Default Your Draft Day Dream

Ok, I know we have already started talking about next year's draft, and a lot of that will have to do with the next Defensive Coordinator as well. But, takke your best shot at the deals you would like done on day one of next year's draft. I remember last year when I kept talking with a buddy who is a Packer's fan about how I hoped we would swing a deal for Javon. I was totally surprised by Cutler.

So, here are the rules. Pick two free agent signings / trades. Then use picks
#21 in the first round
#53 in the second
#70 in the third (from Washington)
#85 in the third

You can package draft picks to move up.

My number one FA would be Michael Turner from San Diego. I think the guy is outstanding and would make a great #1 back. I am still considering the FA safeties and drafting D-Line in the first and second. I will have my list soon. Have a shot...

I agree with the FA pick of Michael Turner, RB from SD. Of course, we'd have to figure a way to funnel him through the Redskins first, as I really doubt that SD would let the Broncos get their hands on him directly.

Then, I would take Daniel Graham, TE from the Pats. (Bring the Buff home!)

21 - Adam Carriker, DE/DT, NE
53 - Reggie Nelson, S, Fla
70 - Brian Leonard, FB, Rutgers
85 - Mike Otto, OT, Purdue

Turner is a RFA, I'm sure SD wouldn't mind us overpaying for him. He's probably getting a 1st round tender.

Reggie Nelson is a top twenty selection if he comes out, no way is he in the second round.

My dream would be to do what we did in terms of the d-line as we did with cornerbacks a couple years ago. We did get lucky with Darrent Williams and Foxy, maybe we could get lucky with a couple d-linemen.

Safeties always drop. Anyway, I thought this was a "dream" first day?

Turner sure looks good in SD but, for some reason, I keep thinking he could turn out to be a LaMont Jordan. Above-average backup, mediocre full-time back. I could definitely be wrong on this (and probably am) but it scares me to pay a huge price for someone who hasn't shown he can carry the load by himself.

Draft dream?

1. Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville
2. Mike Bush, RB, Louisville
3a. Ikaika Alama-Francis, DE, Hawaii
3b. Tom Zbikowski, S, Notre Dame

If we miss out on Alama-Francis or Zbikowski I'd substitute Ryan Harris, OT, Notre Dame who I think is a perfect fit for our blocking system. If we lose out on Bush I'd look to Tony Hunt in the 3rd, replacing our #2 pick with one of the sliding DEs. No Okoye? Then hope for Lynch or Dorsey/Tyler to fill our DT need.

I think we should land a DT in the first two rounds, too much talent there to ignore it. We also should get a DE in the first day. A RB would be very good as we have some one dimensional RBs currently that are holding the offense back.

I'd like to see the second day dedicated to bringing in some projects, especially guys who could improve our special teams. I like Matt Trannon as a sleeper WR/TE project, akin to Marshall this year. John Wendling would be a good mid-round safety grab who should help on special teams, and Zak DeOssie out of Brown has an interesting combination of size and speed if his projected 40 times from ESPN hold up (268 lbs., 4.58 40 time), make a good DL and LB dual project who would have a future if we change to a 3-4 or at least really help our coverage team.

For FAs I hope we sign Justin Smith, Graham would be cool if he'd sign for a reasonable deal, which I think he would, TEs rarely break the bank in FA if they aren't upper echelon stars.

John Wendling from Wyoming, my good friends 1st cousin, is training down in Phoenix and is projected (from what he's been told) to go early-mid 2nd. The guy is a freak athlete, and will really improve his status with his testing. Ran a 4.4, and is a gym rat.

I would dig this BIG time! Okoye is young, quick and smart, a perfect fit IMO. Interested to Zbikowski's speed in the combine, but you've gotta love everything else about the guy.

21- Michael Bush, HB Louisville
53 - Brandon Mebane, DT California
70 - Mason Crosby, K Colorado
85- Dan Bazuin, DE Central Michigan

We really need to get another Day 1 pick, so we can take advantage of the really good WR class.

Realistically, do you think Tatum can get us a 4th rounder?
