I wish they would move the clock ahead by two hours and leave it there. I like to come home or do things after work without the dark. I don't care about the mornings. I am in a fog and can't see anything until after my first pot of coffee anyway.

Didn't Bush sign into law a permanent move to DST beginning in 2008?

I believe he just added two months to it. One at the beginning and one at the end. I too like to do stuff after work and therefore would like it to be forward all year round.

I love explaining DST to blond girls:

Blond: "Why do we have Daylight Saving Time?"

Me: "It's so farmers' crops have an extra hour of sunlight every day."

Blond: "Oh. That makes a lot of sense, actually."

Me: *laughs ass off*

I love blond girls.

No, but that would be a good idea. I hate going home from work when it's getting dark...

I dont care.

It doesnt bother me one way or the other. I dont see why people complain about it at all, nor do I see a reason to have it. How hard is it to set your clock one hour forward or backward?

I say make it a 2 hour switch and really screw up the cows.

Pros and Cons of the Change in Daylight Saving Time in 2007
  • Pros:
  • Energy use will be curtailed.
  • Halloween trick or treaters will get more daylight.
  • Longer "synthetic sunshine".
  • Cons:
  • Daylight Saving Time may reek havoc on computers and electronics. Microsoft plans an upgrade for their operating systems but items such as DVD players and VCRs are programmed for the old dates and are not able to be upgraded.
  • Other countries (Canada specifically) feel compelled to change also because their economy is so integrated with the U.S.
  • Airlines are opposed to the changes because of scheduling International flights.
  • Farmers are opposed because of the impact on livestock.

A smart farmer adapts and starts feeding a few minutes earlier the week before to graduate them into it. If you make the jump in one day, they will be slow to come up and you can't spot the sick livestock....I'd just as soon they leave the clock alone myself.

I hate having to check all the server clocks. NTP has made life better but there is always one server that does not update.

Ban it, Kids don't start school that early that it would hurt them.

I'm not a farmer, so please excuse my arrogance, but couldn't a farmer adjust his schedule and just feed the livestock an hour earlier/later so it's always the same time to the animals?

An independant farmer could...but if he has hired hands, he wants to get as much work done in the daylight hours also, so if he's paying by the hour it costs him more to operate, thus less profit on the sale of the livestock.

Just seems like such a trivial thing to whine about.

Of course, most of those b****ing on this thread seem to whine about everything anyway.
