Adopt-a-Bronco:
Got Cut
Default Comeback Player of the Year

Well, so far the only guys I have heard mentioned for this are:

Drew Brees (who played in all 16 games last year)
Carson Palmer (deserves to be mentioned)
Chad Pennington (In the running every year)

Javon Walker is not being mentioned at all. Kind of sad given that he has been the majority of the Broncos offense all season. I am biased of course, but I think it should be between Carson and Javon. The quick rehab that Carson has done is amazing, but he has struggled at times this year. Walker made a fairly quick rehab as well, and has been a playmaker all year.

Anyone else that should be in this conversation?

Hmmm, tough one. I was going to say Brees but Pennington had pretty much been written off. Javon is good but not as suprising as Chad.

I say give it to Pennington. Brees was already comeback player of the year.

Brees should in no way be in the running for this award. He did not miss a single game last season! He didn't "come back" from anything! Sure, he was injured during the last game and missed most of the offseason, but that shouldn't count for an award like this.

To comeback you had to leave...Pennington and Walker are the only two on that list and Pennington should strap gun powder to his balls to get some zip on them

Brees is the guy. Maybe even the league MVP.

Not neccessarily. The player named Comeback Player of the Year shows perseverance in overcoming adversity, in the form of not being in the NFL the previous year, a severe injury, or simply poor performance. For example, Drew Brees won it in 2004 when he had a probowl year after sucking in 2003. I'd vote for Pennington because he was basically left for dead last year, but might well get his team into the playoffs this year.

While Bress may have had a tough injury....he played the whole season last season and this season. He's not the guy. Pennington or Walker should get it....probably Pennington..he just doesn't have that Cutler zip on the ball.

Walker is my vote, but Bronco players get overlooked on a daily basis. Doubt he even gets mixed in the conversation!

What exactly has Brees comeback from?
A 16 start 3500 Yd 24 Touchdown 89.2 rating season?

Brees for MVP maybe, but not comeback.

Brees for MVP is a joke, especially when you consider those initials... LT

I think Walker should at least get some consideration. 65 receptions for 1059 yards and 8 TDs coming off a terrible knee injury and playing in a run first team with QB issues most of the season is nothing to scoff at. Not to mention that sweet 72 yard TD run he had earlier in the year.

And still one game to go, so it's not unreasonable to think he gets to 70 receptions, 1100 yards, and 9-10 receiving TDs.

I'm not trying to say that Brees should be the guy. Pennington is coming off not one but TWO surguries to this throwing shoulder. Who honestly thought that he was going to be able to play again? And who honestly thought that the Jets would make the playoffs this year? Pennington proved a ton of people wrong, and that's why he should win it.

Walker should get some consideration. Brees isn't really coming back from anything and when you look at Pennington's stats they are very mediocre.

Pennington has 16 tds and 16 ints and a QB rating of 81.

Walkers numbers are far better IMO.

Per wikipedia "The player named Comeback Player of the Year shows perseverance in overcoming adversity, in the form of not being in the NFL the previous year, a severe injury, or simply poor performance."

I personally like Jeff Garcia for this one. I had written off the Eagles after they lost McNabb, and here they are at the end of the year not only in the mix, but controlling thier own destiny for a division title. It is one heck of a story, and I don't even particularly like the Eagles.

I have seen a couple of Eagles games this year though and I believe that without Garcias leadership and experience they wouldn't be anywhere near the playoffs. Walker is a great player and has definately got the qualifications for this award, but I think Garcia is a better fit.

Good find on the definition.

Walker is my comeback player of the year regardless.

But ur right, Garcia is deserving altho the only reason he is coming back from anything is Mcnabb got hurt.

Brees getting this award would be a joke. Pennington wasn't the driving force behind the Jets' recovery this season(Though he didn't hurt), and his stats are mediocre.

Garcia or Walker, though Walker whould get the nod. If Steve Smith could get it so could Walker.
