Closing? That window is closed. The KC offense is nowhere near what it was in past years. They have LJ, Gonzalez, and that's about it. Green has gotten old in a hurry, and that O line isn't anywhere near as good. It's over for a while.

That was Shields' last game. Gonzo is gone. Kennison is finished. Is Green retiring? He should. It's over.

I don't think it's closed completely, but it's closing fast.

The fact is this, San Diego has virtually the same offense and is thriving. They've got a stud RB, a stud TE, and nobody of note @ WR. I know, the rookie Vincent whatever is supposed to be good, but right now, they have nobod at WR.

It all depends on if Green can come back healthy next year. He just hasn't been right this year from what I've seen. And you guys need to start looking for a QB, unless Huard/Croyle is the future.

Nah..

With King Carl in charge and sheeople willing to pay the price it's back to the 80's for the chiefs.

Herm is a joke...

Peterson from Boise State could have coached a better game.

Didn't Herm say he just wanted to win? Why wasn't Damon Huard in?

Chiefs are horrible at QB, both tackles, and at WR. Other than that, they are great offensively Gonzalez didn't exactly have a good game either with his drops, plus Kennison looked scared out there.

In all honesty, the Chiefs are on the decline. Their QB is aging and has may call it quits after this year. Behind him you have another aging game manager in Huard and a unproven rookie in Croyle. LJ is already nearing the end of his physical prime and the TE and go-to guy are aging. They also don't have much quality depth. Defense isn't as bad, but they are pretty much an average unit.

This was pretty much their last chance to make a legitimate run at a Super Bowl.

Green got no protection today... something K.C. did pretty well at one point.

K.C. is headed for a world of hurt, especially if they really are fed up with Johnson. They could be the new Raiders if they're not careful.

This was a legitimate shot at a Superbowl?

IMO the defense is rising the offense is dropping. The opposite is probably true for the Broncos.

You may be right. But I expect us to draft defense again this year. At least in the early rounds. Edwards seems "hell bent" on stopping anything that may resemble an offense.

I just hope he builds a defense that offsets it.

KC is the perfect example of a team with no longterm vision. I'd say the Fade is better off right now, cuz they have a really good (and young) defense. What does KC have for the future? A couple guys on D? Hehe

This was a rebuilding year?

Why did you spend big money to get Ty Law?

Why did you spend draft picks on your coach and backup running back?

Why was your front office desperately trying to get Willie Roaf to return for this year?

Why was Trent Green back at QB instead of getting Huard more playing time and letting him develop more?

Chefs O-line played pathetically today. they were owned bu the Colts. Couldn't either block for the run or pass protect. With Shields leaving you guys are in need of a rebuild on the offensive line. LJ looked slow and weak to me today. Wasn't running with the power I would have expected. Didn't help that his blockers sucked, but I think he had too many carries in the regulare season. Green will have a tough time behind this line next season. May be a factor if he chooses to hang it up. To answer your question. The window has closed on the Chef's offense. Got to love it as a Broncos fan.

The fade is better off? The smartest thing in your post is the smiley. You're trying too hard.

Question is (does peterson) even know how to rebuild? and he stuck with gunther 2 years too long IMO and failed to address receivers for the future. The window is nailed shut for a long time.

Which is what Herm should continue to do. Keep building the defense up.

Trent could be back for another year. Shields could be back for another year. Gonzo might be re-signed. LJ is still there.
