All this Arod drama has got me wondering if he might be willing to come "home." I've always held a grudge against the guy for leaving Seattle, but I'd definitely welcome him with open arms...

But I doubt it. Unless the Yanks decide to eat a bunch of his contract, then no. Because we're probably gonna try to pick up a good arm (Schmidt), and with A-Rod we'd have a ton of money tied up in Richie, Adrian, A-Rod, and the pitcher. Personally, I would like to move Sexson this offseason, and try to get a lefty power first-baseman. Beltre showing signs recently that he has maybe figured out Safeco, and since May he has been one of the best 3B in the game. I would love our 2007 lineup to be:
1. Ichiro CF/L 2. Chris Snelling RF/L 3. Adrian Beltre 3B/R 4. Lee Seung-Yeop 1B/L (really, really, really wishful thinking) 5. Raul Ibanez LF/L 6. Ben Broussard DH/L 7. Kenji Johjima C/R 8. Jose Lopez 2B/R 9. Yuniesky Betancourt SS/R (I'm assuming that the yanks don't trade a-Rod and that we somehow get Lee) (The lineup needs tweaking b/c of the L,L,R,L,L,L,R,R,R arrangement.) ROTATION 1. Felix Hernandez RHP 2. Daisuke Matsuzaka RHP 3. Jason Schmidt RHP 4. Jarrod Washburn LHP 5. Jake Woods LHP (We have a great Japanese culture for players, so hopefully we could swing Matsuzaka.) (Although I would prefer to take a guy from the AL, see: Beckett, Burnett, Pavano, Johnson, etc. I would not mind Schmidt. Zito would be incredible, but with Boras he'll get way too much money. Maybe Mulder or Marquis, but decent NL pitchers don't translate well to the AL. At least Schmidt is a dominant NL guy.) BULLPEN Set-up guys 1. Rafael Soriano RHP 2. George Sherrill LHP CL. J.J. Putz RHP other relievers Sean Green Eric O'Flaherty maybe Jon Huber and Joel Pinero Last edited by dbroncos31; 08-30-2006 at 08:27 PM.. |

Also, because it deserves a post of its own, did you happen to see what happened to Raffy last night? I still feel sick from seeing it on Sportscenter. I can only hope that he will be okay and that it will not affect his life long-term. I also feel bad for Vladimir Guerrero. If you didn't see it, Soriano was hit on the right side of his head with a line drive off of the bat of Vladdy, which ricocheted into the Angels' dugout. Luckily he didn't lose consciousness, and it's hopefully only a concussion.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2566253 I pray to God that Raffy will be okay, and that there is little to no long-term damage. |

A-Rod is staying in New York...No one can afford him but NY or BOSTON. And they surely wouldnt let him go to the RedSux.
Besides he is coming out of his funk...He'll be fine when he gets some more confidence back. It's gonna be a subway series in NEW YORK!!! You heard it here... |

Arod has too much money for one player. It showed in Texas. Unless you have the bucks of the Yankees, it could be a liability then helpful. I can get two great pitchers for his price. When you are on a budget, he prices himself out. Plus, if Seattle doesnt make the playoffs, it would be considered a bust.

I'd like to see it happen. I was a big A-Rod fan when he was in Seattle, haven't really liked him as much since he left, especially when he went to the Yankees.

Ehhhh...
I guess I'd be open to it if it ever became a possibility...which I strongly doubt it will. Trading AROD would just create another hole to fill with another 20 mil player (Aramis Ramirez or something), and they'd still be paying AROD to play somewhere else. Cashman isn't that dumb... |

Yuni ain't the player we need to replace. If anyone it's Beltre...but he played all-star caliber ball 5 out of 6 months of the year. He obviously didn't hit a ton of homers, but he still put up a serious slugging percentage in an EXTREME pitcher's park. Beltre also features gold glove D.
Betancourt will be Platinum Glove caliber. He will be so damn good, they will create an award just for him. His bat is definitely respectable for such a glove-type player. Money needs to be put into the rotation, and maybe towards adding a big corner OF contract (Manny). |

Not sure about Schmidt though. If he wants to give us a hometown discount...then cool. Not sure if I want to be tieing up 40 mil+ in a 34 year old pitcher though. I'd look towards a project-type like Wade Miller or something. Get 'em for cheap and let 'em produce. We can let Baek, Woods, and maybe even Soriano fight it out for the 5th spot. As far as trading Sexson, many bloggers have been kicking that idea around for the past few weeks. The idea would be to trade Richie to open up some money for a more consistent, high OBP type player (Manny). Raul would then move to 1st, and we'd add another corner OF'er so Manny can be the main DH. |

the yanks will only trade him if he chokes this post season. he is batting 6th. if we do trade him it will be with a $5mil to go along with texas's 8mil a year to make it acceptable. but in return there will be some impact players and some youth.
