Default Crazy Danes at it again

World Islamic body condemns Danish cartoons Mon Oct 9, 9:15 AM ET

The 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) on Monday condemned a new round of Danish cartoons ridiculing the Prophet Mohammad, saying the values of tolerance were shrinking in Europe.

Danish state TV on Friday broadcast amateur video footage showing members of the anti-immigrant Danish Peoples' Party (DPP) at a summer camp in August, drinking, singing and taking part in a competition to draw images mocking the Prophet.

"Muslims have noted with concern that the values of tolerance are eroding and there is now shrinking space for others' religious, social and cultural values in the West," said a statement sent to Reuters by the Jeddah-based OIC, the world's largest Islamic grouping.

"The OIC spokesman deplores the act of caricaturing of Prophet Mohammad by the youth members of the Danish Peoples Party and this being shown, regrettably, on state television," the statement said.

"The running of the footage affected the sensibilities of civilized people and religious beliefs of one fifth of humanity," it said, adding that Muslims around the world had so far shown restraint.

Just over a year ago violence ensued after the Danish daily Jyllands-Posten published cartoons of the Prophet, including one showing him with a bomb in his turban. Protests led to the deaths of over 50 people in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen has denounced the DPP members for drawing the humiliating cartoons. Senior DPP members refused to apologize and party leader Pia Kjaersgaard criticized media for airing the footage of what she called a private party.

Only because they haven't heard about it yet, more than likely.

What perplexes me is why Muslims would really, truly give a shiat about these cartoons at all. I know, I know... someone's crapping on their religion. But at the same time, why not focus all this concern on the abundance of actual, tangible, life-or-death problems affecting, if not gripping, most Middle East countries?

Get some backbone Muslims. People are always crapping on my religion. My take is don't go to that church then. Big deal. I'd say they need to get lives and obviously jobs to occupy their time. The ones I work with couldn't care less.

That is a mind boggling statement. Before the Muslims seek to remove the mote from the eye of the West, perhaps they should seek to remove the beam from their own eye?

Ya, the problem is that quote is from the Bible, not the Koran.
