Three reasons he shouldn't be kick returner:
1. Fumbles
2. Does not secure the ball before starting his return
3. Does not hit the right hole and when he does it is not at full speed.

Like I was telling my bro yesterday, he probably looks like an all-pro in practice against our coverage team. I wonder if the mastermind considers that.

THis is probably true maybey not an all-pro but looks good enough that he keeps the job. I think one look at the tape and Shanny should know to bench this guy either that or tell him to take a touch back evry time he gets a chance.

Charlie Adams looked better.

David Kircus looked better.

Cecil Sapp broke tackles.

I don't get why this guy has his job. He should be on the practice squad until he contributes somehow.

I said it in a post several posts back and I'll say it again. Brian Clark
is the reason this team is doing badly. He is dragging the whole
team down with his poor play.

He fumbled a key return last week. Thats all you need to know.

Overall our whole return game is a joke. Dante hall or Devin hester couldn't do much more until someone finishes a block.

Are we still 31st in starting position? maybe we slipped to 32nd finally.

Exactly, someone pull Sauerbraun out of his 3 month booze and roids' bender and get him to Dove Valley asap. Its not like Ernster is helping our kickoff coverage.

Clark is still a rookie and has room for improvement, but he's not getting any help from his blockers.

The kid's never returned kicks before in his life (from what I've been able to find about him, at least). No point ragging on him anyways though, we could have Dante Hall back there and we'd still suck, it's our blocking schemes and all that jazz, they're just brutal. At this point it looks like they just put whoever's the least important to us back there, and hope he doesn't fumble. Truth be told if there was any chance of a hole opening, i'd prefer DWill returning kicks, but i guess there's no point risking getting him hurt.

I honestly think Sauerbrun won a couple of games for us last year. Field position and turnovers are the two areas we consistanly came out on top last year.... hence 13-3 record. You could just count on him flipping the field every time he punted. This year, Earnster shanks every single time we are pinned deep. He has several nice punts when we are at midfield... but so what. Surely tod wants to work... the FO needs to swallow a little pride and beg him to come back.

Watching the Chargers game he reminds me ALOT of Roc Alexander back there. Hes constantly running into his own blockers, and if he does get an inch to run someone ends up tracking him down shortly after. I dont know what the problem is. I dont want to put it all on blocking, but i saw Sapp damn near run one all the way back last week. I saw Kircus almost run a punt back. Its hard to believe that this is all blocking.

Is it me or does he catch the ball with his hands alot. Im not sure the technique used for kickoffs, but i see the best returnes trap it in there body. Maybe he still has that WR mentality where its "Catch with your hands, and bring it in to your body" but that just doesnt sit well with me. Whenever i see him on the field still returning kicks, im grateful if he holds onto the ball and the offense has a chance.

And God help me if they put Darrent back there, he'll catch the ball at the 10 and end up out of the end zone for some reason. That guy just doesnt know how to cut his losses and go down.

Exactly! At least this guy runs forward every time. I hate all these guys that run sideways and backwards (Dante Hall and even D Will). I would much rather have a guy run straight up the middle and with some decent blocking he could break something loose.

Didn't they put him in there so he wouldn't get signed by Green Bay or something?

When you are a mediocre team stuck in a rut nearly every position is up for grabs and more than anything we need some special teams guys that can make plays and I haven't seen any signs of this guy being one of them.

Teams that use RB's as kick returners seem to do well.

SD, JAx

Maybe we should try out Tatum back there or Nash.

Well we had Sapp back there till his leg was broken on a cheap shot. We've used Mike Bell infrequently as well, so we have tried the RB route it just hasn't worked. And no way should we use Tatum, he is fragile enough as it is.

SD and Jax both have quick RBs that can break a tackle. Rarely will you be able to gain much yardage without at least ripping through an arm tackle. Unfortunately, not many guys on our team can break a tackle with the exception of Sapp and his slowest return in NFL history.

I don't know if Id like to see Tatum go back there, get bum rushed and see the ball fly 13 yards in the other direction. I never felt safe when he has the ball in a regular running situation, let alone on a kickoff/punt. To top it off, i cant see his toe lasting very long either.

Quincy Morgan is wasting a roster spot at this point. If he's not returning kicks he's of zero value to this team, he's this year's David Terrell. I hope Hixon can get on the field next year and contribute to our return game

If we put Tatum back there we'd go from having him play in 12-13 games a year to about 9-10.
