True shutdown cover guy in the mold of Darrell Green and Deion Sanders. Challenge him if you dare, quarterbacks.

I wouldn't trade our LBs for Smith's.

Not only is he the best cover CB, he is also the best in supporting the run. Something Deion knows nothing about.

Champ is a hall of famer. The dude is easily the top player in the secondary in the NFL.

Can you name another secondary player that has made as many timely game-changing plays throughout his career with one team while still shutting down an entire half of the field and tackling like a linebacker?

Champ is a rarity. Players of his calibur come along only once in a generation. We're lucky that he's a Bronco.

No, it wasn't. I think it was against Patrick Watkins.

Newman hasn't allowed a touchdown catch since 2004. On Monday, he allowed 3 catches for 63 yds, including one to Burress for 44 yds, again, the longest catch he's allowed in the last 25 games. The Burress catch was on a perfectly thrown ball were Newman had good coverage.

Zack Thomas above Wilson, Urlacher or even Ray Ray is ludicrous.

He's on a 1-6 team.

Comparing Champ to Deion is offensive. Deion hated tackling and playing physical in general.

I remember a home game against the Cowboys, I think it was inbetween SB wins. TD ripped off a long run and Sanders started off well ahead of him. Sanders didn't even try to tackle TD. He ran over and made sure he got behind TD then made a big show of looking like he was trying to catch up. The announcers made a comment like, "I know Deion is faster than Davis, I don't believe Deion wants to catch him." Champ would never do anything like that.

Newman was a track star in high school, so he can definitely keep up with the speedy NFL receivers. In fact, I think it was Newman who caught up to Ron Dayne last year when he blew through the Dallas line to set up the winning score. I certainly wouldn't trade him for Champ, but it's safe to say that NOBODY would complete a sideline TD pass if those two corners were in the backfield together...
