Wow, what a game! For the first time since the Divisional Playoff game against the Patriots in Denver last season Jake finally gets off the snide and plays a great game. I give him credit for making some big plays. Man, Javon Walker (206 Total Yards) is the real deal guys. Plummer’s 3 TD throws were not really a thing of beauty but he got the ball there and gave Walker and Smith (what a catch he made) a chance to make plays on the ball.
Walker as been more than we could have ever hoped he would be so far. I couldn’t believe the Steelers gave up that reverse play for a TD. Javon just found a hole, shifted into high gear and just smoked them. If Walker stays healthy over a long period of time he’s going to be a go to guy for us for years to come. It’s a good thing too because we didn’t do anything on the ground today. It’s hard to judge our running game against a team like the Steelers who historically have played well against the run. I really believe next week against the Raiders we’ll run all over them. Don’t give up on Mike yet, this wasn’t the best game to judge is ability since we didn’t give him any holes to run through today. You know since the season started I haven’t really wrote too much about Champ. He deserves some kudos today. The guy “is” a shut down Corner and the 2 picks were crucial in this game. I’m thankful he’s on our team, to me deserves all the money and hype coming into to Denver that many said he didn’t. Our D bent but didn’t break. In the first half we didn’t get much pressure on Big Ben. I’m glad we blitzed more in this game, it was effective and hurried Ben into some bad throws downfield. We didn’t play very well against the run and gave up yards between the 20’s but we didn’t let them score. Other than Champ we didn’t cover all that well either but we made up for it by tackling well today and forcing turnovers. Lynch is such a Warrior, what a big hit he laid on Ward on the goal line. We have to get better as a team with the pass rush, not just with the front 4 but with the blitz packages too. The injuries to Gold, Brandon and Ferguson will hurt us if they don’t get back in the lineup quick. The schedule doesn’t get any easier for us the rest of the way. We should be able to handle the Raiders next week but the rest of the games will be tough ones. The Chargers and Chiefs aren’t going anywhere and it could come down to the last game of the season to determine the division winner. But today is what matters and happy and thankful for the win. I guess the guy I’m most happy for today is Jake. I’ve been one of his biggest critics but today was his day and what a way to get his game back with some redemption against the Steelers. Even though the Steelers got off to a bad start this season, they are in no way as bad a team as their record indicates. This is still a quality team and this was a big win for us on the road against a team who had their collective backs to the wall. Jake nice game, please play smart the rest of the way for us. |

Good post though Mojoe. I'm on cloud 9 anout the way our team really came together today. This is the way I envisioned the AFC Championship game.

Flawless woudn't be the word I'd choose. Until the Colts game last week, he hadn't done anything. The great running game and D backed him up until last week.

What I told you was, this wasn't some kind of a "breakout" game. He played well last week, he played well against NE. But, I'll dumb it down for you... STL: BAD KC: Not Great, but made plays when it counted. NE: Played very well. OAK: OK Balt: Bad first half, decent 2nd. Did just enough. CLV: Odd mix of good plays and bad plays, but overall.. not good. IND: Played very well. PIT: Played very well. So, you can spin what I said... or you can recognize it for what it was. Your little epiphany about the QB doesn't really effect the reality of the good and bad of how he's played. |

Heh. I've had no epiphany to speak of. Jake just played a good game. Nothing is going to make you happy. People criticize Jake for bad games, and you throw a hissy fit. People compliment Jake for having a good game, and you throw a hissy fit.
This was Jake's best game of the season, and it came against one of the best defenses we're going to face all year. Jake stepped up and had a game that built some confidence in his doubters, and you seem to think we're having some epiphany on Jake. There's no epiphany here. Jake just had a good game against a good defense. If anyone had an epiphany, it's Jake. I know this is going to piss you off, Popps, but I'm going to go ahead and congratulate Jake for having a good game anyway. |

Winning makes me happy, Taco.
Jabbing with goofs about the QB position is a secondary pursuit, only. As long as we're winning, I'm happy. You're the one who's been pouting all season long after wins and making love-threads about opposing QBs. I just found your epiphany amusing, that's all. |

