University of Miami defensive lineman Bryan Pata was shot and killed Tuesday night, shortly after leaving the practice field, according to a university official with knowledge of the situation.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement still was being prepared by the university, had no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Pata's death. Miami-Dade police refused to release specific information about what happened. Pata, a 6-foot-4, 272-pound senior, is from Miami. |

God, what terrible news. I've said jokingly that this Miami football season has made me cry, but that was just in jest. I'm on the verge of tears after hearing this news about Pata. He was shot in Kendall, which is where my Grandmother lives. This hurts on so many levels.

RIP Bryan.....man that ****ing sucks. He was one of my favorite defensive linemen and probably our 2nd best defensive linemen. A good kid from all accounts too.
Rest in peace, son.

What a tragic waste of this young man's life. I hope they find the person responsible.

Apparently some guy got into an argument with him....we he walked away....the other guy shot him in the head. Took his life over a disagreement. I hate people right now

It's so sad that things like this happen to good people like Bryan Pata while so many bad people are allowed to walk the streets.
Prayers go out to the family and friends of Pata. |
