Default Most memorable horror movie scenes

In the spirit of Halloween, let's talk about the most unforgettable horror movie scenes. My parents were pretty liberal about what they let me watch, so I grew up gleefully scaring myself half to death. I'll kick it off.

The opening scene of Jaws-This scene always disturbed me and still does every time I see it. The girl skinny dipping out in the dark, the shark POV shots, the music, the girl being bit, her hyperventalating after she's first bit, her being violently pulled around, and her bloodcurdling screams of "God, help me" before she's finally pulled under for good.

The crucifix scene from The Exorcist-Possibly the most blasphemous scene in movie history.

Little Danny meets the twins in the hallway in The Shining-Those two little girls were creepier than anything else in that movie, and that includes Shelly Duvall (rimshot). The quick glimpse of them butchered at the hands of their deranged father made it all the more terrifying.

Freddy meets Tina in A Nightmare On Elm Street-From the stretching of his arms, to him slicing off his fingers and yellow pus shooting out, to him slicing her open and dragging her across the ceiling, this scene robbed me of some sleep as a child.

I've got plenty more, but I'm interested to read what others have on this subject.

Hmmmm, good topic.

A Nightmare on Elm St. After Tina's death Nancy falls asleep in class only to have Tina show up in a bodybag in the school hallway. You then see Tina being dragged in the Bodybag to another part of the school and there is a big streak of blood on the hallway floor. Creepy.

Suspiria One of the most frightening movies ive ever seen. At the End Suzy discovers who the head witch is and realizes the witch is invisible. But worse is coming through the door to the room is the corpse of her friend who is there to kill her with a butcher knife.

The Ugly While Dr. Karen Schumaker is interviewing Simon Cartwright ( a serial killer ) who has been telling her that his victims have been telling him to continue killing something insane happens. Simon launches himself at her and begins to choke her. Before the orderlys come in to help her she catches a glimpse of the apparitions of the corpses that simon has killed standing behind him.

The Howling Pt V A group of people are invited to a castle and one by one are taken out by a werewolf. It then becomes obvious that one of the members is the werewolf but trying to find out who is very difficult. No specific scene is the best in this as the general atomsphere is very dark and brooding.

The Exorism of Emily Rose Best scene of the film is when Emily's boyfriend wakes up in the middle of the night and Emily is on the floor. Her body is all contorted and her eyes are jet black just laying there. He then gets on the floor to see if she is ok and once he gets too close a low gutteral sound emits from her voice. Crazy ****.

Carrie The last scene where friends of Carrie place flowers on the charred remains of Carrie's burned home and a hand comes out of the rubble to grab the hand placing the flowers.
