Default Are the Mastadon's finally extinct?

Just as the Mastadon's fell in the tar pits, Denver has gotten off all 4's and is now walking upright. Hopefully, the Jake apologists have finally died off.

Jay is allready so good, that even a caveman can see it at this point. I haven't seen this place so giddy in years. Don't get me wrong, Jay will have more bumps in the road, but Lord help me, I never imagined how fast he would develop. I was just hoping for a little improvement from last week.

Are people starting to see what we were saying about the sky's the limit with this kid yet? Jake was bouncing off his ceiling. I would love to keep him but he needs to accept the clipboard barring injury. I say we let him search field and if he's not getting a bite, bring him back with a new, smaller contract.

How Jay manned up and tossed that bomb with a defender bearing down on him was...well, I'm going to say it. Elwayesque. He also had some throws that were literally a blur. He also showed touch. Some of those lasers would of lodged in a stomach!

I know this is a redundant thread but I couldn't help myself. This kid is so far ahead of Elway at this point in his career it's reason for dancing in the streets this monday. This is absolutely nothing against the Duke, but he didn't come out of the gate like this.

I was concerned about Jay's accuracy after his first start. Then he improved against San Diego vastly. Yesterday, a star was born.

Jay is still going to make rookie mistakes, but dayum...

Mike and MIKE are talking about the coach killer Vick. He's not improving in his 6th year, he's been regressing. Jay so far outperformed the others in the big three it wasn't even funny. Rivers had a poor game too.

I'm as excited about Jay's progression as any..but its been 3 games. To quote the tuna, "Don't annoint him yet."

Sorry, but Elway struggled his first year. Your making selective quotes. I also said that he will still have rookie mistakes and bumps in the road.

Quoting the Tuna is like quoting the Grouch on Sesame Street. He's always looking pained, and that was before he was force fed T.O.

All we wanted was for Jay to play as well or better than Jake, and set the table for next year. If we can knock off the Bengals, the table is set to sneak into the playoffs. We win the last two, we are in...if not, so be it.

I'm not annoiting any player but Champ, and certainly not "Haymaker Carmello". The point is that I didn't expect another quantum jump in performance this week despite the loose Arizona defense. It was still on the road. Jay's only pick was a miscommunication...he was deadly accurate Sunday.

Let's see...Leinart had a 51...VY had a 70, Rivers had a 12. Jay had a 101.

Remember my prediction? I said I thought Jay would throw 2 TD's/1 INT, and throw for over 250 yards. Nope, I don't know anything.

I don't care who your playing...you throw up 37 points on the road your going to win.

Joe Heisman has gotten on the Jay bandwagon. He's always the first to spin backward.

I feel like we have finally lifted anchor and are moving forward again Baja.

I honestly think Jay's game will eliminate any lingering sentiments by the vets, if there were any at all. Now someone take a 2x4 and club that rich slacker Warren and wake the fool up.

My late father said that the only way to get a mule's attention was to club it.

I was emphasizing that Jay outlpayed his counterparts THIS week. Even tho Jay hasn't played as much, VY's impact on Tenn. is unmatched for the big 3. I do think Jay will end up being the best of the bunch, partly because of the org. he plays for, but mostly because of his right arm. And I refuse to annoint Jay (as the next great blablabla) after 3 games. I refuse to annoint Jay this season barring a playoff win.

You have been listening to the knobslobbering ESPN talking heads too much. All they did was jump off the Vick bandwagon and jump on the VY bandwagon.

VY has a 65 rating and more picks than TD's. Next. He's a winner I agree, but his stats are far from stellar. BTW, Jay can run too. Maybe not like the deer that VY is, but he can run.

QB's are not made with legs, but their arm...ironically, Jay scored elite on his ten yard dash for QB's.

Barring injury, we are in for a nice ride with the new talent that was badly needed. Now we can turn our heads back to the defense.

