Default No Fun League hassles youtube

Bang, on his radio hour, said that the No Fun League is suing to yank all NFL highlights off www.youtube.com

Their behavior has become absurd at this point. Don't you people hear the disclaimer that you can't tape games and they are strictly for the use of the NFL and all other uses are prohibited?

Pretty soon they will be doing house to house searches like the SS for illegal home tapes that just might be distributed to friends. Or soon they will be scrambling broadcasts on pay per view.

Bang laughing about Strahan pushing a sausage mcmuffin thru his tooth gap down his mouth while in an interview was priceless too.

I don't see any end in sight for this monopoly behavior. They don't understand that highlights make for fan interest? Pretty soon there will only be NFL Magazine allowed to even post pictures.

First, they extort the cable companies for their monopoly channel, now they go after youtube.

You Tube, as fun as it is, has made millions off of pirating other peoples' stuff. Legally the NFL is in the right on this one.

I don't know about that... First, last I heard, YouTube was still losing money. Second, I'm fairly certain that some of this stuff could be considered fair use. But I'm no lawyer.

Personally, I think the NFL does themselves a disservice by not allowing fans to load highlight clips of their favorite players in action. If folks were loading up full games, I could understand the aggressive position (though it's completely frustrating that they don't offer past games on DVD).

Also, I don't believe YouTube attempts to make a profit off the clips. As far as I know, everything on there is free to be viewed.

You want to tell me where these millions are coming from? I've never given one red cent.

Ask Taco about the flood of money pouring in from web hits for him.

When the NFL goes ballistic soon, expect your tape collection to be confiscated then. It's your right not to care, but the fact is, it's opressive anal retentive moronic legal posturing IMO.

You do know your breaking the law if you tape a game don't you? Legally, they are in their right to prosecute you for it.

You want to pull the legal card? You better burn your tapes then. It's illegal, at least according to them to redistibute any tape, dvd or any other internet clips or game tape.

Have fun with the future of the NFL Kaylore. I called this years ago.

Just like I said there would be pay per view. They have allready banged thru that door.

Google spent 1.6 billion on youtube. It's about time companies have been adament at getting their properties off of youtube. Since youtube cannot do a good enough job at getting pirated work off, it's about time companies have taken action against youtube in completely removing copyright materials. I'm all for companies protecting their interests.

Actually, according to their disclaimers it's not illegal to tape the games, as long as it's for your private use.

One other thing...If that idot Saban or whatever his name is got the rights to all those NFL films by buying their rights for practically nothing, WTF are they so anal retentive about a few clips for?

What's next...you can only see clips on NFL.com on a subscription? We are allready on pay per view basically with cable...I don't have a problem with that because laying fiber optic isn't easy.

I just don't understand the logic more than anything. Yeah, they can probably legally stip them. BFD...it's just another way to dilute the fan pool.

It's just like the idiotic blackout rules...you have a losing team, so let's completely destroy the fan base by blacking out the home team's games if they don't sell out.

They are such idiots they don't know that people will simply stop following the team whatsoever...it's not going to motivate them to throw 300 bucks for parking, tickets, and two flat beers.

The NFL is run by idiots...you don't generate fan interest by blacking out games...it's the most idiotic thing I have ever seen...people blacked out that will go to the game has to be less than 1 percent if it's blacked out...I bet it's less than 1 percent.

The fact is, you carry the game, people might actually watch the game on TV then go to the game sometime that year.

These people are being paid to be idiots.

That isn't what I said...you can't redistribute them now can you. So if you send a tape to your firend...what do YOU call it?

That's the whole point, and it was made to make a point...I don't think the NFL NAZI's will be banging down your door...yet...but there is a certain precidenct you can't ignore.

They have a thorn up their ass because clips are being redistributed, which technically is a copyright violation...but sheesh...these are just clips for fans.

How about this...they make a similar site with NFL clips...what do you think the chances of that being free is? Case Closed.

That's all they are doing. Just playing a financial game with absolutely no respect for the fan.

I loved the Youtube.com was making millions with absolutely zero proof or cred by Kaylore...

The NFL isn't the only one in trying to get their clips removed from youtube... The problem is youtube hasn't done a good enough job at eliminating copyright clips that belong to others. Youtube is taking the no blame fault. They're outing the users who upload copyright materials and not taking the responsibility approach. It's about time they get sued or potential lawsuits. Taking the "it's not our fault" approach is not going to work.

I'm no lawyer, but I was always under the impression that you had to be making money off of their clips/games before it became illegal.

They are protecting their property. Good for the NFL. So are other companies in demanding removal of copyright clips and threats of lawsuits. Youtube is in the wrong. They're capitalizing on other people's property.

I'm not sure what you consider capitalizing...since the site is free. As noted, the site is still losing money.

Jump into the billion dollar company line...I don't really care...If you don't see how the NFL is quickly changing, your blind.

I don't know where our liberal free press buddies are...probably fighting over who should assasinate Rummy.

Just when you need one, they are nowhere to be found.

Whatever...If you think this is a simple matter of youtube posting a few clips, your very mistaken.

Mark my words.

You don't have a clue where this is actually going. I never said they couldn't contest it...the fact of the matter is I contested what the motivation was...it certainly wan't fan enjoyment of some short clips.

And what about the NFL Channel? Not available on either Time Warner or Mediacom? Naw...they are not money hungry.

When the NFL is Pay per View exclusively you will remember my words tonight.

The NFL probably can't make it that far. Remember that ultimately they a licensced monopoly that is allowed to practice with consent of Congress. If they were to really push for this they had better get a lot of allies on Capitol Hill, because their status could be revoked/legislated.

Web traffic (clicks) are now a tradable commodity. Heck goole paid 1.6 billion for utube. They are not paying for the content, they are paying for traffic.
To come with the "utube is losing money" is silly. It's not about utube making money(for the actual utube site), it's about the clicks, it's about showing you adds.
