Don't know if anybody else is watching this on CNN, but the UN Security Counsel just passed sanctions against North Korea. The North Korean ambassador basically blamed everything on the United States and said that NK considers the manipulation of the security counsel by the U.S. and the sanctions themselves, to be a declaration of war against NK. He then got up and left the room in the middle of comments by the South Korean ambassador. I hope our military is at red alert. I would assume they are. Having spent a tour of duty on the Korea DMZ, I'll bet those guys are wide awake.
Thought this might be worthy of main board posting. |

No, we're not at war with North Korea, but they may be at war with us.
I wish they'd wait until after the Super Bowl. Can someone give them a call and see if this is really urgent? |

We have been at war with those idiots for 53 years. All there is is a cease fire. And it is the UN finally putting it's stupid stamp on it. I bet China abstained.

Shouldn't we wonder why someone was compelled to post a political issue on the main forum?
Isn't it obvious? The war and politics forum has become nothing more than a comination of the DNC and the remnants of the Communist party. |

No, but he's rebelling over the IAM's cat food I got him on sale. He pushed it aside and got to the rest of the chef's blend.
Only Poopy the ancient who occasianally ralphs up is a problem. He's about 120 in cat years. If he gets incontinent he will have to vanish under the plow. Last edited by watermock; 10-14-2006 at 12:12 PM.. |

Yea i think that they are at war with us as was said earlier. We told them not to test their missles and they did it anyways. Its most likely going to be like Iraq if we go in where we go in and try to bring democracy.

The difference between Iraq and north Korea is that everyone in the world agrees that Kim Jong Il is a total Douche bag. China and Russian are sick of the regugees fleeing into Manchuria and Vladavostok because there is not food, no power and no infrastructure. Jong Il plans to use Nuclear poer to hold the world hostage and force them to feed his populace so he can continue to dedicate the mojaority of his resources towards the military.
When I was in Korea you could go up to the DMZ and look across. The communists build big cardboard facades to replicate the real ones in South Korea. Kim Jong Il has been the worst in human rights violations since he took over and is a pet project for all of the major human rights organizations in the world. A good example Kim Song Jung, a man I tought when I was over there. His brother is on the other side and can't leave. He says that dissenters are put into prison camps and where they, their children, and their children are to stay for the rest of their lives. The three generation deal is particularly horrible. Here is a map of the area: ![]() You can see even the rural Mancuria has more power than the captial of the country. It is a place that is in dire need of some kind of intervention, be it war, food relief, whatever. I've been pretty upset the US has been sitting on their thumbs with the country since the eighties. It's a problem no one wanted to deal with and now it's caught up to us. If we removed the guy we could take out some of our forces stationed there. I'm personally of the belief that his army's morale must be pretty low and it wouldn't be hard to force a coup or get them to give up right away. We'll see. |
