Default Its Amazing.....

How gung ho everyone was before Sunday. Everyone seemed OK w/ the pros and cons of starting a rookie QB including a greater chance of cons over pros. Now that Jay has started his first game,(and I'll agree that it was not pretty) a lot of people allready are second guessing their own support of the move and Mike Shanahan for making the change. I've even read articles in the Post and RMN that are complete 180's from a week ago. Come on people. Even as bad as Jay played on Sunday, how can you forget how bad Jake has been playing. As far as I'm concerned it was an even wash. The positive side is that Jay has his first game under his belt. He played in terrible playing conditions and on national TV in a game that had playoff implications. A lot of pressure for a rookie. There are no guarentees that Jake would have played better. To take it even further, there were way too many mistakes made by other people on offens to pin this one all on Jay. And how about our defense after we had tied the game w/ 2 minutes to go. To let Seattle march straight down the field gaining chunks of yardage each time only to wait to stop them after they were in field goal range to me is unforgivable.
I'm sticking w/ Jay come hell or high water, either we go thru this pain now or we go thru it the beginning of next year. For myself, after the crazy year this has been, I didn't see us as a Super Bowl caliber team anyhow. Let's play the rookie, maybe we can string some victories together and maybe we can make the playoffs. If so great, if not, we have a QB for next year that has a whole lot better grasp of the NFL and what it takes to be a winner.

Not me. I suspected changing QB's wouldn't make much difference.

No, what is even more funny is that before Jay started the Seahawks everyone thought we were a comfortable playoff team. Now, after watching him play, everybody changed their tune to "Well, we weren't going to make the playoffs anyway. I mean even if we did make the playoffs with Jake, we were going to lose."

Ha, pathetic huh? I thought we switched to Jay because "he gave us the best chance to win." Ah, the stupidity of some of the posters on this board.

Most of us that were not happy with it kept quiet....the flood of hopes were just overpowering. Not to mention you got your head cut of if you even said ANYTHING negative about it.

It was too frustrating to read through, so I stopped reading it all! The expectations were rediculous.

I'm not picking a fight w/ anyone specific. I'm speaking in generalities here.
I guess what amazes me most in the media. This goes to prove how fickle the media and people can be. I'm just going on the record to say......

All we are saying........................ is give Jay(peace) a chance. (envision the music playing in the background when repeating)

I've always thought that Jay's worst game would mirror one of Jake's games thus far in 2006, so I never really thought we'd contend for a Superbowl in either case.

Playoffs were possible, and still are mathmatically, but we've struggled too long and had too many injuries to make a significant run at it now.

I'm glad we put Jay in, so we don't have to write off next year as a "will we make the playoffs" year or not. I'm assuming that with all the changes Shanny has made during the season, we can expect the Broncos to be even busier after the season.

We have too many holes, too many loafers, and too many that need to be fired, as per Rod. I expect some wholesale changes this year.

This is exactly why. Many believed we would make the playoffs with Jake but possibilty not get past the first or 2nd round. Now, we are on the bottom of the wild card teams looking up to SD this week and Jets having a nice easy schedule left. I guess making the playoffs is a big deal than doing what the Faiders do almost every year.

Honestly, it's not that any of us don't want to give Jay a chance...almost all of us that don't want him to play right now, want him to be our future QB. We just didn't want to risk our playoff hopes on Jay. And after last week's showing, we are well aware that the rookie mistakes (the ones we expect) are too much for this team to overcome. That's why!

Personally I'm still 100% behind the change. IMO we are not a playoff calibur team at this point. If Jake would have had the same kind of year he had last year we would be a continder. I guess if someone was of the opinon that we still had a chance at the SB they have a right to be pissed at the change. Just depends on your opinon of the team as a whole.

I say keep pushing for the playoffs and cheering your ***'s off and worst case Jay will be WAY ahead at the start of next season. A few upgrades on the Dline/Oline and this team MAY make a run next year.

I agree, and lets hope that our number 1 priority is a STUD DE. My gosh, how many times have we heard that over the years. Even though the defense kept Seattle at bay most of the game, it was too evident again that the opposing QB has way too much time. It seems that way too often, at a critical point in our games, when we need a key play on offense we get heavy pressure on us. When we are on defense and we need a key play, not near enough pressure.

