28 rushes next week against the Jaguars, and Larry Johnson will set the NFL record for most rushes in a season.
This leads me to an observation, and a question: The observation: I wonder if Larry will appreciate the way his black coach has treated him in two or three years; which leads to the question: If you were an orthopedic surgeon specializing in microfracture surgery, would you be proactive in calling LJ right now, or would you wait until he called you? Because I am pretty sure that this is what you would see if you x-rayed LJ's knees (either one) right now: ![]() |

If LJ were a car and you were thinking of buying it...would you rather get the warranty for 100,000 miles or 2 years?

I allready commented.
I don't know if you were here when I went postal about running Portis a 38th time when we were in close field goal range. He tore his MCL and was out two weeks but limped into the playoffs and couldn't even run against Indy. Bobo can talk about yardage total. Anyone with any sense knows that backs have a limited shelf life. 440 carries is absurd and would set a record. We worked TD hard but never for that many carries, not even close. He ran for 392 so he was worked hard, but he gained 5.1 per carry in his 2000 yard year and was put in the shed. Diaper Boy is averaging 4.3 ypc. They can run him into the ground for all I care. |

Really dimwit?...He has 417 touches from the LOS.
I bet he has over 440 touches from scrimmage. Does he still get tackled on a short pass Bobo? Actually if he touches the ball 31 times again next week he will have 448 times he's been tackled this year...I imagine he's walked into the end zone a few times, but they are still touches. Reality sucks huh Bobo. Last edited by watermock; 12-24-2006 at 03:55 AM.. |

Just for perspective here is a list of the top three record holders for carries in a season and what happened to them
![]() 1. Jamal Anderson. We all remember him I'm sure. Very comparable to LJ. He didn't start his first two years (sound familiar?) and really only got going his third year. In his fifth year He hit the magic mark in 1998 on 410 rushes, 1846 yards and went to the Super Bowl. The following year he was injured. The year later he came back and barely managed to get to 1000 with a 3.5 yard per carry average. He was out of football the following year. Shelf life: 3 good years ![]() 2. James Wilder: Another big power back (surprise) that split carries early in his career with James Owens. John McKay's running back by committee approach was pretty much garbage as he ran the ball to death like herm and went through backs like Kleenex. He finally settled on Wilder as the main guy after his three years in the system. In 1984 he had 407 carries for 1500 yards. The following year he had managed 1300 yards. The following years were met with steady and proportionate decline as in 87, 88 and 89 his numbers fell to 704, 488, and 343 respectively. By '89 he was done. Shelf life: 3 good years. ![]() 3. Erik Dickerson: Well we all know his story. Obviously a Hall of famer. However, after breaking 400 carries he was injured the following two seasons though he did come back for two more good seasons after that. It should be pointed out that he was the least like Wilder, Anderson and LJ. He was a powerful back, but he had more speed and finesse than the others and that helped preserve him some. Still a powerful runner, but more a complete package than the one-trick pony the other three are. Shelf life: 7 good years (not bad at all) So, yeah. Herm is wearing him down. And imagine what's going to happen when Shields retires, Gonzo signs elsewhere and Kennison and Green are a year older? The bullseye on his chest just got a lot bigger. Imagine if Green retires? You know Germ is going to protect his rookie with much more of the same. LJ is being burned out in a pathetic 9-7 season by a mediocre coach who will grind his legs into oblivion. Have a Merry Christmas, Chief fans. ![]() Last edited by Kaylore; 12-24-2006 at 04:35 AM.. |

See, Khan - that's what I was looking for when I started the thread. I was going to add a poll question as to what the team should be called when they move to Los Angeles, but I didn't want to seem like I was piling on.
Seriously, I think it is borderline immoral to ride someone the way Herm has ridden LJ this year. It shows a total disregard and lack of respect for LJ the player. |

It's Vermiel's fault.
![]() Not many can take pounding year after year like a Emmit Smith. Even Earl Campbell couldn't hold up to constant pounding. I'm not wishing injury, but it's a matter of time is all. |

Severe overusage by Dave Whatsdat is what triggered Ricky Williams going walkabout a few years ago.

Ricky would still look great in a Bronco uniform in 2007.

We rebuilt an aging offense with last years draft and we will rebuild our defense this year which will create a dominant football team for years to come.

Hey, there isn't anything wrong with the KC offense, they hung 20 on Oakland with Walter turning the ball over 4 times.
Hermie will have that offense completely impotent in a matter of months. |
