Javon Walker should be used more

While very excited to see the rookies starting to come around, I wish Cutler and Javon become more in tune with one another. Hopefully this offseason, they work out together to get their timing worked out.

Right now, you almost get the feeling that Walker is about to explode because he doesn't feel like he's an integral part of the offense right now.
He's our best weapon and should be used more.

The problem the OL is having with pass protection, Javon being doubled most of the time, Cutler's familiarity with Scheffler and Marshall, and the inconsistent running all must be factored in the Javon' disappearance from the offense.

My hope is that Walker doesn't become a distraction with his comments or lack thereof lately. He's biting his tongue and trying to be a team player, but reading his comment in last the couple of weeks, there's certainly something bubbling beneath the surface with him.

I think he sees the big picture and realizes that he will benefit from Cutler's maturation process long term. I hope so, anyway.

its not hard to figure this out. sned another guy deep a couple of times and complete the passes and then there isnt a problem he wont be double teamed. honestly we are rebuilding so just enjoy cutler coming into his own . its going to be nice

I thought the O line played well. The chuggers have a really good pass rush and for the most part the pocket was secure. Cutler has to throw the ball sooner but that will come with practice.

Just replayed the entire game and the Oline did an okay job. What annoyed me was that they broke down at crucial moments like Castillo running through untouched on 4th down or when Cutler got sacked while in the red zone, leading to a field goal. Both of those sacks were from miscommunication from the interior line, not from Pears or the forum's whipping boy Foster.

True! The SD defensive linemen are just beasts. But all season long the OL has been a sieve in pass protection. Would quick passes to Javon help out? That would give him the opportunity to do his thing and possibly open up things more in the middle of the field. Whatever the case, just get him more involved.

Worst play was when Carlisle totally whiffed.

Or was it the two plays that Pears whiffed. Or was it the time Hamilton was manhandled and pushed into the backfield. It was more than just a play.

Walker should be pissed at Shanny. It was said yesterday during the game, but jake did alot of 5 and 7 step drops and bootlegs, even play action. we rarely see a 7 outta jay and if he does one he gets hit. Move the pocket, run a boot a sprint out...something. Let jay succeed.

Do you have a link or something, or are you just guessing? I've heard nothing but positive from Walker since we made the switch. Last week he was saying Cutler had an arm like Favre's. I haven't seen anything coming from Walker's mouth to indicate that there's trouble on the horizon.

I'm just reading between the lines, but it's obvious his getting frustrated. As stated below, he backed off his comments after the Seattle game and declined to comment yesterday so as not to come off as selfish. After re-reading the last link, evidently he doesn't think timing is an issue. So I call BS on myself for suggesting timing is the problem. That said, their unfamiliarity with one another does play a part in this matter, despite what he's saying publically.

While Cutler has a rapport with the young players, with whom he played in the preseason and practiced as backups for the first three months of the regular season, he still is looking for the veterans. Receiver Javon Walker had a team-high four catches for 52 yards, including a key 17-yard reception in the third quarter. Smith had three catches for 20 yards.

Walker politely declined to speak after the game. He said he would gladly speak during the week leading up to Sunday's road game against the Arizona Cardinals.

After a home loss to Seattle last Sunday, Walker complained, saying the team needed to get the ball to its playmakers more. The next day, Walker calmed down, saying he needed to play better. He also predicted that when Cutler truly gets going, the Broncos would be unstoppable.

Receiver Javon Walker, the team's top deep threat, noted after the game he was just "out there running around" and admitted to being frustrated because of it.

He suggested the coaching staff needs to find a way to allow Cutler to get the ball into receivers' hands in an effort to kick-start the offense as the Broncos' final four-game postseason push begins.

"Obviously, we all know he's got an arm," Walker said. "It would be a shame not to go ahead and use that. I'm sure somewhere down the line they're going to showcase all his tools."

That might help relieve some of the pressure that's building.

"We just have to go out and play football," Walker said. "We can't play scared. . . . We can't worry about making mistakes."

When it comes to making plays, wide receiver Javon Walker desperately wants to be involved.

"I'm sure (that deep shots will come," Walker said. "That's why they brought him in. He's a good quarterback, he has an arm, and you've got to go ahead and let it loose."

Such passes were few and far between for Walker on Sunday, as he posted season lows in receptions (two) and yardage (17). However, he was realistic about the situation.

"Obviously everything is not always going to be all fine and dandy your first outing. As receivers, we know those plays are going to come, and like I said, whenever those plays come, you know it's going to be something that most teams won't be able to stop."

Developing timing with Cutler, though, is not an issue in his eyes.

"The timing is always different, because every time you go into a game, it's a new game plan, a new team, so it's really how you make adjustments during the course of the game," Walker said. "Obviously you and the quarterback will be on the same page as far as running routes, but sometimes if you're out there -- and for me personally, I feel like if the ball's in my area, I can make a play -- but (in regards to) the timing, I think that's kind of overrated because you face defenses that give you different looks.

"I think it's how you adjust to those defenses, and as far as what you're seeing and what he's seeing."

Will Walker see the ball fly in downfield and in his direction more often?

"(I'm) not really sure," Walker said. "Obviously with Jay at the quarterback, they're going to want to see what he can do, once he gets a couple of more starts in there, and obviously, we all know he has an arm, so it would be a shame not to go ahead and use that, so I'm sure somewhere down the line they're going to showcase all his tools."

And one that Walker hopes to see utilized is the downfield lob.

"If I can get the opportunity to get my hands on the ball -- moreso like a jump ball -- I feel like I can come down with it," he said. "I think that'll be something that's going to come in the future."
