Default Any chance Ronnie Bradford ISN'T gone this offseason?

Seriously, the most consistently bad unit on the team this year has been special teams. It's unbelievable.

I like Ronnie Bradford, but doesn't someone have to take the fall for this? In my opinion, we need to spend the money to get a real ST coach, rather than using it as a training ground for other positions (Dennison, Bradford).

So what's your guess?

Also, what are the odds Ernster has the same responsibilities next year? He hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire since Sauerbrun was cut.

The thing that scares me is that our special teams were this bad last year, and bradford didn't get fired. What exactly were they hoping for this year? As far as ernster goes, after the jason baker and micah knorr debacles, my standards for punters are so low, I'm having a hard time ragging on him.

I agree.. Ronnie Bradford has got to go.. 2 years in row of bad play should cost him his job. I've seen coaches get the ax for less.

I doubt Bradford will be gone because of the loyalty Shanahan has for people he works with.

Coyer, Patterson, and Bradford will have their heads served on a platter, mark it down...

The frustrating thing to me is that Shanahan appears to se special teams coaches as training grounds for other spots. Dennison cut his teeth as ST coach (and I always thought he was a crappy one, to be honest) before he got promoted to OL. Then Bradford takes over - the guy's only been out of football for a few years.

I'd love to see us hire an Alex Gibbs type coach for ST - someone who is a career ST coach that knows what he's doing.

I can't see Coyer going. I wish, but I doubt it.

#32 - worst - average starting field position. That's a telling stat.

Least we are consistent in one area. The offense and defense have been inconsistent all year.

All kidding aside, there really is no way Bradford should keep his job. The STs have been brutal.

No doubt. Plus, we let the other team start at the 40 half the damn time. Our punting sucks. Our returns - both punts and kickoffs - as you mentioned are miserable. Only Elam keeps soldiering on. And when any rational person looks at this I would hope he would see that its from leadership - coaching.

Well two of them are postion coaches and the other is a ST coach. All those areas are severely failing the team and have been doing so for more than just this year

I didnt realize we had so many little guys on the KO team until I saw it live yesterday.

If I remember right we have 7 or 8 out of 11 that are CB's.

They can not shed blocks, its disgusting to watch.

Playing Devils advocate:

Ignore the kickers and returners on special teams. Can anyone list the other ten players on the kicking and return teams? We all know Burns is on the coverage teams. He has all the heart in the world but is getting old and slow. Can anyone tell me another player on coverage or returns and tell me why they are good special teams players. Maybe the Broncs simply do not have good special teams players.

Titles in Football are just like titles in business. Many times they have little to do with actual responsibilities. (Director of First Impressions = receptionist)

No it wasnt..............

Dwill was actually decent on Punt Returns, Steriodbraun was in top form, and the opposing teams offense didnt start from the 40 every time.

I refuse to try to figure out why Shanny keeps some people

look at McGriff for example.....that is why I can never guess what Shanny is going to do

I think they will offer the job to Burns if they let Bradford go.

Why is everyone after only Patterson? I'd include Burney too. He's responsible for the DE's. Coyer also has to share some of the blame.

It's a good observation, but it stinks. As much as I like Burns, and as much as I respect him for what he's done on ST over the years, he has zero experience as a coach. Hire a real ST coach and hire Burns as his assistant - make him a player-coach, like they did with Jimmy Spencer. All that is great - as long as they get someone who has been to other rodeos, so to speak.
