What do you guys think about having our very own Power Rankings on the Orange Mane?
I tried posting this earlier and my computer froze... so either it didn't go through or it was a horrible idea and it went to the butt real quick. I don't see it anywhere. Anyway, I was thinking about this during a class today. Every Tuesday we could sticky a Power Rankings thread where we all posted our individual power rankings. Then we take the average of all the rankings and Wednesday morning we have the final version ready to be seen with just one click on the front page. Also, we could even put our own statements next to each ranking and the best ones will make it to the final rankings. Or, we could just assign a few people around here to do that after the rankings have been compiled. Getting an average of all the posts is the hard part, but i'm sure we can think of something.. Maybe a program that allows input and then calculates all by itself, eliminating the need for the thread. Of course there would have to be a thread to discuss the rankings anyway. I think if there were a program it would be a lot like the Pick 'Em program that Alec made. That way we could see everyone elses rankings as well. Anyway, what do you think? Is this something you'd be interested in participating in every week? I know it's gone power rankings crazy around here but i really think this could be fun. Something to break out the new front page with.. |

What can I say, we got hosed against Indy and St Louis was a fluke.
We should be 8-0 and we have the best player at every position in the NFL ![]() |

I'll agree with 2 of the three.
By the way, Alec. Would a program like that be difficult? |

Could we have a posters power rankings? Like, top 50ish? That would be awesome.

Power rankings are useless except after the superbowl. KC would have a lot of rings because they always seem to be the preseason SB champs for 10 years in late 80's and 90's.

yea well there will be a bit of bias but im talking about a lot of the just stupid stuff that happens (i.e. Pete Prisco) and with a large unit putting them in, it would be more realistic, kinda like how ESPN has set up

Shouild have added one more one line to that post to include how they pick teams for the BCS, which is BS.

It all comes down to Indy/NE/Denver in playoff mode IMO. The NFC is the JV as far as I can see.
Alec, remember when I posted in the chatroom week 1 that the Rams would eventually be lucky to say they got the Broncos early? .......Then you messaged me on the side amidst some of the gloom and doomers to agree with me? I think we can both say we were right! |

I don't even watch college basketball until the brackets come out. I like playing the pools and watching the playoff excitement, but I need the RPIs to help me with my picks. That's why the RPI ratings are the only useful rating system in my opinion. Ratings are there for casual fans, not necessarily for the hardcore.