Honestly, dude... and it's only because I'm up caring for my sweetie every night that I have enough time to watch each game 3 times on Tivo, but I guarantee you Plummer did as much in the NE game as he did tonight.
You may not remember it as much, because it was sandwiched in between some pretty mediocre games, but he did. Jake played well today, no question... but I've been confident that he would once the whole offense started clicking in the new system. Walker is a beast, but that's no surprise to me. He'll continue to shred teams all season. It's going to be fantastic. The only concerns today were the early pass-rush struggles and the running game looked a little stale. I honestly think the RBBC might be best with these two guys, as much as I'm not a fan of it, in general. It's just hard to tell which style is going to work against which team. We may just need to get them both carries in games and stick with the hot hand. |

I gave credit to him day because he deserved it. I'm hopeful he'll play better in the coming games. If he plays like crap he deserves the criticism, if he can't take it he doesn't belong in Denver and should pack his bags now and save himself the grief. It's part of the game with any team in any NFL City. |

A few media quotes on the NE game...
Pinned three times inside its own 5 by Josh Miller punts, Denver consistently moved the ball far enough to give Paul Ernster room to kick it back out of danger. That was largely the work of Tatum Bell, who gained 123 yards on 27 carries -- and the efficiency of Plummer, who hit two third-down passes in the first half to move the ball out of danger. Denver's drive was highlighted by a 19-yard run by Bell on the first play after the blocked kick. On third-and-1 from the New England 32, [Plummer hit Walker perfectly in the corner of the end zone for the receiver's first TD as a Bronco. -CBS Sportsline and the Indy... Manning's counterpart, the much-maligned Jake Plummer, won't have to worry about losing his job this week. He did a super job matching Manning, leading a Denver offense that hadn't scored 20 points all season. Plummer went 13-for-21 for 174 yards and a passer rating of 104.1. Rookie running back Mike Bell came off the bench for 136 yards and two scores, both career highs. -USA Today Keep in mind, these are just game re-caps. Generally unbiased parties just reporting games as they happened. |

We can always pick and choose which parts of the game Plummer played well in. Prior to the Colts game he was last in the league in every passing catagory they have for QB'.s If 3 TD's to 7 INT's is what you call "playing very well" what do you call "playing very bad?" Winning this game cemented Jake as the starter the rest of the year. Had we lost this game because "he played very bad game", Cutler plays next week against the Raiders. He was one game away from losing his job, anyone who denies that "fact" is just a another homer. He's our Man now for better or for worse with a pending divorce in December. The only way he stays in Denver next year is if he wins the Super Bowl. Maybe he shocks the world and gets us through the first round of the playoffs. As much as I'd like to see it Jake doesn't have what it takes to get the job done. He's not good enough to overcome some of the other weakness on our team. A better talented QB could but not Jake. |

Can we get back to the crux of the thread.
I would immediately without hesitation be overjoyed to have Jake take over as Commander and Chief. Jake vs Bush Seriously. Who would you rather have running the country. Jake is a honest, giving, good person. His decision making is questionable under durress, but given more than 3 seconds to make a call, I have unquestioning faith in Jake over fkhead. Socially, both are Christians, but I think Jake is more sensible. Fiscally, anything would be better than 6 years of record deficits and the poverty rate increasing 5 straight years. Enviromentally Jake wins hands down. I gotta say, I vote Jake. |

Actually, there was an article recently in which Jake was quoted as saying that he made all the money he'd ever need back in his Arizona days. That tells me that he's been pretty financially responsible over the years.

It's funny because it's true. Jake can also make a simple statement to the media without mangling anything and sounding like he has down's syndrome. Also, Jake bailed on a chick that was bad news before the wedding, and he was pretty honest about it. I don't think he would stand at a podium and say "I did not have sexual relations with that woman", either. |

I think Shannahan found a new play for him. Until Indy the naked boot hasn't worked, but I liked how Jake would roll out and the line would roll with him and it would kind of create a pocket on a certain side of the field. Weird how that worked, but it was awesome ingenuity by Shanny.
