-In Notes: Marginal development. Monday Practice Notes: Showed good route running and quickness. Average speed and hands. Too often double clutched on a balls thrown his way. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Johnnie Lee Higgins WR UTEP 5112 183 31 3/8 9 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: Thick legs but small upper body. Looked like a track guy. Monday Practice Notes: Showed good quickness and route running skills. Corrected by the coaches throughout the day for poor fundamentals. Little too flashy for his own good. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Dallas Baker WR Florida 6030 203 35 3/4 9 7/8 Weigh-In Notes: Flab around the gut. Monday Practice Notes: Caught the ball well. Nice adjustments. Lacks speed and explosion. Rounds off routes. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Chris Davis WR Florida State 5093 244 31 1/8 10 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: Stout and built like a stump. Monday Practice Notes: Very quick, ran exceptional routes. Got separation and displayed good speed. Very inconsistent hands. Early in the practice dropped a lot of balls, but later made some nice acrobatic receptions. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Joe Staley OL Central Michigan 6055 296 34 1/4 10 1/8 Weigh-In Notes: Spare tire with limited upper body definition. Monday Practice Notes: Obviously very athletic. A scout mentioned he played not only tight end in high school, but some wide receiver as well. Smooth in his pass protection. Nice punch, but can windup at times. Does lack hip explosion. Not powerful at the point of attack. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: D Justin Blalock OL Texas 6033 331 33 1/2 10 1/4 Weigh-In Notes: Big rear end but sloppy up top. Monday Practice Notes: Got reps as both guard and right tackle. Loved to bury his head at all times. In pass blocking drills was beaten off the edge because did not get depth on his initial kick step. Also struggled today with getting arm extension. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Tony Ugoh OL Arkansas 6054 301 36 9 3/4 Weigh-In Notes: Athletic build with big lower body. Monday Practice Notes: Athleticism on the island is apparent but needs some refining in his technique. His punch can be very good but he is inconsistent with it. Needs to keep his shoulders square before committing in his pass set. Seemed comfortable making blocks in space. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Arron Sears OL Tennessee 6031 317 34 10 1/8 Weigh-In Notes: Big lower body and solid up top. Monday Practice Notes: Flashed more overall talent than any other lineman on his squad, but was wildly inconsistent. Was shifted to guard for the day. Very quick to the second level, but once in contact with a defender he does not bring his feet. Often lunges. Fires off the ball very hard and very strong at the point of attack but showed a tendency to lead his head too often as well. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Ben Gubbs OL Auburn 6030 315 33 10 Weigh-In Notes: Broad shoulders and small chest. Monday Practice Notes: Footwork was an issue throughout the day. Often got too wide in his stance, and followed through by staying wide when engaged in blocks. Did show ability moving in space today. Much like his Auburn teammate, he struggled with overall technique. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Tim Duckworth OL Auburn 6032 304 32 1/2 9 1/4 Weigh-In Notes: Wide and solid. Monday Practice Notes: Was corrected all practice on bad technique by the position coach. Started with a bad stance, never gets the hips under himself and too much of a waist bender. Not very agile getting to the second level and he just loves to wrestle with the defenders once engaged in blocks. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Leroy Harris OL NC State 6024 298 33 10 3/8 Weigh-In Notes: Thick but no definition. Monday Practice Notes: Worked with the quarterbacks early taking snaps, but spent the rest of the day at left guard. Struggled immensely in pass protection. Did not show the patience to engage a defender on his initial punch. Also struggled working in in space. Showed the athleticism to get to the second level, but seemed lost at times picking up defenders. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Ryan Kalil OL USC 6027 291 32 9 3/4 Weigh-In Notes: Athletic build. Monday Practice Notes: Technically sound. Quick off the ball. Hands are very good and well placed. Excels in space. Arguably had the best day of practice for a mediocre group of South offensive linemen. