The article heading is a bit confusing, because Spiller is quoted in the article as saying "It's a possibility, but I'm not sure." Bowden is such a fcking disaster. Pay the man his buyout and get him out of here. I don't care if there are no big names available. There are some quality assistants who just need a chance. Hell, maybe we could get the Boise State coach (I can't even think of his name; he has to be better than Tommy). Florida would be sick with Tebow, Havin and Spiller (though Spiller would have to sit out 2007 per NCAA transfer rules):
Spiller Pondered UF, But Staying Skip directly to the full story. By ANDY STAPLES The Tampa Tribune Published: Jan 9, 2007 PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. - After briefly considering transferring to Florida, freshman RB C.J. Spiller has decided to stay at Clemson. Clemson athletic department spokesman Tim Bourret confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Spiller decided to remain at the school after meeting with coaches for several hours. In an interview earlier Tuesday, Spiller, the tailback from Lake Butler who finished second in the voting for Atlantic Coast Conference rookie of the year, said he was considering a transfer to the University of Florida, but not for the obvious reason. ''It has nothing to do with them winning the national championship,'' Spiller said by cell phone as he drove from his home in Lake Butler to Clemson, S.C. Spiller is enrolled in classes at Clemson for the spring semester. Asked if he intended to transfer to Florida, Spiller said, ''It’s a possibility, but I’m not sure.'' Spiller, who chose Clemson over Florida and Florida State last February, had called his dilemma a ''family thing.'' His 9-month-old daughter, Shania, lives in Florida. Spiller said he was plagued all last season by Internet rumors about his future. He rushed for 914 yards and 10 touchdowns and caught 19 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns last season. ''I have never asked for my release from Clemson,'' Spiller said. ''I’ve seen that on the Internet that I’ve been asking for my release all season. I never asked for a release from Clemson.'' |
