Key Points From The Loss
IMO, failing to score TDs on three drives inside the 49er 10-yard-line was the difference. Convert even one of them and overtime is not necessary. Cutler and Plummer both had their shots on those three drives. Both are at roughly the same performance level. The difference is that Cutler has upside and Plummer does not. Cutler will be better next year for having played the last five games of this year.
The season was really over when we lost Lepsis for the season. Denver had no adequate replacements, dooming them to an early exit even if they had made the playoffs. The Broncos had the playoffs in hand and let it get away. They can only blame themselves for that. They knew from three weeks ago that they could not lose another game.
Lastly, the team needs a new right tackle. They'll hopefully address this in free agency (or maybe move Pears over to there) but Foster was a disaster all year.
At least it was a fun year and we saw plenty of rookies step up. We can look forward to better years from many of them next year.

What was with the playcalling down there? Good lord it was atrocious. Looked like we didn't know what to do down there. Like, are we supposed to cross that solid white line?
I think we need to be able to man up and run the ball down in the end zone. More often than nought, we fail down there.

I wish we'd gone for it on 4th down at least one of those first couple times. Obviously, once we'd lost the lead, we needed the points. But early on, we could've risked it, and they'd've been backed up into their goal. We were getting pressure at that point.
Shoulda coulda woulda.
