Default Expectations of Jay Cutler

Honestly, I am expecting him to be about the same, statistically, as Plummer. I think he's going to have some immense growing pains but will also show us those "WOW" moments like he did in pre-season. I think any performance beyond that is gravy and if the broncos make the playoffs it will be quite a feat. I hope people are patient with the kid, it's not likely to be smooth sailing these next few weeks.

Bring on the Jay Cutler era.

I too am happy to see Cutler get some real game experience. But expectations are all over the place. The passing game will get better but Cutler isn't the cure to all the teams ills.

Please folks, tone down a few notches and let the kid learn the speed of the NFL and play his game.

i don't change my expectations according to the personnel on the field, in this case.. the team assembled can go deep into the playoffs with quality qb play. let's see if the rook's up to it or not.

Let the kid learn.

If he comes out of the gate smokin'....great...if not...we need to be patient.

I like smokn' but who really knows.

Naw! I'm getting pumped up. To me, half the joy of football is the emotional high. Hell, Leinart just posted 405 yards in a losing effort. He and Young are on losing teams and they're still playing pretty well. Cutler is better than both of them (IMO) and playing on a much better team. Frankly, I won't be surprised at all to see some fireworks this Sunday. It's not like I'm going to judge Cutler based on this one game, or one season, or really, the next three seasons. I saw every one of Elway's games. Believe me, there were some real rough ones. But with Elway, you always knew he had "it", whatever it is. It was just a matter of time. When I saw Jay in the preseason, I had the same feeling. The kid's got "it." Now, it's just a matter of time and good coaching. Don't ask me how I know it, but I just have the odd feeling that the guy who coached Montana, Young and Elway, might have a good idea how to bring this kid along. Happy dayz, Bronco fans. Happy dayz.

I expect him to take us to the playoffs.

I can care less TD - INT ratio, or QB rating.

If this team makes the playoffs, the experience he would gain in 1 game would be invaluable.

Their will definitely by "WOW" moments, i just hope their are no "OW" moments as well.

As Shannahan stated at the press conference. With mini camps and OTA's the rookies now are alot further along than qb's of the past. I dont expect him to be player of the year, but i do expect it to be fun

He should post decent numbers but will have a few mistakes. He will get blitzed heavily, but playing behind the line he had at Vandy and the constant pressure, so he should handle it fairly well.

Season prediction

Seattle - Not ready to predict yet (with Hasselback and Alexander back tonight we shall see what team they are)

San Diego - Loss - to much D in the Diego for a rockie.

Cincinati - Shootout win (big game for Cutler) Cinici's D is pathetic

Zona - Win

San Fran - Win

Thus, I believe the Seattle game is really a key game as it will determine whether we make the playoffs.

Agreed. Time to step into the fire and get it done. Shanny has made the decision that he is the best choice, and the bronco's best chance to win. Time to man up. Patience is not a variable, nor should it be. Win and win big is. We'll see what he brings to the game...dman

*the defense KNOWS they have to play better. We'll see what spark this gives them.

We really need the OL to pick up it's game not only for protection but to allow the running game to take some of the pressure off cutler, as for production i just wanna see him worked in slowly building his confidence, hopefully the TEs will be more envolved in mikes games plan as relief valve for cutler on the short game.

Maybe not player of the year but ROY sounds attainable.

damn straight! as long as we have a kid who doesn't get tunnel vision on a receiver, act like a deer in the headlights or simply drop the f'ing ball on critical 3rd and 4th downs then we have made an improvement. Jake was one of the worst rated passers this year and we've still managed to win, the introduction of Jay can't go anywhere but up unless he turns into Tommy Maddox over night.

I'm hoping for limited turnovers where he isn't seen as a reason for any loss. Also if others on the team step up, that'll help him too. But biggest thing is gaining confidence and keeping it.

Anyone expecting a loooooooooooong pass to Javon to be his first NFL throw? That would be SO Shanny...
