Bingo.

I've personally selected juries in criminal cases in both Courthouses, and the pools are strikingly different. Not only in ethnic origins, but in economic standing.

There was another very important and little-known reason: the downtown jury had a white middle-age female who was excused late in the game, after Ito received an anonymous letter from a purported employee of a literary agent in LA. That letter claimed that this juror and her husband had been negotiating a book deal through this agency during the trial. She has steadfastly denied it was true - and in fact, she has never written a book. Some media outlet canvassed LA agencies, and concluded that the one described by the anonymous letter-writer did not exist. This juror claimed she would have voted guilty forever, come hell or high water.

The letter was a brilliant dirty trick. Whoever wrote it had more effect on the trial than the glove.

Why not some threads about Heath Shuler, Jack Kemp and Steve Largent?

Former NFL players, right?

I don't blame Darden or Clark. There are no lawyers in the world that could have convinced that jury OJ was guilty. The whole problem with the trial is that it should have been tried in Brentwood not L.A.

It was a travesty of justice by a racist jury that wanted payback against a system in which they felt was out to get them.

Say, how about Lynn Swann losing out in the governor's race in Pennsylvania.
Tough break for Republicans in general.

I don't think that jury wanted payback as much as they were scared ****less of the reaction back in their neighborhoods if they convicted.

I respectfully disagree. Clark and Darden were a couple of woefully mediocre lawyers who were far more interested in playing to the camera than to the jury.

Of course, even more than that, they were politicians, and they actually boosted their otherwise floundering careers by playing to the public.

Quick. Without looking it up, tell me the name of the lawyer who WON the civil suit vs. O.J.

....

As far as the TV show goes, the one thing I can guarantee you will NOT hear is how O.J. actually committed the crime. He will state how he WOULD have done it in a manner that will be completely inconsistent with the evidence.

IOW, he'll say tat he would have killed these people at some other location, with a different weapon, on a different date, with a different alibi, yada, yada, yada.

Waste of time for everyone concerned.

Yep, then he'll say SEE?? That's WHY I couldn't have done it!! Because I would have done it differently!

He's getting 3.5 million for this book. Goldman judgment was 33.5 million.

Wonder if the Goldmans are conflicted about this. They have to be outraged, yet through this book deal at least he'll acquire some cash that they can take from him. Barely a drop in the bucket, though. (not a blood drop, a proverbial drop) oops that wasn't very nice... anyway... it's not about the money for them, it's about extracting the only kind of justice they can, taking away anything from him that causes him pain.

If I were OJ I'd be so embarassed at how pretty much the world views me that I'd slink away from the spotlight like a lizard (no offense to any lizards). But the clueless dumbass pops his head up periodically like Phil the groundhog with outrageous behavior. Unbelievable.

Im not completely familiar with the laws in Florida but you can't take a persons income or something, and that is why OJ is living there. The laws in California also state that you can't take somebodies pension, which OJ gets from the NFL. So this guy is living pretty well I would imagine.

Now as for the OJ case, I always thought that the reason the prosecution lost was because they didn't explain the DNA evidence in detail enough, I don't think the Jury really knew or understood what it meant.

I'm not the mod who moved this, but the move seems appropriate to me. Crime & weirdness stories generally go in this forum unless they involve recently active players or personalities, or NFL related events (such as HOF nominations), and OJ retired about 27 years ago.

If it was off-season ...
