Refs need more then four games in pre-season (I guess)
Let me preface by saying I only saw two games this weekend. Denver @ Rams and the Indy @ NYG game tonight. But that said I saw some flat out horrible calls today.
Denver did themselves in with poor play on offense all night and the Giants killed all their momentum every drive with silly plays. But both games featured ref calls that could have been very impactful to the outcome of the game nonetheless.
1) The non-call pass interference against Scheff was just horrible and what's worse is that they all got together and discussed it and then agreed on it. The idea that you can blow up a receiver as long as you are "going for the ball' is just ridiculous.
2) The pathetic 1st down they gave Tory Holt when he is bobbling the ball was not even close forces Denver to lose it's last challenge on a call that should have been just plain obvious on the field.
and in the Indy @ NYG game...
3) the offensive pass interference call which was a drive killer was a phantom. These refs are making calls that are not there and missing calls that are and I don't recall the time (if ever) that I saw this many really bad calls in one weekend (and I only watched two NFL games)
(I suppose I could add the total BS roughing the passer call that gifted Texas another chance at what became the only TD against OSU but that was college).
Anyway..... it will be a long long long season if we have to suffer through really bad officiating like this on a regular basis.

I have always thought that an NFL ref should be a full time job. They all work day jobs and are flown in for the weekend games. Clearly they need to be studying tape, working on their positions and should be held more accountable. It is just becoming more and more apparent that the refs are missing to many important calls.

The instance I noticed most was the catch one of the Rams receivers bobbled and didn't make on what was something like 3rd and 18 that was right in front of the line judge and ruled it complete forcing Denver to burn a challenge.
