Default ABC News: Pages ‘Sending All Sorts of Messages About Possible Other Members’

Tonight on ABC, investigative journalist Brian Ross suggested there may be other members of Congress who engaged in inappropriate behavior towards congressional pages:

BRIAN ROSS: So far, Foley is the only member whose overt sexual approaches have been documented. Charlie?

CHARLES GIBSON: The only one to be documented, but are there other shoes to drop?

ROSS: We’re hearing quite a bit from former pages. They’re sending us all sorts of messages about possible other members.

Why Capitol Pages Fear Retaliation

For generations, American parents have sent their high-school-age children to Washington to serve as Capitol Hill pages and to learn about the real world of politics. In the scandal surrounding Rep. Mark Foley's salacious e-mails, it's clear that one lesson the pages learned was to fear Republican retaliation.

It now appears that one of the chief reasons why Foley's e-mails remained secret for so long - and why some former pages still won't speak publicly - is that they recognize that divulging what Foley did to them could kill their hopes for future careers in politics.

This fear of retaliation from today's take-no-prisoners Republican power structure in Washington has been a little-noted subtext to the stories about Foley's sudden resignation on Sept. 29 over his e-mails to pages since 2003.

I hope this will be the event that finally buries Hastert and the rest of these republican crooks once and for all.

I saw some documentary that was to be released but got shelved - i found it on the net somewhere and i'll try to find it again.

But it had to do with kids from 'boystown' being used in a sex ring for politicians -local and otherwise -

Good. I hope these pages come out and nail every one of those friggin dirtbags.

GOP, demorat, doesnt matter, get em all out of there.

Arrogant fuggers.

Although it is at the very least interesting that this comes out 1 month before an election when people knew about Foley for a year. LABF, don't try to say that every single dem had no clue about it and/or didnt wait till now to open this up.

The burden to prove any of the above would be on you.

In any event, it's nice to see how you're already trying to deflect attention from your boy Foley to the Dems.

You've learned the W*GS defense well, grasshopper.

The burden of proof is easy. It broke now. Not November 16th, or March 4th, but 1 month before the elections. Its all I need. Typical political October surprise bs.

And like I said. whomever knew about it, and didnt do anything about it, should also be exposed and the voters should fire them if they don't resign.

BTW, while you talk about the culture of corruption in congress, how's William Jefferson doing?

Ha ha ha!

You Grand Old Pedophile flank coverers are all reading from the same hymn book, aren't you?

You think Jefferson somehow makes us even.

He could go the LABF route and just pull a bunch of opinion pieces from the most extremely partisan sites on the web to spam this thread with.

Or he could go the angrydramaqueen route and just shamelessly lie his ass off.

In either case, watching you and your Grand Old Pedophile buddies tap dance around Foley is hilarious.

Why on earth would anyone"tap dance" around such a depraved human being in this situation? The issue is obvious. The guy made a grave, grave set of mistakes that exhibit the worst behavior a human can offer. There is no doubt about that. Only the sick folks at NAMBLA would say otherwise.

I hope that the Democratic Party pays you for this stuff, because I dont see how anyone on this site buys anything that you are selling here. They have to be paying Taco for your admission here, because anyone else with such a limited grasp of the other regulars' political alignment would have long since been booted on any other board.

Your presence here is a blatant insult to the intelligence of everyone who frequents this message board.

This shouldn't surprise anyone (anymore than your attempts to deflect attention from the Foley scandal by attacking me should come as a surprise.)

You have always been a delusional individual who simply sees whatever he wants to see.

Facts and the truth never enter into it.

This from an unrepentant supporter of the most corrupt, criminal administation in U.S. history?

That's hilarious!

Formulaic personal attack from the Democratic Internet Propaganda Handbook section 2A.

What on earth does any of that mean, and how on earth would any of that apply to me? Further evidence that you arent familiar with other regulars' political ideas.

That has nothing to do with the point that I made. You are certainly dedicated to the "spin" tactic of propaganda.

It has everything to do with the "point" you made.

You should be hanging your head in shame.

Instead, you're here trying your damndest to steer this thread away from the topic, i.e., Foley's crimes, and turn it into an attack on the nearest liberal.

Hang every one of them if there's sufficient proof.

Any Republican that pulled anything like this must be removed immediately. If he can't be shamed into resigning immediately, he bloody well ought to be forcibly removed in November.

I don't care one way or the other about whether any Democrats are ultimately implicated in similar misconduct. That's for the left to clean up if it happens and if they want to deal with it.

But, damn it, I want this slime out of my party right freaking now.

Careful, the depletion may be so drastic and deep that only a shell of a party would remain.

Yeah, that's obviously the question... who are these guys?

Wow. I can't wait to hear.

If we're all honest - 16 years old can be a very attractive age ... and it's a legal age of consent in some states - Florida included. BUT - Congress itself stands en loco parentis for these pages while they are there - legally, that means they are parents of these kids while they're acting as pages. And they are minors. So, 16 or not, legal or not, Foley should be arrested and charged with a crime.

The interesting part of this is that it's giving old time conservatives the space to come out and start whacking the neocons who took over their party. They're the ones leading the charge to throw out Hastert and his crew. The Dems should just sit back and shut up on this one.

Interesting piece from ABC new in DC today about 1700 EST - George Stephanopoulos on John Riggens show (don't ask) that there were 8 names going to come out and that the House Leaders knew about this stuff for over 2 years. Expect the names to hit the primetime news tonight. Republician leadership is extremely worried about some of those names.
