I was happy to see the potential that we had all been expecting from this kid all year finally materializing. He looked like everything he was being hyped up to be out there. 3 Receptions for 66 yards and 2TDs. Not quite Shannon Sharpe production in terms of number of catches, but in terms of average yards per play, and of course, the touchdowns... Not bad at all.

That and he made an unbelievable circus catch for the second TD. True sign of his athleticism there to keep with the ball.

He basically stole a pick from a DB by tipping it out of the defenders hands for a TD. Pretty amusing.

He looks frigging huge out there and he moves so well.
I still can't believe we added Scheffler, Cutler, Marshall and Walker to our offense in one fell swoop. Greatest off season since 1983. |

he also broke up another pass where Cutler threw to the endzone and he was double covered. DB had a chance but Sheff broke up any chance. That was one of my concerns today with Cutler he tried to make plays he didn't need to make. But he still made plays that were wow type stuff.

Yeah I wouldn't either Jen. I stated at CU when he did watched him every year until he graduated. I would love to watch him in the pros every week.

Scheffler is going to keep getting better and better.
The physical tools are evident. Let's hope he closes out 2006 with efforts like he had today. |

Great offseason but it kind of makes this season even more of a disapointment. Maybe next year everything will click.

Yea, it was interesting to see them go right back to Sheff on that next series.
It was like they realized, ****... this kid is too big to be covered. (They had him double-covered on that pass, btw.) You realize how big the kid is in person. I said coming out of pre-season that he'd be a monster. True to my track record on rookie predictions, he didn't do squat. But, you can see the ridiculous potential, there. He's just a giant, hyper, physical mofo with great hands. As long as he can reel in that energy and run proper routes, he'll be a QB's best friend. |

What I like about Scheffler is that he's fast enough that we could split him out wide any time we wanted to and move from one formation to an entirely different one. I think they kid could play receiver, and like Shannon, have the ability to move in and out of the TE spot at will, changing the possible formations and wreaking havoc in the defensive backfield. He could even line up inside in a double TE and then move out wide or into the slot. When you add Walker and Marshall that's 3 big targets that can all run.

I know that first half was just plain pitiful. They did try to answer so that is a positive. Today was all about small victories. Lets hope it gets better not worse!

Throw in Sapp, Pears, Hamilton and Foster, and you have an incredibly young offense that should be together for years and years.

Yeah, well ... laugh if you must. They're not always happy with Big George, but he's still a young first-rounder.