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Mansfield Wrotto OL Georgia Tech 6030 316 33 10 1/8 Weigh-In Notes: Soft up top. Monday Practice Notes: As one scout described him, “He’s a project…but a good project.” Plays very compact and does not get great extension with either his arms or his pass sets. In his pass sets today he tended to overset and gives an open lane to compensate. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Dustin Fry OL Clemson 6023 326 33 1/8 9 3/4 Weigh-In Notes: Mr. Jiggles. Monday Practice Notes: Another line prospect who got off on the wrong foot with his position coach. Immediately was corrected for standing straight up while working the boards. Lacks much of a punch and is only effective in very limited areas. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Quentin Moses DL Georgia 6047 249 33 1/2 9 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: Flat chested and soft. Monday Practice Notes: Indecisive most of the day in his pass rush. At times Moses slowed down so much during his possible countermove, you could almost read what he was thinking. Can be engulfed at the point of attack in the run game and did not make much of a presence their either. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Chase Pittman DL LSU 6044 272 32 3/4 10 7/8 Weigh-In Notes: Small spare tire and no chest. Monday Practice Notes: Looked like he wasn’t working hard in drills. Does not have the strength at the point of attack to handle double teams by a tackle and tight end. Overall was basically invisible for most of the day. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Tim Crowder DL Texas 6037 271 33 9 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: Big triceps/traps. Monday Practice Notes: The only defensive linemen today to show a competency for pass rush moves. He showed the ability to set up and use a variety of moves, as well as counter the lineman’s initial punch. Was corrected though on his overall lack of hand usage. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Ray McDonald DL Florida 6033 282 33 1/4 10 Weigh-In Notes: No definition. Monday Practice Notes: The bionic man. McDonald walks on the practice field with a large brace on both knees, as well as his right elbow. Early in the practice his head was not into it and jumped offside on multiple occasions. Had trouble keeping his feet on numerous occasions. Played at left defensive end all day, and struggled in his pass rush because of a lack of overall moves. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Antonio Johnson DL Mississippi State 6027 305 33 3/4 9 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: No definition and knock knee. Monday Practice Notes: Solid day overall. Used his hands very well, and was able to beat interior blockers in pass rush drills. Very quick off the ball today. Tuesday Practice Notes Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: DeMarcus Tyler DL NC State 6021 323 33 9 3/4 Weigh-In Notes: Sloppy with lots of rolls. Needs to wear the "bro". Monday Practice Notes: All power and no finesse. Showed no moves to get off of blocks in either the running game or in his pass rush. Was corrected multiple times on his gap and making the right read. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Ryan McBean DL Oklahoma State 6045 277 32 1/2 10 1/4 Weigh-In Notes: Cut and defined. Monday Practice Notes: Makes up for his lack of size with very good quickness off the ball. Did have trouble making his proper reads and was corrected on it. Does some of the little things right. For example, just getting his hands up to disrupt a quarterback. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Kareem Brown DL Miami (Fla.) 6040 303 33 1/4 10 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: Spare tire and no definition. Monday Practice Notes: Often came off the ball low and hard, but showed no ability to counter, get off blocks and redirect. Was able to get a semblance of a pass rush with his own bulrush. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: Buster Davis LB Florida State 5095 192 30 1/4 8 1/4 Weigh-In Notes: Very slender. Monday Practice Notes: Very explosive and quick. Covers a lot of area. On one particular play Davis had his helmet knocked clean off, literally popping into the air after contact with Alabama FB Le’Ron McClain. I mentioned really liking Kolby Smith in a couple of other threads, and I'm making him my official "adopt a prospect".
Kolby Smith RB Louisville 5112 214 32 9 1/2 Weigh-In Notes: Solid and and bigger than expected. Monday Practice Notes: He moved around well and was the best back on the field today. He cut and ran to daylight on several runs. Tuesday Practice Notes: Wednesday Practice Notes: Thursday Practice Notes: Analysis: |

