about broncos interested in Samuel of the Patriots. I would give them our first round pick for him if they had to. |

Asante is an unrestricted free agent. Unless the Patriots resign him or place a franchise tag on him he is free to negotiate a deal with anyone, including the Broncos without any team giving up any draft picks whatsoever. The Broncos have a fair amount of free agency $$$ available. Asante and a solid DE/DT (Justin Smith/Terdell Sands) type free agent would go a long ways in stabilizing this team. Foxworth is a great back-up but I don't feel confident in any of our guys starting opposite the Champ.

I like Dominique Foxworth a LOT.
And Curome Cox and Karl Paymah are both pretty good at nickel and dime. What we need is: a veteran safety, a widebody DT, an all-purpose DE, a backup QB, and a Will-LB who can actually make a play every other game or so ... Soooo, I don't see us paying Asante Samuel, or drafting Marshawn Lynch, or paying Eric Steinbach, or Daniel Graham, or a KR or a WR ... |

Draft the stud Safety of the future and let him learn behind Lynch and Ferguson this next year.

I'm sure the Broncos would love to have Samuel, but I just don't see them having two big money CB's on the roster unless there is a lot of restructuring going on with other contracts.

I'd feel better about him if his tattoo read, "Get Laid" rather than "Get Paid."

I think you'll see the Broncos land at least two decent sized names on the Defensive side of the ball, add some O-Line help and have an awesome draft. Next year will be fun again.

Great idea.
Lets sink a TON of money into two great CBs (Champ and Asante). Then lets hang em out to dry to see if they really can cover a receiver while a pedestrian Dline gets no pressure week in and week out. Look at SD. Their front 7 get a lot of pressure, that protects what is a mediocre secondary. Same with Seattle. |

it all depends what we give up for Asante. If he can be had for decent money spread over a legitimate number of years I'm all for it. just because we pick-up another great corner doesn't mean we can't bolster the D-Line at all. By the way Seatle and SD will be watching the SB with us this year and didn't even play in their respective divisional Championship game this year so building a blueprint after their teams is no secret to success.

Asante would be nice, It's not like your restricted to one free agent move per offseason.
Realistly the bronco's have the cap room, after plummer is out, to get a few names to help the defense. |

I still say try to get Casey Hampton from the Steelers. Tomlin favors smaller DT's so he may put him on the trade block... A big dude to plug the middle would do wonders

Is this the guy's first day of blogging? Not only does he not name his sources, he doesn't even name himself. This is crap anyone that reads about football could put together. |

No way they trade him. Casey's the anchor for their 3-4, and I'm sure Tomlin wouldn't go over LeBeau's head.

I know everyone is going to say, "CBs do you no good without pressure up front", but, you know, Champ has faired pretty well without consistent pressure. Samuel is a high quality player. It might not be that bad of a move (unless NE franchises him, thus requiring a 1st round pick compensation, then hell no).

What a crock.
OK, I say that the Broncos are going to acquire Julius Peppers for an 8th round pick. It's written on the internet, it must be true. |

I'd love this but it would be too expensive and I'd think that the Patriots would franchise Samuel before they let him walk.

I don't know how I feel about this. ON one hand it would be awesome to have to very good CB's but I thought DWill was very good as well and it didn't save our defense from crumbling down the stretch.
We basically got our ass-whipped against the 49ers. Blown off the ball, punched in the face, ass kicked all over our own field. We have more pressing needs than CB right now. I trust Fox. If we sign somebody else, it shows that we have none. |

We would be able to jam recievers at the line however. Would I rather have a stud dlinemen or OL? Sure, but you can never have enough big time players, and he is.
