What one play, good or bad, do you believe defines Jake's tenure in Denver?

Easy it has to be the great left hand pass. Everyone talks about that one play.

Well I respect everything Plummer did in Denver. He brought us back to playoff football after the Griese era.
The play that sealed it? The fumbled shotgun snap in the 4th quarter against SD when we had a chance to get a TD that could have preserved the game. That is when his time expired. |

I think it's a bit unfair to point to the blunders like his flipping off fans or the left handed throw.
I would say, Raiders game last year: Jake threw a completely useless int right to a raider CB who wasn't anywhere near a Denver Wideout. Raiders get the momentum back in a close game. The very next Denver drive, the commentators, fans all were ready for another Plummer blunder but the guy came right back and completed pass after pass to get a TD. He has his faults, but the one thing I still and always admired about Plummer was his competitive spirit and heart. The guy just wanted to play and win as much as anyone. That defined his tenure here. |

I dont think you can toss out the finger or left handed pass(they will be remembered). I defended Plummer right up until a couple of weeks ago. The one thing I always said about him is....Jake is Jake hes a slinger you get what you get with him. The good the bad & this year the UGLY.

Mine's the pick to Ty Hill against St. Louis this year, when even Hill couldn't believe that Jake threw the pass. Pressure was coming, but not there yet, and Jake pissed down his leg after staring down his WR and threw a terrible pass.

Jake has never been about big plays. Before this year, he was good at doing what it took to move the chains.

The play that I think defined Jake's tenure in Denver was the interception before the half of the Pittsburgh game. We had an opportunity to pull the game within reach if we drive for the much needed touchdown. But instead of pulling the score to 17-10, Jake goes out on his first pass and throws an interception with an open guy streaking down the center of the field.

He had big plays. I was at the Cleveland home game and my wife was mad because I made her stay until the end. Then he threw that pass up to Lelei and we kicked the tying FG. I looked over at my wife, then fiance, and gave her the see what you could have done woman look. She has never asked me to leave a game early again.

![]() IMO When you go out and take a QB like Jake you have to be willing to let him be Jake. By that I mean let him be the gun slinger that he is. He will make alot of plays and he will screw up alot of plays but by handcuffing him and trying to make an actual NFL QB out of him we took away his playmaking ability yet still got his bone headed mistakes. Im not saying its anyones fault or Jake woulda/coulda/shoulda given more leash just pointing out what I see. Also before I get flamed by both sides I'll point out Im not a fan of the gun slinger type QB. |

HEY, I don't remember that pass and I was at the game... OH Yeah... I was wasted by half time being forced into watching Jake the eratic open up with a 6 TO perfomance and an 0-1 record. Somebody please tell me why Jake should be the starter again? "JAKE COULD HAVE WON THAT SEATTLE GAME..." What about St. Louis? Why couldn't he win that game against a non-playoff team? I laugh my a$$ off at homers all the time. Makes life fun. |

We all agree that he's lost his touch, confidence, whatever you want to call it.... and we've moved on. But I think any true Broncos fan appreciates what the guy did for the franchise. He sparked us to a few winning seasons when we were in the dumps. Now it's time for Jay to put the icing on the cake! As for one play? For some reason, I'll always remember the diving first down against San Diego where he separated his shoulder. (And Shanahan said it was a concussion. lol!) To me that play summed up what he was about. The dude busts his shoulder, stays in the game... and throws a TD. Nothing fancy, just doing the little things that are so important, but don't always translate into stats. (Unless you count wins as a stat.) |

I'll be positive, the bootleg he ran in for a TD against the Raiders and he kicked the ball for celebration. Think that was his first home game, no?

What about the horribly thrown fade pass three years ago in SD that got picked and cost us the AFC West on 1st down?
I'll look fondly on Jake for the way we won in his tenure and for the way he fought his butt off every play... lets be honest though, he was never going to win a championship here. Jay represents our future. What that is, good or bad, we need to find out now. After his 1st start, I have a lot of optimism. |

It's pretty amazing that most of you bring up BAD plays to define his Denver career.
He was a VERY GOOD QB for us. To me probably in 2003 against Cleveland in OT after a bootleg where he ran to his left and dove head-first for a 1st down. That showed me that it was going to be fun having Jake around. |

I disagree about not being a negative play. The left hand play, while negative, is unforgetible. It also showed that he will do anything to make a play even if it backfires. Yeah it was a TO but I don't think its entirely negative. JMO

Eh, I'm not going to talk about one of the negative plays. He did more positive than negative things in his time as the starter.
I think the best memories of him will be the times he really sold the bootleg and had the entire defense going the wrong way. ![]() |
