Default Military Coup in Thailand

Don't know what this means yet. Hopefully, this isn't another Myanmar.

Wait a sec. It appears that this is a normal event in Thailand:

Thailand has seen dozens of government coups since the end of World War II.

The new PM is reportedly a Muslim, if that means anything to ya.

I understand the Thai military was not happy with the way the government was cowing to muslim separatists.

A coup in Thailand equals a midterm election in the USA. Same basic process. Except they get a government holiday and we don't.

Hope so. We have a lot of Americans, including Nam vets over there.

It's early yet, but I expect the loons to start saying "it's Bush's fault" at some point for this.

yeah, it's bush's fault and since the general's a muslim he's a friend of the islamofascists.

We must never forget; we owe the Thais a debt of gratitude. They invented the bong.

From what I read, the prime minister was corrupt, and the general wanted to try a negotiation with the muslim revolutionaries. No matter what his religion, I hardly think he gets to be head of the army if he doesn't support the basic form of govt, and since the king supports him, I'd guess he's possibly an improvement.

Worst case is he's as bad as Musharaff the guy in Pak who seems not to be too interested in us getting bin laden.