Tim Crowder DL Texas 6037 271 33 9 1/2
Weigh-In Notes: Big triceps/traps. Monday Practice Notes: The only defensive linemen today to show a competency for pass rush moves. He showed the ability to set up and use a variety of moves, as well as counter the lineman’s initial punch. Was corrected though on his overall lack of hand usage. Will be a much better LDE than Carriker |

I don't even know if you can classify Carriker as just a DE. The guy was playing DT too. I thought he had a good day of work from my perspective. That being said, I think Crowder is flying under the radar big time. The guy has had big days against some of the best competition and I think his best football is ahead of him.
Mebane looked very good to me as well. Jason Hill is another guy that i've had my eye on. He had a down senior year and I wouldn't be surprised to see him slide through the cracks. Everybody thinks i'm on a anti-Okoye sentiment but I just don't think he is that good. |

Ryan McBean - DT - OSU: I got my hands on some Baylor film of him. Interesting prospect at DT. He is definitely very light. He reminds me of a thinner version of Trevor Pryce. Doesn't have the same strength yet and is sort of a project. Isn't all that great with his hands and is more of a one trick pony when it comes to pass rushing. He'll either rip (just like Trevor) trying to find a seam and the leverage and run it or he'll burst outside the guard (he is usually playing the 3 tech on the outside number of either guard, mostly against the strength) and then try to hop back in with a swim manuever. His technique on the rip has gotten him some pressures but his swim looks terrible. Pops right up and exposes his chest. He is on the lighter side so he gets pin-balled if another offensive lineman comes to help out on him. He looks like a 3rd or 4th round player though from what I saw and definitely is not in the same class as MeBane or even Okoye in terms of play to play impact. Good size and speed though at about 6'5" 280.

I mentioned Kolby Smith awhile back as well. He has good size for RB and pretty good speed too. There are injury concerns with him, but could be a big sleeper type. I'm betting the Broncos will be looking closely at him.
I'm not sure about Crowder. He didn't put up much in terms of numbers, at least going into his senior year, so I'm wondering if he'd going to be more of a run stuffing type of DE and not much of a pass rusher. Mebane is a guy I think with a chance to be a good pro. I like his quickness and has pretty good size to boot. If I was a 3-4 team, I would take Carriker to play DE. McBean is intriguing, but will have to go to the right team. Might have to play DE in the NFL. |

Tony Hunt RB Penn State 6016 239 31 1/4 9 3/4
Weigh-In Notes: Solid and and bigger than expected. Monday Practice Notes: He used his size effectively in short-yardage work and showed to have good hands in drills where he was asked to catch the football. Shanahan has said he will be looking for a power back. This has got to be his guy. |

Thanks for posting this, SoCal. I always look forward to the comments section:
Beerguy... Was referred to as a wasted roster spot. DeMarcus Tyler DL NC State 6021 323 33 9 3/4 Weigh-In Notes: Sloppy with lots of rolls. Needs to wear the "bro". ![]() Traveler, Brian Leonard would make an excellent compliment to Mike Bell. All the scouts are trying to turn him into another Alstott, but that isn't his game. He's a power HBack. |

Leonard is my 2nd choice of power back. I like his game too. I'm just waiting to see what names are linked with the Broncos. Those that are, we can pretty much write off as it's usually a smokescreen. Shanahan almost never lets people know who they really are targeting. |

Looks like Crowder and Griffin represented well. As well as Patrick Willis. I hope he falls to us!

What's the deal with Ohio $tate. They have by far the largest athletic budget in the country and they don't let the players take their helmets? All of the O$U players are wearing base generic helmets.

If Troy Smith slides to the 85th pick, our final 3rd rounder, we should take him and be happy with our QB spot.
I really don't want us going after Bush or Lynch at this point. I think we can get great late first day value, maybe even early second day, out of Leonard, Hunt, or Kolby Smith. Smith seems like an archtypal Broncos back to me but I love Leonard's all around game and Hunt's size/speed ratio is real impressive. I think any one of them would be an awesome addition for us, I'd love to grab two if we can move Tatum. The more I hear about Mebane the more I like him. I'm just worried his stock is getting a bit too high now. He doesn't have great measurables though so that could help. Levi Brown really impresses me, he's the type of big OL we should look for, barrel chested ripped guys with tree trunk legs. He moves fast unlike Foster who carries too much of his weight above the belt. |

I'm very surprised that Crowder measured in so well, which is great, it makes him one hell of a nice prospect. Hopefully his combine weight compares and he still shows good speed stats.
This DL draft is deep in just what we need, 270-280 pound DEs and 300 pound DTs. Guys who can be developed into every down DLs. I think we could get a steal with our 2nd rounder, maybe even the 'skins 3rd at either position. |

What do you think of Daymeion Hughes SoCal? He reminds me a bit of DWill. Don't get mad, but we have to move on...no disrespect. He seems to be very instinctive. Supposedly overrated but he makes plays. Supposedly he doesn't have elite speed but is a football player.
Has hands, gets picks, agressive tackler, fluid hips. Smallish at 190. http://calbears.cstv.com/sports/m-fo...aymeion00.html Last edited by watermock; 01-23-2007 at 09:11 PM.. |
