DENVER BRONCOS QUENTIN MOSES DE | Georgia | Scouting Report Coming off a great junior season Quentin Moses was widely regarded to be one of the premier senior prospects prior to the 2006 season and some even felt he might be the best player regardless of position. My how things can change in less than six months. After a terrible senior year in which he was outperformed by his teammate Charles Johnson and may have had a case of senioritis it appears that Moses' draft stock is plummeting and unless he can really impress scouts between now and April there's a chance he could fall a lot further than this. There is no denying his natural athleticism (he's a former basketball player for the Dawgs) and ability though and if he can find a way to revert to the form he showed in 2005 some team could wind up with a steal on their hands. The Broncos have a bunch of solid guys at defensive end but still lack an impact player outside so at this point in Round 1 a talent like Moses just may be worth a roll of the dice. As a top 10 pick I would hate him, a steal at #21 though b/c of his upside/potential. He has the frame/size, speed, and pass rush moves to become a 12-15 sack guy... does he have the heart? 22. Can't argue with that pick, but I think I would prefer Reggie Nelson if he were available. I hope the Broncos can address some of their D-line needs in free agency so that they have more flexibility in the first round. I would love to add a playmaking safety like Nelson.

As would I, but if Moses is available at 21 the gamble is well worth it. Dude has a lot of athleticsm and can get after the QB. He had a down Sr. campaign, which is why he could drop. At the start of the season he was a potential top 5 pick. Very talented, just has questions that arrise from a lackluster final college season. Could be that he was playing scared. Could be that teams really game planned for him. Who knows?
What I do know is this. If we draft him at 21 there is still a very good chance that we get a guy like Brandon Meriweather in the 2nd round. Hell, even Ross in the 2nd round would be a good pick. Also, don't rule out a trade up in the 2nd round. We haven't seen that one here for a while, but it makes a lot of sense. We could use our 3rd round pick and move up into the 40's and get a guy like Michael Bush (who is now expected to be the 4th or 5th RB taken). Give me a draft with Moses and Bush and anything else is gravy! Imagine this. A little bit of pipe dreaming perhaps, but certainly possible. Q. Moses M. Bush (trade up, could even last to our current slot in the 2nd) B. Meriweather (with the Skins 3rd rounder) DE, RB, and Safety all addressed. A dream draft scenario but could likely play out that way too. |

I think it would be nice for Denver to take a shot on a DL for once. I do like Nelson alot but, DL needs to be addressed.

Good point about Meriweather in the 2nd. Do you think he would fall to us in the 2nd round? He was also projected to be a 1st round pick a couple months back before the brawl.

Moses would be a good pick, providing he shows that good speed in workouts. They can still get a quality DT in the 2nd or even 3rd round.
The draft is where they need to address the DL. They have tried free agency and haven't gotten any top type DL, so I don't see how that would change next year. They could get a couple free agent types that don't command big money, but the Justin Smith stuff is just a dream people have. |

It worked out pretty well signing Alfred Williams and Neil Smith. Just because they whiffed on same free agents in recent years, it doesn't mean it doesn't work. The Broncos can't address ALL their needs in the draft. There are going to be some free agents that have to contribute next year whether it is a RB, DE, or DT.

Colt Brennan to J-Ville? Like they don't already have two starting quality QBs.
Also if Johnson outplayed Moses this year, is younger, and is bigger why doesn't he go in the first round at all? And Bowe over Rice or even Samardjza for that matter? Not bad as a whole, but its basically a bunch of consencus picks teamed with a few really questionable ones. |

That was 10 years ago and they were older at the time and they came to win a Super Bowl. What top free agent DL is going to come cheaply? The Broncos have to start taking drafts more seriously and get legit future starters, especially in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds where they have whiffed way too often there lately. |

BTW...Marshall and Dumervil were both 4th rounders last year. Darrent and Foxworth were 2nd and 3rd round picks the year before. |

I would love the Moses pick. He could part the red sea (Chiefs Oline) for us regularly.
His potential is that of Jason Taylor. I'll roll those dice. Shanny and his team scout Georgia well, so our guys will have a firm grasp on Moses. |

Moses? Third round talent for a first round pick. I would want almost any of the guys still left on the board over that pick, especially Nelson or Bowe, both of whom I believe will be stars in the NFL. Just the kind of stupid gamble I would expect the Broncos to take. If you're going to gamble on somebody, gamble on Justin Harrell, DT, Tenn.

Tough to pass up Nelson. I haven't seen either of them play very much but from what I have seen, Nelson looks like difference maker with his big play ability and tenacity.

Could last? I think at this point he almost certainly lasts to Denver's 2nd. Too many people are assuming he's going to be good to go at some point in the next few months to re-elevate his draft status after the broken leg. Not calling Kiper all-knowing, but the guy did just move Bush down to at least his 5th best RB in the draft after Jackson and Pittman declared yesterday.

If they don't land Lynch somehow, I would love the Broncos to grab Bush with their 2nd round pick. Nelson (or d-line) in the first, Bush in the 2nd, and spend the 2 3rd round picks on d-line.

That sounds about right for a Shanny odd numbered year draft.

thats what i think too...if we cant get one of the top two RB's grab someone like Carriker or Okoye for DL or Nelson at S...personally i would rather go with KL in round one because i REALLY REALLY like Wendling in the second round.

If the Chefs pick him we're in trouble for a lot of years to come. Tamba Hali and Q. Moses as bookends wouldn't bode well for the AFC West.
Also keep in mind that Moses was constantly game planned for his Sr. Year. His counterparts along the DLine all benefited from his presence alone. Similar to a guy like Manny Lawson last year who benefitted greatly from Mario Williams chasing guys right into his arms. Passing on Q. Moses at 21 would be a mistake for us. The guy is another Mathias Kiwanuka type. Long, athletic, plays faster than his 4.7 speed would indicate, and already has a bunch of pass rushing moves. Think of Elvis Dumervil with size. |
