I dont have the equ. to do it but I love fried birds so I buy one most of the time this year (due to how young my newest son is we arnt going anywhere or inviting anyone but close ties here). so this year it is just ham (kind of dissapointing but at the same time releif).

I'm going deep fried myself. Oh forgot to add one thing to the thread. You have to mention atleast one thing you are grateful for. For me I'm just grateful I'm not a raider or a chief fan.

Gonna oven cook one and fry one. Will be the 3rd year of the fry. I inject it with some homemade stuff and then put a mild rub on it. Drink ample amounts of beer and watch it cook. Even if its not great, Ill have enough hooch in me that it wont matter
You guys all have a great Turkey Day! |

Too much to name to be grateful for. Everyday you wake up is one, everyday your close family (children,wife/husband, parents, or brother/sister) is also great. To much to real lay down what I am realy gratful for because there is just to much.

Plumbing, a roof, shower, a fridge! I am truly blessed. |

I'm trying something different w/ my deep fried turkey. Last night I put 1 pound of salt and 1 pound of brown sugar in hot water till it dissolved.
I poured it in a small cooler, popped the bird in and poured about 5-6 pounds of ice over it. I'll let it brine for 12-18 hours. Thats the new part. Its supposed to make it extra juicy. Heres my recipe: Preheat oil to 375 Pat turkey until completly dry w/ Paper towel(very important) Apply turkey rub of your choice Melt 1-3 sticks of butter and mix w/ garlic salt to taste. Inject breast and leg meat w/ butter-salt mixture Insert meat thermometer into thickest part of breast meat Carefully put bird in hot oil Fry until temperature on thermometer reaches 175 degrees Remove, let drain and... Enjoy the best bird of your life. I've allready taken cloves of garlic and inserted them into the breast meat If you really like garlic this works. |

Happy Thanksgiving Meck!!! I'm thankful I live in a cloudy, dreary, foggy flatland called Indiana and not in a Mountain Paradise filled w/ fellow Bronco fans. Last edited by broncobum6162; 11-23-2006 at 10:17 AM.. |

Im not sure what my mother and father in law have planned but they usually do EVERYTHING. 2 Turkeys, one Deep Fried ( oh yea ), Ham, Mashed Potatos, stuffing, the works! All that will be great plus a Broncos victory in Narrowhead. Its been far too long and we need a win to get some confidence back! Come on Broncos!

You are so right. I have a wonderful wife and beautiful kids and stepchildren. The only thing that would make it better is if I was headed up a lift chair lookin at about 3 feet of undisturbed powder. It would be last minute but you just might see me in CO over Christmas Bum Jr. was home for break this week and worked for me a couple of days. I'll tell him you said "Hi" . Best Holiday wishes to you and your better half. Don't eat too much bird.........save some room for beer during the game. ![]() |

What I'm Thankful for...great family & friends, good health, Bronco football...and oh yeah, a certain Maner in my life
![]() You know what though...I'm kind of disappointed about the whole game thing...I'm invited to friends today...and they have a big screen and NFL Network...the problem...their friends invited all of us to their house at the last minute and they aren't having dinner until 4....right in the middle of all the games! The guys are watching the games and they do have a big screen, also, but my friend and her friend aren't big on the games and I'll have to be "sociable"...If we were just at my friends, she wouldn't care and would watch with me. ![]() |
