I'm not going to worry too much about this loss unless I think the Broncos are going to turn it over five times every week. Scary thing is they might well have one the game if they could have kept it down to four turnovers and one roughing the kicker call that amounted to a turnover.
If Steven Jackson played for the Broncos, he would rush for 2000 yards. Javon Walker looks healthy but just a little out of sync. I would have given serious consideration to playing Meadows for a series to see if I couldn't get Foster to move his ginormous ass and block somebody. The thing that makes Champ Bailey the undisputed best corner, and maybe the best defensive player, in the game is that, in addition to arguably being the best cover corner, he also is the best corner in football against the run. When you consider his contribution on running plays, what corner in history would you take over him? There ought to be a rule whereby the referee, after reviewing the replay, can rule that the call on the field was so far outside the bounds of reality that the challenging team ought not to be charged with a challenge. The overturned completion to Holt on the sideline was such a play. The picked up flag on the pass to Scheffler is called pass intereference 9 times out of 10. You will never win a game where you turn the ball over 5 times (6 counting the roughing the kicker penalty. |

Agree with most points especially that George Foster is god awful. Really disappointed with his "development".

The D was GOOD. The Rams spent all that time in the Denver red zone and couldn't come away with a touchdown the entire game. This gives me faith for the season. The D will keep us in games. Now if we could have just gotten a turnover...
The offense actually showed positive signs, despite the fact they gave away the ball like a can of Campbell's at a food drive. The running game was good, from time to time. Without turnovers, we easily would have established enough rhythm to open up the play action. Yes, the D was good. If the offense can just get some TOP, we'll be golden. No worries. |