Don't count me in that group bum. I think we just saved a wasted season. I support the move 100% and am glad that the new era of Broncos football has started. Not only that, I'm confident the kid will respond and improve every game. I don't think the playoffs are out of the question by a long shot. My major concern isn't about the offense anymore, but rather about injuries. The Seahawks couldn't muster a single touchdown against our team until Al Wilson left the field with a neck stinger. Our scheme is designed largely around his ability to react in both phases of defense. Thankfully, things sound positive on that front, but clearly injury has taken its toll on this team.

Overall, I'm still confident in our chances of making a wildcard spot, thanks to our terriffic division record. I think we can probably afford to lose one more game, so long as it's not against Cincinnati. I think our team will be up to the task of making it in. It's not going to be easy, but everything I've read and heard makes me believe this lockerroom is pulling together, not pulling apart.

Whether we make the playoffs or not, though, I am 100% behind the switch. We were going nowhere fast with Jake, and I'm just glad we aren't wasting our time with him any longer.

It's more of a messageboard phenomena Bum. I speak to plenty of non-messageboard Broncos fans on a daily basis and most of them have remained calm all season. With a few thousand active posters on here it only takes one moron to start a rediculous doomsday thread and everyone else just piles in to stir the pot.

All season long it was crystal clear to me that Jake wasn't the only problem yet certain individuals made Jakes performance headlines news on this board on a daily basis when we could have easily picked apart the other 2 phases of the game. Atleast the start Cutler in week 1 camp finally has seen the light.

I believe we would have made a stronger finish with Jake in control but there are positives to getting Jay some reps this season as well. I just hope we can win a freakin game.

Go Broncos!

QUOTED FOR TRUTH. One jackass posted a Plummer bash thread after every game now he is blowing Jay's 72 yards through 58 minutes game like it was the best thing ever.

People that don't know are hella annoying.

I've been a Jake supporter the whole time he was going through his ups and downs, but supported the move to Cutler as well. I want to win games, don't get me wrong, but the anticipation of watching the kid grow up through his first five games in preparation for next year is incredible to me.

It probably IS time for the Cutler era to begin. What's frustrating is people were trying to say that the defense was too soft in the second half and the special teams were too "special" and other people not listening. People didn't want to believe us and pointed to Jake's QB rating. We DO have problems that go beyond the QB and those problems just got worse with Wilson being an unknown for Sunday and Sapp on IR.

Don't forget he has sat for 3/4 of the season as opposed to starting w/ game one. IMHO couple that w/ his natural talent and offseason workouts(who knows he might train w/ his WRs all year like some other well-know QB)
I think he'll be fine on day 1 of 2007. He might not be as ready to go as Rivers was after sitting 2 years(which would have been great for Jay had it worked out) but I think he will be more than and acceptable QB when this is all said and done.

So true. My gosh, I don't think I've seen a worse set of special teams in all my years as a Bronco fan(Over 33 years to be exact). Couple that w/ some concerns about the defensive line and O line that were spoken of that actually raised their ugly heads this year and we do have other problems.
I like Jay over Jake because he is the easiest problem to address at this time.
(Its not like we have an over abundance of great O & D linemen on our roster)
We drafted him, the QB wasn't playing up to par so you cut your losses and go w/ the future.

I was hopeful Jay would come out and play great. He didn't but he had his moments of positives too. Most people who are for it understand. The people crying shame and foul are the ones who were against this move. Even if Jay had a so-so game they would have started threads about how Jake would have done better. Jay is here, people don't have to like it but if they are fans of the Broncos they should route for him to succeed. He is the future.

Let me say I was in favor of the change and I still am. The thing that disappointed me Sunday night is it didn't seem like we needed to make the change if that was the game plan we going to use. All the hype about opening up the full playbook really kind of fizzled out. If you weren't going to turn the kid loose, then why make the switch now?

It's good to know that Mike Shanahan benched Jake because of something that was written on the Orange Mane. That's power, baby.

Great question Goob. I thought the same thing myself. I'm sure everyone has there take on it. Personally I think the the freezing temps and the pressure of playing in front of national TV might have made that the way to go. I do know this, the weather will be much warmer in SD so that excuse is out of the way. It will be interesting........

One thing I wanted to mention. Does everyone else feel more of an anticipation for watching the games now that Jay is QB? I was so into that game Sunday, probably more so than any other. Even though he didn't play well, I can't wait for Sunday in San Diego.

Funniest part of the game was when 9news intervied Brandon Marshall as he was walking off the field. He said he didn't understand why they didn't open the playbook up for Cutler and let him loose. Then, and I swear you could see what he just said on his face, he quickly said but Shanahan is the best play caller out there so he knows better. It cracked me up how backtracked after calling out coach for the plays.
