Woody Paige returning to Denver and will write four columns a week for the Post. Will film Around the Horn in Denver.
I am glad he is back. Don't always agree with him, but I like his humor. too bad they can't find someone to replace Burger Bill |

Denver seems to be a city that doesn't easily let go. Welcome home Woody. Enjoy the view.

That is funny, I added Woody as a myspace friend last week and told him to come back to the post because it sucks since he and Schefter left. Behold the power of myspace.

Woody walked by me at the HOF in the stands on way to press box. 5 other fans alonge his route stopped him. I had nothing of note to say so I let him go by with a nod.

Always liked Paige when I lived in CO. The other guy I always liked is Jim Armstrong. Always has funny notes.

Good. Wasn't supposed to be a permanent move to NY anyway.

Can someone find a photo of Woody from the 70's or early 80's??
It's classic; you wouldn't even recognize him. He had red wavy hair with big Coke bottle glasses. I have some Paige TV commercials in my TV broadcasts, and I shake my head as I can't recognize him. |

Woody Paige returning to Denver Post
By The Denver Post Article Last Updated:11/03/2006 12:53:20 AM MST Woody Paige has seen it all in the world of sports, from John Elway throwing touchdowns in the Super Bowl to Jack Nicklaus draining putts to win at Augusta. For the past two years, however, he hasn't had a forum to write about it. Now he does. The wit, wisdom and wackiness of Woody will be returning to the pages of The Denver Post. "Two of my truest loves in life are Colorado and The Denver Post, and I am thrilled to be coming home to both," Paige said Thursday from New York, where he had just finished taping the popular "Around the Horn" show for ESPN. "I am very much looking forward to resuming my love/hate relationship with the (Denver) teams. I am humbled by this and can't wait to start working for The Post again and being a part of an award-winning sports section and exceptional daily newspaper." Paige left The Post in the fall of 2004 to work full-time for ESPN and became a smash hit as a regular on the morning "Cold Pizza" show and the afternoon "Around the Horn" shoutfest among sportswriters. He will write four columns a week for The Post starting Dec. 1 while continuing to work for ESPN as a panelist on "Around the Horn," which will be filmed in the ESPN studio at The Post. He will no longer do "Cold Pizza." "Woody was perhaps our best- known personality when he left," Post editor Gregory L. Moore said. "And he is even bigger now because of ESPN. He promises he has not lost his touch as a writer. We're excited to have him gracing our sports pages again." Paige will replace Thomas George, who resigned in August to become a managing editor at the NFL Network. http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_4594482 |

Wonder what the theme of his first Column is going to be? I say Denver is going 16-0, but it a little late for that.

I like Woody, he's goofy as hell, but was always a good read, unlike the Current Post Writers. This news pleases us.

good to hear.
woody and his 19-0 predictions. classic stuff. this town could use a sports writer (or radio talk show host) with some comedic value and some positive spins on the local sports teams instead of the usual doom and gloom crap thats disguised as being "objective" instead of being a "homer". whoever started the whole "homer" thing should be tortured. not just killed, but tortured. |

He can do his around the Horn. I didn't appreciate him at times, but he's become a true celebrity, and I'm thrilled to tears to hear he's coming back to enjoy the QB fray.
Once I realized he was more of a comedian that actual analyist, I accepted him. And good Lord, there is a black hole for some editorials that are at least funny deeper and darker than Paris Hilton. I might actually go to their site again. I don't think I have been there for months. I'm sure I will be cursing him again, but in a new light. I also think he's become more well rounded with his experience on TV, especially around the horn, where he actually had to defend his opinions. I just can't figure out who gave that idiot moderator the keys to the store. It is a kangaroo court but I like the show. Just to refresh memory lane...Jay Mariotti used to write in Denver as well. They should bring in Stinky for first and 10. Stinky wrote a song, (supposedly) about Mike Green's attempt to "Man UP" like Golic and Stink. It was set to "Oh Genie" Only "Oh Greenie". Funny as hell. Welcome back Wood Pecker, I can't wait to curse you. |