If we got a franchise type RB I would simply cream the jeans....we don't have an LT, Larry Johnson type back. Imagine that with Jay and his new crop of WR's. I think that's set. We also get Hixon next year.

man you and me both , I am starting to think Cutler could play well in the postseason , and cutler had a better game vs the Chargers then Green or Plummer ................we got us a winner in Cutler , kid seems to find the endzone
6 TD's vs 3 picks for a rook or even a vet is outstanding .............
Cutler just knows how to get it done .......

His pick was just a miscommunication as well. It wasn't in the same time zone. He was throwing stuff that you either caught it or it kocked you down~ He doesn't make that easy pick, his rating is in the 120's. that was just a rookie mistake. By two rookies.

The Bengals bring a stiffer defense and are playoff hungry...what I like is he's gotten a taste of victory.

Now we can put to rest the "he will crack under pressure" mantra to rest. If that bomb to Walker wasn't a pressure throw, I don't know what is. It reminded me of that one guy...forget his name.

I was going crazy yesterday! If this ****ty protection kills him I'm going to be crazy mad. Can you imagine this kid with a real franchise RB?

Dennis Green was asked after Sunday's game what he thought about the impressive rookie quarterback from vanderbilt: "If you wanna crown his ass, crown him! The kid is who we THOUGHT he was!!! That's why we passed up on him. We're the Cardinals!!!

i was going crazy also , Cutler faced the 3-4 with the Chargers , and odd enough only game he didnt throw a pick
after that dead on 60 yard pass for a TD , I suspect our running game will start to open up

I can see DC's all over the league with their jaws slacking watching that throw. Plus some others.

"Christ...not again..."

What was most impressive to me, is that Jay manned up and took the hit like that other guy...can't remember who it was...He will take the hit.

Hopefully, Shanny putting on some reading glasses will help him pay call better.

I started haveing some pairs around here...god it's irritating. I guess there is nothing you can do because your eyes don't focus as fast. This puter probably didn't help either.

Skippy is hammering on Eli...how amusing.

Hell, it's hard not to. The kid can make some throws, runs the O at a fast tempo, scans the field pretty good, looks off defenders, gets the ball out on time. He has a bit of a windup, but great velocity and accuracy.

Now, yesterday was one of those days when everybody was clicking well, the receivers were running some excellent routes. There will be days where they are not. One of the great thngs I think is that he has quite a few fellow rookies/new guys whose future is bound up with his, and there has to be a bond there where they're really pulling for each other and don't want to make each other look bad - Scheff, Marshall, Kircus, MB, Walker, and even Kuper, Eslinger, Meadows, Pears.

We'll see how it plays out. I've been to Mile High, there's plenty of loud-mouthed drunks that will ride him, just because they can. He'll get Kiszla'd and Cloughed, there's no doubt that he'll be ragged on just because people can.

Guy even scrambled like Elway - taking a couple of shots. He's gotta learn to get down fast in the NFL and protect himself - I'm sure that will be Shanny's #1 item to be addressed at the film session.

I like when Matt Leinart took a shot also - he took helmet to helmet greeting from one of the DBs - I think it was Foxy, who pinned his ears back to the turf - good stuff.

VY has provided one helluva spark for the Titans and is on quite a streak..granted last game was won defensively. But the week before vs. HOU he won the game single handedly. Bandwagons are hard to not jump on when they are riding winning streaks. Esp. in a town like Nashville where the Titans have no business even being in the playoff hunt.

I've watched him several times this year and he impresses the hell out of me. To elevate him to the top tier he will need to cut back on the INTs...

Comparing Jay's legs to VY's? Sure, Jay can move for the proptypical QB he is.... but COME ON, less than 3 QBs in the league have the ability to stretch the field like VY.

VY's running game is different from Vick's, as he is a long strider versus the scrambler Vick. I've also noticed VY protects his body moreso (running out of bounds, sliding) than Vick, and I think that comes from not having to depend on his ground game like Mike... Vince CAN throw... and I'm willing to bet his arm will surely surpass #7's shortly.

I stand by my contention... VY has had a bigger impact on his team (unless you count Jay making Jake **** himself every week when he struggled) and is more proven in their short careers.

But again, at the end of it all..... I think Jay will enjoy more success.
